Hello! My name is Jenn Mayeda and I am a Licensed Mental Health Therapist (LMHC) and Mental Health Professional (MHP) in Washington state and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Oregon. I am able to meet with residents who are living in Washington or Oregon. I have a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Portland State University. My experience as a therapist comes from working for many years in community mental health with a wide range of clients. I have worked with children, families, teens, and adults in various programs. I also have experience doing crisis outreach at hospitals and answering calls on the crisis line and working on a specialized domestic violence team where we collaborated closely with a local DV agency to provide therapy and support to DV survivors and families impacted by domestic violence. My experience includes working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD, Bi-polar disorder, grief and loss, life adjustments, trauma and parenting skills and support. I especially enjoy working with survivors of domestic violence. Many people think of domestic violence being mostly physical abuse, but DV also includes mental, emotional, psychological, sexual, financial, technology, religious, technology and physical abuse as well as power and control. I hold a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional Level 2 certificate. During my free time, I enjoy spending time with my 2 sons and family, cooking, trying new restaurants and coffee shops, spending time at the beach and visiting new places. My role as a therapist is to provide a safe, supportive and non-judgmental environment for my clients. I empower individuals to overcome personal obstacles they are experiencing by using a variety of treatment techniques depending on the needs of each individual. I enjoy helping clients explore ways to make changes in their lives and learn new skills so they can have a hopeful and fulfilling future. You look like you have it together but inside you are exhausted, overwhelmed, or just quietly struggling in ways nobody around you seems to notice. The students I work with have often been carrying something heavy for a long time: anxiety that won't quit, a past they can't stop thinking about, or a pattern of burning out no matter how hard they try to keep up. Some are high achievers who look completely fine on the outside while feeling overwhelmed or empty on the inside. Others are navigating something that happened earlier in life that is finally surfacing now that they have space to breathe. Many of my clients have tried talking about their problems before and felt like it helped in the moment but didn't really change anything. That's because some of what we carry doesn't live in our thoughts. It lives in the nervous system, in the body, in patterns wired into the brain long before we had words for them. I use approaches, such as EMDR and IFS, that work directly with the brain and body, not just the thinking mind, which is why clients often notice real shifts after feeling stuck for years. You don't need to have it figured out before we talk. You just need to be curious about why you keep feeling the way you do, and open to the idea that something can actually shift. If you're dealing with anxiety, burnout, trauma, depression, difficult relationships, or a general sense that something is off and you can't quite name it, you are probably in the right place.
Starting the therapy process is a sign of strength and vulnerability. I believe that we all have the power to create change in our lives by allowing ourselves to see ourselves and be seen by others in our lives. Together, we will explore the origins of your patterns of thinking/behaving/relating as well as the functions that these patterns serve, assess your barriers to change, identify your strengths and resources, and practice new ways of coping in order to help you live a more satisfying life.

College can be a time of big transitions, self-discovery, and sometimes, feeling overwhelmed. I work with students navigating life changes, anxiety, motivational issues, perfectionism, the inner critic, self-esteem challenges, and coming into their identity. I also support folks exploring their experiences with neurodiversity and LGBTQ+ identities. At the heart of my practice is a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel truly seen and heard. Together, we’ll explore your inner world and uncover the pathways to healing that feel right for you. If you’re ready to take the next step in your journey, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
Hi! I believe everyone is capable of healing, growth and positive change. I bring compassion, humor and authenticity to our counseling relationship. My work reflects my values and is strengths-focused, trauma-informed, anti-racist, and LGBTQIA-affirming. During our most difficult times, we develop coping strategies that serve us and keep us safe. I work with people to examine which strategies still benefit them and which they want to adjust or let go. People often enter therapy caught in shame or the belief they are somehow broken. We can work together to find skills that benefit you and build on strengths you already possess. My approach is client-centered and integrative and includes techniques from mindfulness-based awareness, CBT, Internal Family Systems, DBT, and EMDR among others. As a cancer survivor, I also bring an intimate and personal awareness of the struggles and growth that can occur through treatment and healing. My work offers a safe and welcoming space for you to explore, grow, and heal. It takes courage and vulnerability to start counseling. Please call or email me if you think I might be able to help. I wish you well on your journey.

Developmental trauma (experiences as we grow, including our family of origin) shapes how we see the world, sometimes unsafe and challenging to navigate. Our attachments are the foundations in which we trust or find conflict. Developmental trauma may manifest in the body as anxiety, stress, distress, relationship difficulties, depression and more. There is healing to be found here, to be understood and nourished. Well done on the first step in a journey toward wellness. The most important aspect of therapy is finding a person who makes you feel safe and heard. I look forward to collaborating. I have training and experience in working with trauma, family of origin/generational cycles, attachment disruptions, complicated grief and loss, sexuality, sex work and with LGBTQAI+ persons. I love working through emotions, trauma and somatic experiencing. I am Level I Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy trained. I enjoy working with and understanding folx from their perspective; I work with singles, couples, non-monogamous consensual relationships and families. I provide a safe, unassuming space in which you can find felt safety. I appreciate the eclectic person you are and would like to help you identify your own cracks, so that you can let your own light in. College is often the first time you are forced to build your own foundation. I specialize in helping young adults navigate massive life transitions, from foundational relationship building (premarital and early commitments) to processing historical trauma in a safe, paced environment. I also offer specialized, neutral counseling for students experiencing spiritual dissonance or shifting belief systems as they face possible separation from their childhood frameworks. My goal is to help you establish a deeply grounded, resilient identity for the rest of your adult life.
My clients seek me out for many different reasons, including (but not limited to) mood, anxiety, and stress disorders; adjustment difficulties; and relationship and family-of-origin concerns. Sometimes, they just know they're stuck or lost and need help. I use evidence-based approaches (i.e., what we know to be effective with certain concerns) to help clients gain awareness of the interactions between their thoughts, feelings, and behavior; recognize the influences that have shaped these patterns; and develop the knowledge and skills to respond, rather than react, to them. I specialize in working with trauma, anxiety, and disordered eating. To support clients in these areas, I am certified in EMDR, trained in brainspotting, and a level 2-trained Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist. Additionally, I work from a non-dieting, Health At Every Size framework that is affirming of body size diversity. I offer a safe, collaborative space that balances compassion and challenge, within which we can work together to understand the concerns you are experiencing and identify new, more effective ways to meet your needs. If you think I might be a good fit for you, please call, text, or email me to schedule a free, 20-minute phone consultation.
