You might feel torn between what you want and what everyone else expects from you. You try to make the right choices, keep the peace, and be there for everyone, yet you are left feeling anxious, guilty, and unsure of your own needs. I work with women who feel stuck in relationships, career decisions, and life transitions, and who want to understand themselves more clearly and set healthier boundaries. My work is grounded in CBT, Mindfulness, EMDR, strengths-based therapy, and Trauma Informed care. I pay close attention to the mind-body connection because it often reveals what words cannot. Our goal is to help you feel more like yourself, more confident in your decisions, and more connected to what you truly want. I show up with honesty, compassion, and a little humor. I will support you, challenge you, and call out the patterns that keep showing up so you can stay focused on what matters to you. Welcome to Encourage-ment Counseling for Connection, Healing, and Change At Encourage-ment, we help individuals and couples find hope, strength, and clarity through compassionate, expert care. Our practice specializes in three key areas: couples counseling, gambling addiction recovery, and trauma-informed therapy. Life can present challenges that feel isolating and overwhelming. Whether you're struggling in your relationship, battling the cycle of gambling, or working through the impact of trauma, we’re here to walk with you—at your pace, with respect and empathy. **Our Areas of Focus:** * **Couples Counseling** We support couples facing conflict, communication challenges, trust issues, or emotional disconnection. Our work centers on helping partners rebuild connection, improve understanding, and create stronger, healthier relationships. In addition to resolving immediate relational concerns, we help couples navigate the natural seasons of life—including marriage, career changes, aging, and loss. We also provide support for parenting challenges, helping couples stay united as they raise children, balance responsibilities, and manage stress. Whether you're new in your relationship or decades in, our goal is to help you grow together with resilience and compassion. * **Gambling Addiction Recovery** Gambling struggles can feel hidden and difficult to talk about. We provide a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore the emotional roots of gambling, develop healthier coping strategies, and rebuild your sense of control. In our work together, we focus on practical tools such as budgeting, financial planning, and managing urges to gamble. Just as important, we support clients in rebuilding trust with loved ones, repairing the emotional and relational damage often caused by gambling behavior. Healing includes both personal accountability and restoring connection—and we’re here to guide you through every step of that process. **Trauma-Informed Therapy** Trauma affects how we feel, think, and relate to others. We offer gentle, focused support using evidence-based approaches—including Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)—to help clients process distressing memories and sensations in a way that promotes rapid, lasting relief. ART uses guided imagery and eye movements to shift how trauma is stored in the brain, helping clients feel calmer, more in control, and better able to move forward. At Encourage-ment, we believe real healing begins when you feel seen, heard, and encouraged. Whether you're navigating relationship difficulties, addiction recovery, or the effects of trauma, we’re here to help you move forward—one step at a time.

Queer enough? Babe, you're overqualified. If you're questioning it, you probably already know the answer. Queerness isn't a checklist or a vibe check. You don't need a membership card, you are already in. Out of the entire LGBTQIA+ community, folks like bi, pan, genderfluid, and nonbinary people are often seen as "less queer" - yet we face the highest rates of gender/sex based anxiety and depression. The double-closet effect - feeling invisible to both straight and queer spaces - makes it harder to feel seen, heard, and valid. No matter the mental health symptom, for queer people, healing starts with feeling validated and affirmed. I help queer folks who struggle to feel like they belong (including in LGBTQIA+ spaces) embrace their identity, trust their "enoughness," find calm through adversity, and conquer life stress, relationship trauma, and anxiety. I'm here for your fluidity, your bisexuality (no matter the gender of your partner), your polyamory, your transness. Welcome home. Healing starts with being in a space where you don't have to explain or prove yourself. We don't have to focus exclusively on queerness in your sessions, but you will never have to wonder if it's accepted and understood. Whether stress, relationship trauma, or anxiety, we'll focus on what matters to you. When you're ready, I'm here.

I hold a Bachelor's (BS) in Psychological and Social Sciences from Pennsylvania State University. My counseling style is eclectic because I utilize many different therapeutic strategies based off of the needs of the individuals I am working with during the session. Some of my counseling theory styles consists of: cognitive, behavioral, person-centered, positive psychology, reality, solution-focused, mindfulness, motivational interviewing and psycho-education components. In other words, I have many ways for helping individuals to deal with their struggles or with whatever is challenging them. My approach focuses on thought processes, behaviors, and action plans. I also find ways to creatively use your interests (such as: music, hobbies, movies, and etc.) in the solution process. Most importantly, during every counseling session I strive for my clients to take away something new or something that can utilize outside of counseling in everyday life.

People come to treatment for a variety of reasons. I view each person as unique and strive to assist individuals to overcome challenges and meet the goals that are important in their lives. As we work to let go of stress, pain, behaviors, thoughts and feelings that are not useful in the present, new healthier patterns can emerge and be adopted.

A dandelion will remain closed if there is a storm on the horizon, but once the storm has passed it will open up its beautiful, vulnerable self to the world. Only with safety is healing possible. In the same way, humans stay closed up tight if the environment isn’t safe. We know the importance of a safe, supportive environment and strive to provide that to each client. For counseling in Pennsylvania, whether in-person or online, we are here to walk beside you, hear your experience, provide guidance, and help you find the life you’ve so desired. The art of therapy is a process with which it can take time to become familiar. Psychotherapy is most effective when the therapist and the client are able to build trust with each other. The trust established between the client and the therapist allows for openness, honesty, and vulnerability in the session. As you progress through therapy, you may experience difficult emotions such as anger, hurt, disappointment, or pain. These emotions are natural to the healing process and it is my role to help care for you when you do experience these emotions. Practicing primarily from a Psychodynamic frame with a strong emphasis on attachment, I incorporate Schema, Cognitive-Behavioral, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and other Process-Experiential approaches and techniques based on the needs of the client(s). Although I work with a variety of issues, my primary clinical focus is trauma, emotional abuse, affairs and betrayal traumas, existential crisis and restoration/deepening of the relationship one has with him/her/their self. Simply, I am interested in helping individuals and couples restore their sense of safety, re-establish their sense of self, re-discover their place in relationships and the world, and find meaning in life. Populations with whom I am particularly familiar and enjoy working with are: Young Adults, Artists and Creatives, and the LGBTQ Community. I help individuals, couples and groups work through relationship and life-stage concerns, issues pertaining to sexuality and gender identity, and questions and concerns around faith and spirituality.

