You’ve been wondering why you do & feel the things you do—why specific behaviors keep repeating, why you feel stuck, no matter how much you try to change. You’ve done the self-help books, the podcasts, maybe a few short-term therapy stints, but you still find yourself repeating the same patterns. I help curious, motivated people ready to go deeper than symptom management. Together, we’ll explore the hidden patterns, emotional blocks, & past experiences that still shape your present. Our work will be thoughtful & challenging in the best way — the kind of therapy that helps you grow in ways you didn’t know were possible. My approach blends Psychodynamic Therapy with elements of CBT, DBT, Black feminist theory, empowerment, and sociopolitical thought. This allows us to work at both a deep, exploratory level and a practical, skill-based level, always tailored to you. Therapy can be challenging at times—it asks you to face yourself honestly—but it can also be profoundly enriching and life-changing. I work best with clients who are ready to commit to weekly, twice-weekly, or thrice-weekly sessions, so we can create the momentum & depth needed for real transformation. If you’re ready to begin that journey, send me an email.

About My Practice My practice is centered around helping individuals work through the emotional challenges that leave them feeling stuck. I know that reaching out for help can be a vulnerable step, and I’m here to support you as you navigate your unique dilemmas. Together, we’ll explore what’s weighing on you and find a path toward healing and relief. My Approach With over six years of experience in the field, my practice has been influenced by Compassionate Inquiry, developed by Gabor Maté, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. These approaches help you understand and connect with yourself more deeply. Through Compassionate Inquiry, we’ll uncover the root causes of your challenges, leading to greater self-acceptance and clarity. IFS allows you to connect with different parts of yourself, helping to heal inner conflicts and promote self-compassion. Healing and Growth I’m dedicated to helping you connect with your core self while releasing the burdens that hold you back. Many people struggle with self-worth, self-control, and the weight of past experiences. My approach helps those trapped in destructive patterns attain more flexibility and freedom. Within the safety of our relationship, you can begin to let go of pain and find relief in the present from whatever has been burdening you. How We Will Work Everybody thinks and feels at their own speed. We will spend as much time as needed to find a pace and flow that works well for you. Hello, and welcome! I’m Kimberly Masterson, a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) dedicated to supporting college students through life’s challenges. College can be an exciting yet stressful time, and it's completely normal to feel overwhelmed by the demands of school, social life, and future plans. Anxiety and depression can make college feel overwhelming—constant worry, overthinking, feeling on edge, sudden waves of panic, or getting stuck in “what if” thoughts and mental loops. For some students, it also shows up as perfectionism, needing things to feel just right, or feeling driven to overanalyze, check, or mentally replay situations. For others, they get stuck and can't make decisions, start tasks, and quickly fall behind. My work with students is practical, goal-focused, and skills-based. Together, we focus on tools you can actually use in daily life—learning how to step out of worry and mental loops, tolerate uncertainty and distress, understand and name emotions, and respond more flexibly when strong, uncomfortable emotions show up. We’ll also look at how your emotions influence your choices, habits, and relationships, and work toward changes that help you move forward. The goal isn’t to eliminate anxiety or other uncomfortable emotions completely, but to help emotions to have less control over your thoughts, decisions, and day-to-day life so you can feel more present and grounded. My focus is on individual therapy for anxiety, social anxiety, panic, OCD, adjustment issues, depression and trauma focused therapy for PTSD.
