Swaroopa Dundon is a psychotherapist based in Westchester, NY, who works with teens and adults across the lifespan. As a therapist in practice over 12 years, I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ People of Color communities coping with depression, anxiety, relationship stress, racial identity, and spirituality/faith issues. I have have extensive experience working with Asian/ Asian-Americans and other communities of color, immigrants, Millennials, Gen Z, and college students. We all need spaces in our lives to be seen and heard. There are times, however, when it can be hard to find those spaces of acceptance, non-judgment, and problem solving. I received my doctorate degree as a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Columba University in 2020. While board certified to treat a diverse scale of symptoms, I have over 4 years of experience with children, as well as adults with substance use disorders. My main focus is medication management. However, I believe it is important to meet someone where they are at and provide psycho-education about various options for treatment, rather than dictating one path. Choosing a medication is a collaborative and fluid discussion where there may be more than one right answer. I believe in taking the time not only to complete comprehensive assessment of symptoms, but also explore the root of the symptoms. I’ve had much success where people can stay, stopped with their addictive behavior. I treat Trauma those that have been struggling with past or present traumas. I treat depression and anxiety and work with college kids that are struggling to fit in. I work with couples, and none of my couples have ever gotten divorced. My approach is gentle and firm.
