Therapists for college students near New York University
Too much stress can be overwhelming and will affect our concentration, stamina, and clarity of mind. The very nature of trauma is the experience of too much, a feeling of being overwhelmed. My specialty is in Creativity and Trauma and how one informs the other. This is not easy work, but it can be fun. We use what is called a Bottom Up approach, in combination with a Top Down. What this means is we learn to tune into our body brain and not just our head brain. As a Creative Arts psychotherapist and trauma specialist I've discovered ways to work that help you heal, feel better, and help you make more sense out of your life. When we meet first we find out what is going on, what has gone on, and how we want to use our time together. We can continue to talk; we may include some of the modalities in which I am trained (Art Therapy, EMDR...). It depends on what you are most comfortable with, and fits your particular issues and concerns Please know I am exclusively working online

As a mental health counselor, my aim is to build strong relationships with each of my clients and revel in their accomplishments. More importantly, I am focused on guiding my clients through their challenges and recovery process with a person-centered, humanistic approach. Individuals can expect to step into a safe and empathetic environment where I will work to understand potential triggers and build a treatment plan with the goal of releasing these mental burdens. By working together, I aim to empower individuals in their healing journey. It’s my goal to ensure that these individuals grow their self-confidence, self-love, and self-worth over time and learn how to have healthy. I particularly enjoy working with people to explore the best solutions to their emotional challenges and believe it is truly a collaborative effort to support individuals as they face the challenges of life and begin to construct healthier and authentic ways to experience the world.
Water & Stone is a group practice focused on bringing a contemplative approach to mental health. Together we are here to find you a therapist you connect with and are comfortable working with, so you can get the most out of your experience and feel fully supported and engaged in the process. We work with people from diverse backgrounds and can offer a few options based on your needs and budget (individual work, groups, etc.) We offer traditional talk therapy, creative arts therapy, and bring many contemplative and mindfulness practices into session, personalizing the approach based on what you are comfortable with. Your first step will be a brief 10 min phone call with our founder and director Emery to discuss what you are looking for, answer any questions you might have, and hear about which therapist might be a good fit. You'll also get a chance to discuss your options for therapy and how the services match with your budget. No pressure and, if it feels good to you, you can decide when to take the next step.
