I work with students who feel like life is moving too fast and expectations are piling up. Maybe you’re stressed about classes, friendships, or future plans, or just feeling unsure of yourself. Therapy is a place to slow down, be heard, and figure out what really matters to you. The people I work with often struggle with stress, self-doubt, or adjusting to big life changes. Together, we explore ways to handle pressure, build confidence, and find balance in your academic and personal life. Sessions are a safe, supportive space to explore your thoughts and feelings. You’ll leave with practical strategies and a clearer sense of your own goals and values, so you can navigate college life with more confidence and calm.

I earned my dual B.S. in psychology and sociology from CUNY Hunter College and my M.A. in mental health counseling from CUNY Brooklyn College. I have over 5 years of experience in the mental health field with a wide range of levels including but not limited to depression, anxieties, LGBTQ+ related issues, intersectional identities, intergenerational trauma, and relational & interpersonal difficulties. I am trained in Psychodynamic and CBT Therapy. I aim to provide a space of acceptance and authenticity in my practice. I believe that therapy should be supportive and collaborative so that you may continue to heal, grow, and empower yourself to lead a life that aligns with your values. My work is informed through a multicultural integrative lens and I work with my clients to explore conflict and tension, navigate internal experiences, and change their narrative to operate more effectively. Therapy is a unique experience for each individual and I adjust my approach and style to account for your unique needs and challenges, while providing a safe, warm, and affirming space.
Therapy is not about “fixing” you, it’s about understanding you. You are not broken-you are human. Being human means experiencing various complex feelings that can be difficult to navigate and understand, especially on your own. No matter what life throws you, you do not have to go through it alone. As a therapist, I aim to create a space where you feel safe, comfortable, and genuinely heard in a judgement free environment. Together, we can collaborate to help you reach a place of self-improvement and understanding through recognizing behavior patterns, processing complex emotions, and exploring solutions to any challenges you may be facing. When working with me, you can expect a relationship rooted in trust, empathy, and openness. Whether you need a space to process, vent, reflect, or simply breathe-I will meet you where you are at. I will show up for you authentically, even if it means gently challenging you and confronting obstacles head on. There is no rush when it comes to your progress. Think of me in the passenger seat and you are the driver-you are the expert of your life and your voice matters most. Nearly ten years ago, I began my personal journey with therapy during a time of major life transitions. What stayed with me was the feeling of unconditional support and understanding I received. For the first time, I felt truly seen and encouraged to be vulnerable. This experience sparked a sense of strength and empowerment in me that I strive to help my clients discover within themselves.

“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” – Viktor E. Frankl One of the greatest gifts we can grant ourselves is the gift of inner peace. While we may not have control over our environment, situations, or the actions of others, we do have the power to control our thoughts, beliefs, and actions. As a therapist-in-training, I am dedicated to helping clients identify and understand the connections between their thoughts, beliefs, actions, and the decisions that shape their daily experiences. My goal is to help you turn life's lemons into lemonade. We all encounter challenging experiences, and I understand the importance of having a robust support system, combined with the right resources, time, and commitment. My aim is to ensure you feel safe, understood, validated, empowered, and supported throughout our sessions. Together, we will explore various therapeutic interventions to identify the best fit for your individual situation. I am currently a second-year graduate student at UMGC/Salisbury-Global Campus, pursuing a master’s degree in Social Work. Are you dealing with excessive worrying and overwhelm? Maybe perfectionism is starting to take a toll? Struggling with procrastination or low motivation? Or perhaps you're running into trouble with relationships (friendships, family, or romantic)? With years of experience providing therapy to students on a college campus, I understand the unique pressures you face. In a relaxed, relatable way, we'll work together to figure out what's at the root of your challenges and take steps to help you overcome and move forward in a healthier and happier way.
With 8 years of experience working with undergraduate and graduate students, I've witnessed the tremendous pressure to "have it altogether" in this next generation of adults. The pattern I see is one where one's self-worth is contingent on performance, and the pursuit for perfection is at the cost of authenticity. It's why I focused my practice on working with adults early/mid in their career who would describe themselves as high-performing, ambitious, and even perfectionistic. I want to support you with building a more balanced and compassionate view of yourself so that you can continue doing what you love without sacrificing your values. My approach is interactive, feeling-forward, and collaborative. My goal is to create as much space as possible so that, for one hour a week, you can talk about how you're really feeling. The therapy process is hard work but I'll be there with you the entire way through. I can't wait to meet you.
Hi All! My name is Cari and not so long ago I was a college student..... or at least it feels that way. Looking back I can say I learned a lot in the classroom but more importantly I learned about myself. Mental Health is a issues that has always been swept under the rug. The most significant onset for mental health issues are 18 and onward. This places many college student in a place where they may feel isolated, alone and have no idea what is" wrong" with them. My practice not only focuses on mental health issues but also on substance use, the "hook up" culture, adjustment to college life and many more pertinent struggles young people face today . I did not just gain my experience as a therapist listening to a client on a couch. Much of my work was community based , in very high need neighborhoods in the NYC area. From working in homeless shelters, foster care, and substance use programs, the experience gained was invaluable . I offer more then just a set of listening empathetic ears but an approach to help you rationalize your thoughts and experiences .

My ideal client is someone navigating a significant life transition—whether it’s entering a new phase of life, adjusting to a career shift, or healing after the end of a relationship, or starting a new one. They may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected from themselves and others. Their needs often include learning how to manage stress, set healthy boundaries, improve emotional regulation, and strengthen relationships. I have 13 years of experience and am licensed in three states. My approach to therapy is rooted in compassion, presence, and collaboration. I draw primarily from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness-based practices to help clients build psychological flexibility, develop deeper self-awareness, and move toward a more values-driven life. I believe that healing begins in the context of a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship. I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported. Therapy is a shared process, and I deeply respect the courage it takes to show up and be vulnerable. My role is to walk alongside you, offering guidance and insight.