I believe that clients are experts in themselves, and the counseling process serves as a vehicle for exploration, understanding, and change. Adversity and negative past experiences are part of all of our stories, but they do not define us. Counseling gives a space to reflect into the past providing an understanding of the influence these experiences have on our lives today. Using clients' insights, strengths and resilience I support and help our clients become the people they wish to be. My favorite part of supporting client's is supporting them in self-discovery and strengthening their sense of self. I strongly believe in providing high quality services to all individuals and affirming the dignity, worth and value of all. My approach as a therapist is a person-centered approach and strength based. I am also trained in CBT and integrate different interventions to meet client needs. I strive to create an open safe space for individuals to be their authentic-self and receive acceptance, kindness, and support. My goal for you is to give you the space you deserve to show the most authentic version of yourself feeling supported and empowered. The therapeutic alliance I believe is a collaborative one because you are the only expert of you. Client's work collaboratively with me to create the goals we will work towards. By the end of treatment, I want clients to have a strengthened sense of self as well as resilience, tools and techniques. I am a recent graduate from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine earning my Master's in Mental Health Counseling. I am the proud owner of Project Rise Counseling & Advocacy. I am a pre-licensed professional which means I am supervised by a licensed professional Alisa Trout. I am more than happy to answer any questions about how that works (: I strongly believe that all individuals should have access to mental health support thus I offer sliding scale services to overcome financial barriers. Whether you are looking for extra support throughout your academic journey, during a challenging situation, or you simply want to change directions in your life, I look forward to establishing a collaborative empowering relationship. I offer daytime, evening and weekend sessions!

I truly believe that everyone has the capacity to grow when they’re in a space that feels safe and accepting. At the heart of my work is building a genuine, trusting connection with you—because real healing begins when you feel truly seen, heard, understood, and accepted. Together, we’ll create a warm and welcoming space where vulnerability is embraced and self-exploration feels comfortable. Above all, I’m here to hold space for you with kindness and openness, honoring your unique needs, passions, experiences, wisdom, and hopes for the future. Specializations I’m especially passionate about supporting adults who grew up with caregivers who, for various reasons, may not have met their emotional needs.Together, we work to heal from those early experiences, find your true voice, clarify what matters most to you, and create a life that feels authentic, grounded, and free. I work with clients ages 15 and up to navigate challenges related to: Childhood relational trauma, emotionally immature parents, & unmet emotional needs Relationship patterns, boundaries, people-pleasing, & guilt Exploring identity, values, & personal growth Identity diffusion & enmeshment Shame, self-doubt, & indecisiveness Life transitions & emerging adulthood Grief & loss Anxiety, depression, & low self-worth Emotional regulation & distress tolerance Could We be a Good Fit? Clients who tend to do well with me often appreciate a little lightheartedness or humor during our sessions and enjoy putting what we talk about into practice between meetings—sometimes through small homework or weekly goals. Many have found it helpful to bring their creative interests into our work, which helps us build a space where you can feel safe, inspired, and free to be your authentic self. I’ve also noticed that adolescents, young adults, and college students often feel especially comfortable and connected in our time together. Therapeutic Approaches My approach to therapy is primarily rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Together, we’ll explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors with curiosity and work toward making the changes you’d like to see in yourself. For those who resonate with this approach, I incorporate Internal Family Systems (IFS) to support compassionate exploration of your inner parts. I also use a person-centered and trauma-informed lens, honoring the impact of your life experiences and creating a space where all parts of you are welcome. While CBT and IFS are my go-to methods, I like to keep things flexible, drawing from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to tailor our work to what feels right for you. My hope is that you find a space in therapy that feels human, welcoming, and uniquely yours. If you think we might be a good fit, I’d love to connect and explore how we can work together in a way that supports your growth. I currently offer teletherapy sessions at River Wards Wellness Collective. Please visit our website and use the button at the bottom of my profile below to contact our administrative team and begin the intake process.

College is supposed to be some of the best years of your life—or at least that’s what everyone says. But what if it doesn’t feel that way? Maybe you’re constantly stressed about classes, worried about your grades, or overwhelmed by everything on your plate. Maybe you compare yourself to everyone else, feeling like you’re always behind or not doing enough. Or maybe you just feel stuck, unsure of what you want or where you’re headed after graduation. If any of this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. College is hard, and no one gives you a guidebook on how to manage all the pressure. That’s where I come in. I work best with college students who are: 🔹 High achievers who feel burned out—pushing themselves to the limit but still feeling like it’s never enough 🔹 Stressed and overwhelmed—juggling classes, work, and personal life while trying to keep it together 🔹 Struggling with self-doubt and imposter syndrome—feeling like they don’t belong or aren’t “good enough” 🔹 Navigating big life changes—adjusting to college, preparing for life after graduation, or figuring out who they are 🔹 Feeling anxious in social situations—overthinking conversations, avoiding conflict, or struggling with friendships and dating
