Are you working through trauma or a difficult life transition? Are you in relationship with a toxic or narcissistic person? Are you facing painful loss? Do you want to use principles of spirituality to strengthen you and answer life's deepest questions? Do you suffer from DID or dissociative disorder? For 30 years, I have guided people toward authentic ways of living and relating. Through many types of treatment, I help people to understand how traumatic life events change us and how to transform thoughts, feelings, and relationships. We focus on real actions you can take to find the power to reverse the effects of pain and trauma. I was educated at Cornell University and the University of Denver's School of Professional Psychology. I interned at the Albert Einstein Medical School and earned a post-doctoral fellowship at the world-renowned Menninger School of Psychiatry. I have highly specialized training in trauma, dissociative disorders and DID, spirituality, and toxic relationships. Many therapists look only at the surface. Instead, I will work deeply with you to see what and who causes you anxiety and depression, grief, sadness, emptiness and fear. We will take a thorough look back to see what and who has made an impact on you, positively and negatively. We will focus on actions to create a way to go forward with success and happiness.
I enjoy working collaboratively with young adults and adolescents navigating identity exploration and development, relationship challenges, and transitions. Many of my clients are LGBTQ+, Autistic, college students, or those who may be wondering about the intersection of queerness and neurodivergence. I strive to meet clients where they are at and work collaboratively to identify needs and goals. My approach to counseling informed by relational and emotionally focused lenses. I work with clients from culturally responsive and identity-affirming perspectives and consider the impact of sociocultural identities on current distress. Clients have appreciated my compassionate and direct approach, and the use of humor as part of a strong relationship. I offer free 15 minute consultations for those who are interested in services. I believe that therapist fit is very important and want to make sure you can connect with a provider that meets your needs.

Being a human can be hard sometimes. Being overwhelmed and exhausted are normal feelings of being a human. I want to support you through these overwhelming times so you feel less alone. I want to be someone in your corner supporting you! I am Victoria McKnight, a second-year MSW student at Binghamton University and I went into the profession of Social Work to support people in life’s challenges. I am passionate about helping people reach their goals one step at a time! During our sessions together we will focus on what it is that you need that day. We will work together to understand how your thoughts are impacting your feelings and how those feelings can ultimately impact your behavior. We will be working towards improving your skills and tools to help you combat life’s challenges. We will focus on tools and techniques you can practice in your life that will help you with stress, anxiety, and overwhelming feelings. Again I will use a person-centered approach allowing our sessions to be altered to what you need and what works best for you! My therapeutic approach entails a core belief in a strengths-based approach. I believe that each person has strengths that they can tap into, to achieve their therapeutic goals. I also incorporate trauma-informed care as this modality is a broad support approach to how trauma has impacted a person. I always strive to provide clients with a safe, supportive environment in which they can feel seen, heard, and supported. You are the expert in your own life, in your journey and I will do my best to ensure that I support you in this journey. My overall intention is to allow you to feel comfortable in the space we create together. Whatever is going on in your life I want you to be able to bring that to our sessions where we can talk openly about it. I always want you to feel supported and connected to resources surrounding you that you can turn to for support. As I continue my journey as a social worker I hope to be someone who people can look back on their time with and say she provided me with a safe space to work through this crazy journey we call life together. On the outside, it might look like you’re keeping things together—classes, sports, work, relationships—but inside you may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or like something just isn’t feeling right. I work with college students and student-athletes who are navigating stress, anxiety, grief, and past experiences that continue to show up in the present. In therapy, we slow things down, make sense of what you’re carrying, and find practical ways to feel more grounded and steady again. A lot of my work focuses on grief, loss, and unresolved experiences, using EMDR to help process what feels stuck alongside strategies for structure, motivation, and balance. You don’t need the right words or a clear explanation to start—just a sense that something has been weighing on you. Therapy can be a space to sort through it and move forward at a pace that feels manageable. Availability is flexible in evenings and on weekends.
I am a licensed psychotherapist and I specialize in supporting youth and young adults navigating chronic illness (e.g., autoimmune disorders), anxiety, depression, sports-related stress, disordered eating, weight loss, trauma, and relationship challenges. Facing a chronic condition at a young age can feel isolating, and life changes such as starting college, beginning a new career, or being a student-athlete may be overwhelming. Navigating body image and your relationship with food can be confusing, and trying to lose weight only to fall back into old habits can feel defeating. Being a young person in today’s world IS hard - like trying to keep your head above water. I lead sessions with compassion and lightheartedness. As a psychotherapist and future dietitian, I often use health psychology research and mind-body practices during the healing process. Therefore, I honor each person’s lived experience while helping them understand how their brain and body respond to stress. I work to help you develop helpful thought patterns, identify your strengths, live by your values, and find relief. Most importantly, I hold space to be a human. If you feel that I may be a good fit for your needs, I would be happy to connect and discuss how I can help you on your healing journey.
