Hi, I’m Marlena. Being a college student can feel like a nonstop mix of pressure, expectations, and “why am I like this?” moments. I work with students who feel anxious, overwhelmed, burned out, or stuck—especially when school, relationships, and life transitions start piling up all at once. My style is warm, collaborative, and very real. I focus on helping you understand what’s actually going on in your mind and body (hello, nervous system), so you can learn tools that help you feel more grounded, regulated, and in control—not just during sessions, but in your day-to-day life. You don’t need to have everything figured out to start therapy. If you’re looking for a space that feels supportive, nonjudgmental, and practical, I’d love to work with you.

Therapy isn’t just about getting through hard times, it’s an opportunity for you to reconnect with your own inner strength and move toward a life that feels more meaningful, grounded, and embodied. You might feel overwhelmed, stuck in a major life change, overthinking, or just tired of pretending you're okay. If that sounds familiar, you're not alone. Much of my work with clients involve exploring your thoughts, emotions, and physical experiences to deepen self awareness and support lasting change.

Something feels off, and you can't quite name it. You're doing everything you were supposed to do, but the life you're living doesn't feel fully like yours. You look around and it seems like everyone else found their footing, their person, their purpose. And quietly, you've started to wonder: Why not me? What am I missing? The gap between where you are and where you thought you'd be by now can feel like failure, even when, logically, you know it isn't. You're measuring yourself against a timeline you didn't write, comparing your insides to everyone else's outsides, and coming up short every time. The loneliness isn't just about being single or not having the career you wanted. It's the disconnection from yourself, from knowing who you are and what you actually want, separate from what you were always told to want. You don't need to have it all figured out. But you do deserve to feel at home in your own life, curious about where you're going rather than ashamed of where you are. You deserve to trust yourself again. I work with women who are navigating that in-between, exploring who they are, longing for real connection, and untangling the anxiety that comes with feeling behind. Together, we'll loosen the grip of comparison, get clear on what you actually value, and help you build a life that feels genuinely yours, not a performance of what it was supposed to look like. I offer online therapy in North Carolina and Pennsylvania. If this sounds like you, please reach out to schedule a free 15 minute consultation!

I believe that the therapeutic relationship, the relationship between the therapist and the client, is the cornerstone of therapy and is an essential tool in working through interpersonal issues. I would provide a warm and safe environment in which to collaboratively address your concerns. Therapy would entail learning skills to more effectively cope with your stressors and exploring your understanding of yourself and underlying causes of your difficulties in order to enhance your quality of life. While this process can be challenging, it can also be meaningful and rewarding. I have experience working in community and academic settings with diverse adult populations experiencing a wide array of problems.

If you are wondering why you may be attracting the same type of partner or repeating the same types of losses in your relationships or friendships, then I am here to help you through it. Working through your attachment and unlearning some behaviors picked up in childhood can be done. Goals are meant to work in small attainable steps. While I am intuitive, I like to keep it real with you. What that means is that I will work with you in a direction that is suited to your needs. What inspires you? What scares you? What do you sometimes avoid thinking or feeling? I provide supportive and challenging psychotherapy for clients interested in identifying their complex narratives. We will search for the patterns and themes that are creating barriers to healing, and we will locate those that enhance your ability to live authentically. My social worker lense leads me to work with you to name and examine the societal systems most impacting you. In psychotherapy, we will work to help discover your truths as a way to live more authentically, and as a result, feel less burdened by anxiety, depression, fear, or uncertainty. I practice with a non-judgmental stance, deep compassion, and reverence for patiently letting our work unfold as trust develops. My social justice values are reflected in the therapeutic space that we co-create as I work to validate intersecting identities, continue my commitment to anti-racist work, and to practice queer-affirming and neurodivergent-affirming care. I work comfortably with a wide range of clients due to my experience in schools, community mental health, and as a group facilitator.
