Is your relationship with food affecting your friendships, dating life, or academics? Do you skip campus events or meals with friends because you're anxious about eating in front of others? Many people who struggle with food experience negative thoughts about themselves, poor body image, or develop eating disorders. If you're ready to take back control of your life, now may be the time to reach out for support. Together, we’ll explore your relationship with food, build strategies to help you regain a sense of control, and address the underlying intrusive thoughts getting in the way. With years of professional experience, I specialize in helping BIPOC individuals and allies improve body positivity and explore the connection between food and trauma. Together, we’ll examine how your values align with your behaviors, practice body acceptance, and develop coping skills to help you manage eating disorder urges. While I specialize in eating disorders, I also support individuals navigating anxiety, depression, sexual abuse, life transitions, and relationship challenges. Please feel free to reach out to discuss your needs and how I can support you.

One of the greatest gifts I've received in my 19+ years of private practice, has been to witness individuals as they move towards healing, and discover a more fulfilling, whole life. The hold an eating disorder, anxiety or trauma can have on a life is profound. To watch the grip loosen, and healing emerge, is very moving. I enjoy learning, and collecting new tools and skills to help my clients. After I obtained my MSW from New York University's School of Social Work, I completed postgraduate training in eating disorders and body image issues at the Women's Therapy Centre Institute, and in Trauma Studies at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy. In addition, I completed a three-year training in Somatic Experiencing, and have assisted at professional trainings, helping other therapists to learn the model. I've led eating disorder groups for New York University's Counseling Center and various non-profit organizations, and have served as both a lecturer and group case consultant on eating disorders and trauma at postgraduate institutes in New York City. Interested in creating a culturally and spiritually sensitive practice, I completed a two-year program studying the world's major faith traditions, in an effort to better understand my clients from all backgrounds. I do not take any insurance. My fees range from $150-175 based on need, and I do not presently have a sliding scale beyond that range. If you have questions, or would like to request an appointment, please feel free to contact me. I offer ONLINE ONLY therapy in CA, CO and NY.

I believe who you are matters. You’re a deep feeler, a critical thinker, & someone who’s carried a lot for a long time. Perhaps you are the “black sheep”, someone who has felt unseen, unheard, or unworthy for most of your life. You’ve learned how to keep going, but lately, you’re exhausted. You’re realizing that surviving isn’t enough anymore. You might be navigating anxiety, burnout, dissociation, grief, identity transitions, or complex trauma. You may feel stuck in cycles of self-abandonment, masking, or perfectionism. You want to feel safe in your body, connected to your truth, & be free to live more fully - not just function. You’re looking for a therapist who is trauma-informed, LGBTQ+ affirming, and deeply attuned to the realities of navigating systems that weren’t built for you. You want support that’s holistic, anti-oppressive, and rooted in nervous system regulation, attachment work, and deep respect for your autonomy. I work from a trauma-informed, shame-sensitive, and strengths-based lens. I draw on your values, your lived experiences, and your inner resilience to co-create a path toward healing. I help clients break out of survival mode, heal from internalized shame and systemic harm, and reconnect with a sense of safety, authenticity, and agency.

My name is Elvis, a second-year master’s degree student in the Social Work program at Montclair State University. We may also explore past or present traumas, childhood experiences, or current situations that are affecting your day-to-day life, aiming to provide you with a comprehensive and personalized approach to healing and growth. My theraputic approach is grounded in the psychodynamic, CBT, and DBT theories. I strive to create a comfortable environment where you can express yourself openly. Together, we’ll work on identifying what’s going on in your life and develop practical strategies to help you manage and overcome obstacles. My goal is to make our sessions straightforward and relatable, without any confusing jargon. Elvis Auqui is a therapist-in-trainging at Sol Health. I love my work and look forward to helping people who are looking to make their lives just a bit sunnier. We all have struggles but they don't have to weigh us down to the point where it is hard to let in joy, happiness and fulfillment. I work with clients to develop acheivable goals using my available tools as a therapist such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gestalt Therapy and Yoga Therapy where appropriate. I see people of both sexes and all ages but seem to have developed a specialty of working with people in their 20s and 30s.
My clients are often navigating intense emotional experiences—grief, anxiety, depression, or the impact of major life transitions like divorce, career shifts, or the end of important relationships. Many carry unresolved pain from trauma, abandonment, or difficult family dynamics and are seeking more than just surface-level coping—they want clarity, healing, and meaningful change.
