I am Counseling psychologist, and I've worked in college mental health for the last five years, first as a therapist at Syracuse University's counseling center, then at Rhode Island School of Design's counseling center. I both provided therapy, and helped train others to provide therapy. I love working with students and helping them adjust to being at a university, figuring out how to cope with the demands of college, and find their way in the university system to make sure that they have access to not just tools for their mental health- but access to academic supports, financial assistance, and resources to help them work with their faculty members. I'm a generalist- I work with people across a wide range of issues and identities, and so I really try to tailor what I'm doing to fit what YOU need. I also have specialised training in LGBTQ+ mental health and treatment for Trauma. I believe that we are whole people, and our identities, culture, and access to resources are important to understand, respond to and support in therapy. I both work to help you understand your experience so you can respond in new and creative ways, and also know and use pragmatic strategy-based approaches that give you concrete ideas how to take the next step. If that sounds like a fit for you, reach out and I'm happy to speak more!

I have formal training in a variety of therapy modalities that I use at various times throughout the therapeutic relationship, with you as the guiding factor. I believe that each person’s experience is unique, and therapy should be a reflection of that. My approach to therapy is focused on developing genuine relationships that are collaborative and empathic, so clients can feel safe, understood, and supported in sessions. I’m committed to exploring and affirming each client's individuality and intersecting identities, and to supporting individuals in the LGBTQ+ and CNM communities, college students, and professors. I work with adults focused on issues related to social anxiety, ADHD, trauma, LGBTQ+ issues, relationship/communication dynamics, and climate anxiety. Sessions are based on a foundation of relational warmth and safety to build a sense of connection, empowerment, deeper insight, and personal resiliency. I primarily draw from person-centered, feminist, trauma-informed, narrative, and IFS approaches, but there is not one specific kind of therapy that works well for everyone. We all have unique strengths and perspectives. Sessions focus on identifying ways to create sustainable positive changes given each client's particular context and lived experience.
I specialize in therapy for young and emerging adult women with anxiety, depression, life transitions, and OCD to help them find balance and gain new perspectives on how they see the world and themselves. I challenge Perfectionists, Overthinkers, and People Pleasers to step out of their black-and-white thinking. In our work together, we’ll explore the patterns that have protected you in the past, dive deeper into your experiences, and notice the stories that your mind is telling you. We’ll work with both your mind and body, helping you tune into how your thoughts, emotions, and physical responses are connected. As an integrative therapist, I blend evidence-based practices with a human, relational approach—drawing from different modalities to meet you where you are and what you need most. My goal is to provide a balanced, trauma-informed, and holistic approach that addresses the whole person—mind, body, and emotions. If you’re ready to understand yourself more deeply, build healthier boundaries, strengthen your self-trust, and create more space for flexibility and self-compassion, feel free to reach out or schedule a free consultation through my website—I’d be honored to support you!

I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 13 years of experience helping adults heal from trauma, manage ADHD, break painful relational patterns, and reconnect with who they truly are. I specialize in working with the BIPOC community, college students, first-generation professionals, women navigating major life transitions, high-achieving adults who feel stuck despite their success, and adults with ADHD who are tired of being misunderstood. I am also one of the few LCSWs certified in financial social work — bringing a unique understanding of how money stress, financial trauma, and ADHD intersect with mental health. My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to you. I draw from trauma-focused therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), CBT, ACT, and psychodynamic therapy — always meeting you where you are. Whether it's your freshman or senior year, college is a time of change and transition. You may be thinking about giving therapy a try to manage all the stress of independence, grades, social life, athletics, relationships, and making decisions about your future. The pressure of college can be a lot. Therapy can be a place to learn healthy ways to cope with these challenges and build confidence in yourself to get through hard times. If you are someone that is creative or has felt "stuck" with traditional talk therapy, I'm happy to also offer art therapy. I'm here to support college students gain insights about who they are and who they want to be.
Often in therapy we work to bring what's unconscious into consciousness, which can create more agency, freedom, and choice. As both a psychotherapist and writer, I believe in the power of finding connections between that which is seemingly disconnected in order to uncover a deeper understanding of oneself and the way one relates to others and the world. I specialize in treating trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, interpersonal relational difficulties, and life transitions. Using a psychodynamic framework and relational lens, my work is informed by both psychoanalytic theories and Buddhist psychology. I often draw from Internal Family Systems framework and specialize in psychedelic integration psychotherapy. I received my psychotherapeutic education from New York University, The National Institute for the Psychotherapies, and Nalanda Institute’s Contemplative Psychotherapy Program. I hold an MSW from NYU, an MFA from The New School, and a BA from Boston College. For more info: alipowerpsychotherapy.com.

I specialize in trauma-informed therapy with a strong foundation in social justice, offering a compassionate space for healing and reconnection.
