I work very well with young people who are struggling to adapt to college or grad school, either socially or academically. I am able to diagnose ADHD and create treatment strategies. I also work very well with students who are struggling to differentiate from their parents or families. Sometimes this look like anxiety or depression, but it can have its roots in dysfunctional family systems. I am good at working with you to identify what you grew up with vs what you need now. I am in training as a sex therapist with a focus on how to get pleasure from sexual intimacy. I like to support sex workers, and can also attend to gaps in sexual functioning.
I believe in using a strength-based approach in working with adolescents, and adults. I have experience working with individuals and families. Treatment modalities I use are derived from a relational approach, in conjunction with cognitive behavioral, solution focused, strength based, and psychodynamic. Welcome! In my practice, I enjoy helping young adults who feel anxious, stressed, and burnt out. I have extensive experience working with people struggling with eating disorders/disordered eating and body image, academic stress, perfectionism, and those who are constantly battling the voice in their head that says they’re “not good enough." Through my warm and personable approach, I’ll help you understand your emotions and develop new coping skills to face life’s obstacles. I have worked in eating disorder treatment centers in Boston at both the inpatient and outpatient levels of care and practice from a Health At Every Size (HAES) approach. I really enjoy helping students navigate through their college experiences at all stages of college - from adjusting to being away from home for the first time to making and maintaining healthy relationships, and to making difficult decisions about which paths to take when their college experience comes to an end. In my practice I am experienced in treating students who have significant mental health concerns as well as students who are simply looking for some objective support to work through some transitions and day to day challenges.
I am a psychotherapist with 10+ years of experience providing individual therapy for adults and adolescents. I have training in most major therapeutic modalities (CBT, DBT, SFBT, trauma-informed treatment, etc.) and my clinical focus is on in-depth psychoanalytic therapy. People come to work with me when there is a problem—a symptom, a conflict, a traumatic experience—that interferes with their satisfaction in life. Common issues include anxiety, depression, self-doubt, and difficulty with love and sexuality. Psychoanalytic work aims at addressing the real causes of these problems, and can result in new ways of relating to yourself. Therapy begins with an invitation to speak freely. It is a unique opportunity to hear what our struggles are trying to say. The challenge of therapy is that there are no ready-made answers, but I find that with the right therapeutic environment, everyone can figure out what to do with their obstacles on their path. I look forward to speaking with you about working together. Feel free to get in touch by email or schedule a consultation on my helloalma.com profile. I am currently accepting new patients for telehealth and in-person sessions at my office in Brookline, and can provide services in both English and Mandarin. 我會使用中文進行心理治療, 歡迎與我聯繫!
I offer neuropsychological evaluations for college students. The purpose of these evaluations is to clarify the nature of students' struggles with attention, organization, or learning. Testing can be conducted in English and/or French.
I work with adults, adolescents, couples and families to help folks live full and meaningful lives. If you choose to work with me, I will assume you’re coming with problems in your life or your relationships that you’d like to work on. I will hold steadfast to the idea that people are not problems, problems are problems. And while therapy might not be the exact solution to what ails you, it can help a good bit. And I want to help. I’m in this work because I believe in the power of talk therapy to bring about positive changes to our lives. I’ve spent a good bit of time learning how to listen well, ask thoughtful questions, and empathize with my clients. I work with clients experiencing a wide range of issues like depression, anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, and general stuckness. I’m confident enough to know that I can be a great fit to some folks and humble enough to know that I’ll be a terrible fit to others. And I’m pretty sure this blurb isn’t enough to determine which is which, but a free 15-20 minutes on the phone could get us close to knowing if therapy together is worthwhile. Let’s chat. I trained at the Brookline Center for Community Mental Health and the Boston College School of Social Work. I’ve done advanced training in narrative therapy through the Narrative Therapy Initiative.
