Do you want to improve your relationships? Would you like greater satisfaction from school? Are you having difficulty sleeping? Are you struggling to cope with changes in your life, to your health, or with a loss? Do you need help with your marriage or partner? Is something missing in your life and you just can’t figure it out? Perhaps you feel the need to understand yourself or your behavior. As a licensed professional counselor, my goal is for you to not only feel better but to gain an awareness that you have the inner strength to overcome obstacles and feel more in control. My private practice, Life in Progress Counseling, provides an environment that is safe, accepting and understanding. Our collaborative discussions will be private, supportive and positive. I am passionate about working with people to address challenging situations in their lives. My areas of expertise include: stress, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, sleep issues, college counseling, crisis, trauma, life adjustment issues (career, health and education) and psychotic disorders. The main focus of my work is with adult individuals. Settings I have worked at include: college career and counseling centers, private practices, hospital psychology departments, and community organizations. I believe in utilizing holistic approaches that fit the individual needs. I often find a person-centered and solution-focused approach to be beneficial by providing genuineness, acceptance and empathy. Instead of looking solely at problems, we would focus on solutions that you would like see in the future. Some additional techniques I routinely use are cognitive behavioral interventions, meditation, family systems therapy and motivational interviewing. I have worked with a wide range of people during my career, always with the focus of helping individuals to reach their goals. I am committed to providing accepting, effective and personalized care. I would be privileged to assist you in reaching your true potential while helping create skills to cope, manage and overcome life issues.

Hi, I’m Tori — a therapist, theatre-maker, sourdough enthusiast, and firm believer that we’re all just doing our best to make sense of being human. My work is for anyone who’s ever thought, “Am I the drama?” — and then realized, maybe, a little. I love working with women, queer folks, and anyone who doesn’t quite fit into the neat boxes the world tends to hand out. My special heart-space is for college-aged and younger women trying to navigate identity, independence, relationships, and the wild, weird in-between of figuring it all out. Before becoming a therapist, I spent years in the theatre — helping people tell their stories, find their voices, and sit in the beautiful chaos of being seen. That same creative spirit is what guides me in therapy. Together, we’ll look at what’s working, what’s not, and gently (or not-so-gently) challenge the stories that keep you stuck. My background is in trauma and crisis work, with training in CBT, narrative therapy, and evidence-based approaches — but the heart of my work is connection. I want you to feel like you can show up as your whole self here — messy, brilliant, funny, heartbroken, healing, or all of the above. When I’m not in session, I’m usually baking bread, playing with my dogs, or daydreaming about planting too many flowers in my (slightly shady) backyard garden. Therapy with me isn’t about being “fixed” — it’s about being found.

I help my clients get results fast. Therapy isn't a complicated process. We meet, we talk about the expectations of therapy, identify specific treatment goals and map out a plan. Our work takes place in the boundaries of a safe, corrective emotional relationship. I put patients’ feelings into words, focus on symptom management and reduce their impact on personal and professional lives. I've been practicing as a licensed psychotherapist and clinical social worker for over 15 years. I use a CBT/ Solution Focused approach in helping patients reduce anxiety and elevate and stabilize depressed mood. I help people move toward wellness in a safe, non-judgemental space. Therapy works. It is about growth and evolution, and I've observed that there is great joy in embracing positive new behaviors based on this collaborative approach. I look forward to working with you via telehealth or in-person in our Squirrel Hill office.

Hi! I'm Heather, and I work with trauma survivors, high achievers, and people with lots of anxiety. While I work with all kinds of trauma, my most significant experience is at the intersections of religious trauma and LGBTQ+ identities, and/or high intelligence. I like working with people who want to understand why they do the things they do, or who already know but can't seem to stop doing them.

At this moment, you face one of the most important choices of your life: Is this the moment you closed your browser and settled for what you have? Or is this the moment you reached out for therapy and reclaimed your life? My approach to therapy focuses on developing a positive vision for your life. You can’t just wish for the suffering to end. You need to be bolder. What becomes possible when the suffering ends - what will it mean for you to live a good life? Many struggle with this question. They think they know what they want, but in reality they want what someone else wanted for them. That is why my approach focuses on understanding your true self - your style of perceiving your environment, interacting with the world, and making decisions. As we discover your true self, we will also work on recognizing the existential choices you face as part of the change process and identifying how you can make those choices in alignment with your core values. You have one precious, beautiful, wild life. With every passing moment, that life is getting shorter. You’ve lost too much time to suffering already. If you are ready to change, reach out to me. I am ready to walk with you every step of the way.

Welcome, welcome, WELCOME! All my life I have believed that a person needs to be the change they want to see in the world. Thus I am opening my own practice where people are free to learn, to grow, to express themselves freely and without judgement about whatever ails them. This could be daily life struggles of riding public transportation, or more philosophical questions about the meaning of life, and everything in between. All it takes to start is the willingness to have a conversation. I take a trauma focused, client first approach which makes getting that conversation started even easier! With having a DECADE of experience in the mental health field, I specialize in structural cognitive reality therapy as a certified trauma therapist. Thus I'm able to adapt and match my counseling style to serve a variety of clients, ranging from anxiety to depression to more complicated mood and behavioral disorders, such as bipolar and schizophrenia. Every journey starts with the first step. Let your first step be reaching out to me and seeing if I can help with whatever ails you. Everyone could benefit from having a life coach in their corner. Let me be yours.

Providing a safe and validating space for others is a value of mine. This has lead me to pursuing a Doctorate in Psychology and thus far 8 years of experience. Throughout my training and career, I've always gravitated towards the college/graduate school population. I've especially appreciated working with students on relationships, identity, and self-love. Being a South-Asian, I've also enjoyed exploring cultural/ethnic/racial identity with clients. In a therapy session my approach is inviting, warm, curious, and a grounding presence. I strongly believe clients are experts on themselves; hence my approach to therapy is empowering and encouraging clients to lean into experiences to meet their goals. I like to use the metaphor that my clients are in the driver's seat and I'm there to support them as they explore where they want to go. Along with a multicultural lens, some therapeutic orientations I often pull from are CBT, ACT, and IFS. Gift-giving is important in many cultures and hence the gift I want to give clients is hope, validation, and safety. I also strive to plant the seeds of empowerment and self-love in clients and continue to nurture that together throughout our sessions. I encourage clients to try out various exercises/skills in between sessions to continue to meet their goals. Overall I hope a client leaves our sessions feeling supported, heard, and respected.
