PVD Psychological Associates (PVD Psych) is a private psychology practice on the East Side of Providence, Rhode Island. Our mission is to provide the greater Rhode Island area with exceptional therapy, offering cutting edge and research-supported treatment by a team of highly trained therapists. We offer therapy for adults, college students, and adolescents struggling with anxiety, school/career concerns, eating disorders, infertility and women's health issues, and relationship difficulties. PVD Psych is a LGBTQIA-affirmative practice, and is one of few Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island LGBTQ Safe Zone certified providers. We strongly believe that everyone has the right to respectful and affirming, high quality care. My areas of specialization and interest include: women's issues, depression, anxiety, stress management, and working with LGBTQIA-identified individuals and family members. I practice primarily from a relational-dynamic perspective, though I also incorporate techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and narrative approaches to address and tailor treatment to the unique and individual needs of each client. In my work as a therapist, I focus on understanding early experiences and how psychological well-being can be fostered through relationships. I believe change and healing come through relationships: our relationships with ourselves, as well as our relationships with others. I view therapy as a collaborative process that allows both therapist and client to grow and change. My clients describe me as an empathetic, active listener who approaches their concerns with caring, respect, pragmatism, and sometimes, humor. I'm honored that you're considering working with me and I would be happy to answer any questions that you may have. Please feel free to contact me.
As a licensed clinical social worker with more than 15 years experience in the field of social work, I'm committed to helping you grow. While utilizing positive psychology, cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness as a foundation, I work together with my clients to help them reach a higher version of themselves. Much of our suffering and distress comes from our relationships. When we focus on compassion for self and others, life becomes more meaningful and fulfilling.
I work with people who struggle with significant emotional and behavioral issues that cause them to feel disconnected from others. The people I work with often begin therapy feeling confused and hopeless about how they feel and behave in their closest relationships. They may understand something is wrong, that they are not living the life they want and having the type of relationships they long for, but nothing they find online or in self-help books seems to get to the core of what they're experiencing. They feel its time to start exploring themselves more personally with a professional. For over a decade I have worked with people in both short- and long-term therapy to explore and overcome complex emotional issues. To orient myself in this work, I utilize Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, which focuses on making sense of deeper, more systemic struggles, issues that often stem from early relational trauma. If you are tired of trying to deny the emotional turmoil you feel in both your life and in your relationships, I encourage you to reach out to me. I have significant experience working with people who come from very difficult upbringings. I have helped them find meaning in adulthood and have gratitude for the life they now live. Healing is possible.

We will work together to help you gain skills to manage your emotions, while also working on the root issues leading to the struggles of connection and regulation. It is possible for you to feel safe, trust yourself, and feel proud of who you are. Reach out today and we will begin this journey together. I work holistically and we will move at your speed, so you feel in control and can build trust before delving in. I am a non-judgemental, unpretentious therapist that will both unwaveringly sit with you in your pain, and also lovingly call you on your stuff. If this sounds good, then I might be a great fit for you. Send me an email so we can find out! I am queer and passionate about my LGBTQIA+ community. I am actively anti-oppressive and anti-racist. I am body positive and support Fat liberation. This means I will respect your pronouns, I see how structural oppression impacts mental health, and that therapy alone will not create the world we want to live in, and yet therapy can and does change lives.
We can easily feel stuck in life and not sure of the right way to turn. There are ways to remove the roadblocks while increasing your empowerment and self awareness. But where do you start? Finding the right therapist can be difficult. I strive to create a warm and welcoming place where you can feel safe, cared for, and valued, while providing you with strategies to meet your needs. I have a great deal of experience working with those with a variety of struggles including mood disorders, eating disorders, OCD, personality disorders, and trauma. I have a great deal of knowledge in area resources and connecting people with services and/or supports who may be beneficial. In addition to Psychotherapy, I have worked many years in Management and Supervisory roles. I provide Contract Supervision to Master's level Clinicians , as well as anyone who is interested in Clinical Supervision. I also offer training in different areas regarding Private Practice and billing. Feel free to reach out to schedule a consult and/or appointment.
I'm passionate about working with college students who are finding life to be overwhelming and exhausting. Maybe you're heartbroken over loss, burdened with guilt, feeling you'll never be good enough, are scared, or at wits' end. Or maybe something happened to you, and it sticks with you giving you no rest. When we feel this way, we tend to isolate, berate ourselves, and spiral in our thinking or distract ourselves from these debilitating feelings. You're not alone. These feelings and responses are common, and there are evidence-based treatments to help you make sense of your concerns, take good care of yourself, and take your next steps. My main approach is cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) while also building a warm, therapeutic relationship. I'm also trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma. That said, therapy is collaborative. You are the expert on yourself, and I will work with you to find the approach that best suits you. My goal is to help you not only feel better but to grow in ways that make a healthier life both possible and sustainable. Many people feel hesitant about starting therapy. Growth can be a challenging road—I hope to meet you on that road, and help with your journey.
Hi! I'm Yasmine. I work clinically with adolescents, teenagers, and young adults grappling with issues ranging from anxiety to trauma to cultural identity shifts. Therapy creates a space to better understand ourselves and the way our past impacts our present. In sessions, I work with clients to uncover patterns that contribute to an overall feeling of dissatisfaction in life. This provides the roadmap to help clients build a life that feels full, joyful, and meaningful. Clients tell me that I am warm, non-judgemental, and bring a welcome sense of humor into sessions. Therapy can be hard work. But it is work that I love doing and something that I take very seriously. My practice is informed by my interest in psychology, sociology, anthropology, and feminist studies. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology from Brown University and my Master's in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania. In the past decade, I have lived in Senegal, Colombia, the Dominican Republic and Lebanon, and I bring a multicultural perspective into the therapeutic space.

Hi there — I'm glad you're here. I work with thoughtful, high-achieving students who seem like they have it all together on the outside but are quietly exhausted on the inside. You might be the friend everyone counts on, the one who never says “no,” even when you're running on empty. My approach is holistic, down-to-earth, and focused on helping you feel more like yourself again. I blend tools from CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and Somatic Therapy to help you better understand your stress, listen to your body’s cues, and build coping strategies that actually work for you. Let’s connect for a free consult and see if we’re a good fit. You don’t have to figure this all out alone.

Codi is a psychotherapist with experience working working adolescents and adults seeking support managing life changes. Codi practices from a relational, client centered approach. In addition to a B.A. in Feminist and Gender Studies from Colorado College, Codi holds a Masters of Social Work from Smith College School for Social Work. They come to APP with previous experience in access to higher education, direct service with incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people, and community mental health. Codi sees therapy as an opportunity for people to sit in the nuance of being human. They are eager to explore the space between therapist and client, centering my work in a psychodynamic approach. Their work is informed by a critical lens that helps clients examine systems and institutions of power and the roles those structure play in our suffering and healing. They are interested in creating a practice that can center the acknowledgment and influence of race, and other identities, in relationship. They hope to hold space for clients to explore, create and recreate themselves.
