Therapists for college students near 10003
In my years of experience I have come to realize so much about living in the world robs us of our ability to acknowledge our own magic. Therapy should be a safe place for you to begin to reclaim that magic and learn how to discover your own power. By using a "bottom to top" approach to identify how long held, negative beliefs, have kept you reliving and repeating the past, you can finally live in the present. I provide a safe, non judgemental space for you to work through trauma and reclaim the power inherent in you.
Hello! Thanks for clicking on my profile (there sure are a lot of them to choose from!) I am eager to begin working with you. I specialize in working with emerging adults (18-28), adults with autism, Jewish identifying individuals, siblings of special needs children, and individuals struggling with anxiety and depression.
On the outside, it might look like you’re keeping things together—classes, sports, work, relationships—but inside you may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or like something just isn’t feeling right. I work with college students and student-athletes who are navigating stress, anxiety, grief, and past experiences that continue to show up in the present. In therapy, we slow things down, make sense of what you’re carrying, and find practical ways to feel more grounded and steady again. A lot of my work focuses on grief, loss, and unresolved experiences, using EMDR to help process what feels stuck alongside strategies for structure, motivation, and balance. You don’t need the right words or a clear explanation to start—just a sense that something has been weighing on you. Therapy can be a space to sort through it and move forward at a pace that feels manageable. Availability is flexible in evenings and on weekends.
I’m a licensed psychologist and have worked with college-age young adults for many years. I have a youthful energy and I believe in being a good and supportive listener. I utilize evidence-based cognitive-behavioral and acceptance and commitment therapy interventions to help young adults create and apply effective action plans in their life. I’m not interested in helping young adults merely admire their problems, is this usually results in remaining stuck. Instead, I work collaboratively to identify promising interventions to move our life forward towards desired goals. This, I find, is the only way for a person to build genuine confidence.

I’m here to support you through whatever challenges you’re facing—whether it’s healing from trauma, navigating a life transition, or managing feelings of depression/anxiety. I believe that therapy is a powerful tool for growth and healing, providing a space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions, gain new perspectives, and develop coping skills. My mission is to bring ease to therapy with a relaxed, down-to-earth approach, where comfort and insight go hand in hand. Clients can look forward to several key benefits from our sessions, including Enhanced Self-Understanding, Effective Coping Strategies, Personal Growth, Increased Emotional Well-being and Insight.
Using an integrative approach, my therapeutic style is grounded in compassion, honesty, humor, and humility. I work with individuals of all ages, but specialize in working with college-age adults. Individual therapy sessions are provided for 45-minutes/session, usually scheduled on a weekly basis. These weekly sessions lay the foundation for a strong therapeutic relationship, help with learning new skills, and create important momentum so you can experience relief and reach your therapy goals. We will work together to acknowledge and understand your past experiences and begin to re-affirm your feelings of personal worth. I also provide full and partial psychological evaluations, diagnostic evaluations (ADHD, mood, anxiety, learning, autism, developmental disorders), and educational evaluations. Assessments can be structured to measure social functioning, personality, memory, language, learning, and attention, or to provide diagnostic clarity. Individualized recommendations provided will support and facilitate growth, helping to set the path for success.

I've been in the field of social services for over 25 years, and I've had the good fortune to work in many different settings and with a vast array of populations. As a therapist I create environments that help people feel safe and supported and assist people in building motivation towards positive change. My clinical work is grounded in research and evidence-based practices, and I always work at a pace that is tailored to your unique situation and goals. My approach to therapy is warm, individualized, compassionate, and flexible. I'm a humble man with a good sense of humor, and I'm sensitive yet direct when I communicate. I've received formal training in many of the psychotherapy models and have specialized in the treatment of addiction, depression, personality disorders, bipolar disorder, ADHD, shame, couples, anxiety, trauma, anger/rage, and relationship challenges. I use the Gottman method for Couples Counseling and find the strategies practical and easy to adopt. In the early stages of my career, I treated adolescents, families, and young adults, and over the last decade have had more clinical experience working with adults and couples. I've also managed clinical program settings, providing leadership and supervision. I'd be happy to set up an initial consultation to see if we would be a good match to work together.

The Behavioral Care Center of New Jersey has extensive experience working with people with a variety of psychological needs. We offer individual, group, family, and collateral therapy primarily through a CBT, DBT, and ACT framework. We believe that each person is unique and requires an individualized and collaborative approach to his or her treatment. At the same time, we feel that it is very important to provide you with treatment that has been thoroughly researched to ensure that we are using treatments that have been shown to be helpful with other people who are suffering with similar problems. Therapy provides an opportunity to learn more about yourself and to learn how to continue moving your life in a valued direction when you are feeling stuck.
