Clinical Social Work/Therapist
New Rochelle, NY

I offer compassionate and transformative psychotherapy to individuals 18+ throughout the lifespan, drawing upon both traditional and innovative tools to provide highly individualized and attuned support. I have expertise working with anxiety (including social anxiety), life transitions, grief, trauma, work-related stress, family conflicts, and relationship issues. I also work frequently with spirituality and religion, multicultural issues, adjustment disorder, and concerns relating to college students and recent graduates. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with nearly 15 years of professional experience. I received my undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania, majoring in Religious Studies and graduating Cum Laude. I received my Master in Social Work degree at NYU. I have a certificate in Relational Psychotherapy and utilize mindfulness-based tools like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. In addition, I have trained in IFS (Internal Family Systems) level 1 and the beginning and intermediate levels of Somatic Experiencing (a body-based approach), innovative therapeutic tools that I incorporate into my work. If a client already working with a primary therapist wishes to pursue an adjunct treatment focusing specifically on SE or IFS, I can design a therapy program to support these goals. I also provide adjunct therapy specifically targeting social anxiety. Before transitioning to private practice, I was a staff therapist at Columbia University Counseling and Psychological Services for eight years. I have extensive experience offering psychotherapy to adults of all ages, leading groups focused on creating connections and managing anxiety, and presenting virtual and in-person workshops to large audiences in professional and educational contexts. At this time, I see clients via telehealth throughout New York State and do not offer in-person sessions. Please feel free to reach out to me to discuss how I may support you.

Licensed Mental Health Counselor
New York, NY

I provide individual therapy that is warm, collaborative, and tailored to meet the unique needs of each person I see. I strongly value inclusivity, liberation, and respect--values I incorporate into my work by staying centered in a Black feminist and HAES perspective. My clients arrive in therapy coping with trauma, depression, anxiety, and grief. Together, we work not only toward developing healthy coping skills, but toward healing for a sense of purpose, contentment, and peace. Therapy is an excellent place to affirm and internalize a greater sense of self worth and to practice a compassionate attitude toward yourself. I am particularly skilled at working with individuals who have experienced trauma. While I am experienced working with people of many different backgrounds and identities, I am especially well versed in working with people of color & LGBTQIAA+ individuals who contend with microaggressions and systems that diminish wellness. Choosing to come to therapy is an incredible opportunity for learning, growth, and creating a life of meaning and fulfillment. I offer individual therapy for adults and elders located in NY or NJ by phone or video conference only. **Please note, I accept only out of network benefits and am not in network with any insurance panels.**

Creating a space for someone to feel supported and heard is my first priority. The most important aspect of a therapeutic relationship is the dynamic between client and therapist. When you truly feel comfortable and understood by your therapist then that is when therapy can thrive. The goal in the work we do is to focus on assisting you in healing so that you are able to use the space and time we have to decipher what would work best for you to move forward. Therapy is a place for you to unwind, unload and have an opportunity to speak your thoughts out loud, reflect and make sense of how you would like to proceed away from stress, anxiety, anger, melancholy or behaviors that are no longer useful and yet challenging to change. I have worked in the field of HIV, substance use and mental health for over a decade. Primarily working in community health centers and non profit organizations, I have had the honor of providing mental health services to homeless men and women, adults who are actively using substances and unsure of what changes they would like to make, if any, and with homeless youth who are struggling with a severe mental illness. My graduate education and training was started and completed in the Bay Area where I also taught mindfulness meditation through a research study at UCSF. I am a Latino Bilingual Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in the state of New York. I specialize in working with people, in both English and Spanish, who are struggling with Substance Use, Stress, Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Sexual Identity, Coming out, Gender Identity & Transition, HIV-related issues, Relationship issues, Grief and Loss, Sexual Difficulties, Migration issues and adapting to a new country with a sensitivity to diverse cultural and spiritual backgrounds. In addition I also specialize in working with people who believe in non traditional sexual relationships and expressions. I am currently accepting new clients in the Flatiron District of New York City. If you are considering therapy or even just pondering on whether this is a right fit for you, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I believe that each of our stories are equally sacred as they are unique and see therapy as an opportunity to cultivate curiosity for ourselves, let go of self-judgement, and create meaningful change. I utilize an embodied approach rooted in Gestalt Therapy and don't shy away from bringing humor, play and creativity to the therapeutic process. Though my experience ranges across many areas, I gravitate towards helping clients work through Inner Child Healing, codependency, perfectionism, relational trauma, multicultural identity and relationship issues. I also work with couples seeking to deepen intimacy, trust and communication.

You’ve been wondering why you do & feel the things you do—why specific behaviors keep repeating, why you feel stuck, no matter how much you try to change. You’ve done the self-help books, the podcasts, maybe a few short-term therapy stints, but you still find yourself repeating the same patterns. I help curious, motivated people ready to go deeper than symptom management. Together, we’ll explore the hidden patterns, emotional blocks, & past experiences that still shape your present. Our work will be thoughtful & challenging in the best way — the kind of therapy that helps you grow in ways you didn’t know were possible. My approach blends Psychodynamic Therapy with elements of CBT, DBT, Black feminist theory, empowerment, and sociopolitical thought. This allows us to work at both a deep, exploratory level and a practical, skill-based level, always tailored to you. Therapy can be challenging at times—it asks you to face yourself honestly—but it can also be profoundly enriching and life-changing. I work best with clients who are ready to commit to weekly, twice-weekly, or thrice-weekly sessions, so we can create the momentum & depth needed for real transformation. If you’re ready to begin that journey, send me an email.

I believe that healing and growth happen when one is truly heard. As a therapist, I strive to provide a safe and nonjudgmental space to support this process and help you move past fears and obstacles that may be getting in the way of your success and happiness. I specialize in helping adults navigate life transitions as well as stress, anxiety, depression, and trauma related to issues of identity, self-esteem, relationships, school, and career. Together, we’ll work towards goals such as deepening self-awareness, overcoming unhelpful patterns, learning effective coping methods, cultivating self-acceptance, and building emotional resilience. I am particularly interested in working with diverse populations, including 1.5 and 2nd generation Asian Americans, BIPOC, and expats. As a native New Yorker and second generation Taiwanese-American, I’m especially attuned to issues of belonging and marginalization, and the complexities that arise from navigating intersecting identities and conflicting expectations, wants, and needs. In addition to being trained and licensed as a mental health counselor (LMHC), I have completed post-graduate work in psychodynamic therapy at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Somatic Experiencing®, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR). Prior to practicing therapy, I worked in advertising and marketing. I have found that my own winding path has given me a unique perspective and ability to connect with a variety of individuals and their struggles. If any of this resonates with you, I invite you to schedule a complimentary video consultation and take the first step towards feeling better. I would be honored to help you reshape your life story to create more balance, meaning, and fulfillment. www.dianaliao.com @therapywithdiana

PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICES: Rebecca’s clinical focus is on helping adult female identified dancers develop healthy relationships with their bodies and food. She guides clients in reconnecting with their bodies, often using the process of “embodiment,” a multilayered awareness of your body and how you connect to or relate to the world around you. Through the holistic practices of mind- body awareness, Rebecca educates her clients on how their emotions may sometimes be reflected through physical symptoms, often called psychosomatic symptoms. Working with Rebecca, clients also receive guidance on eating in a self attuned way to manage disordered eating behaviors. She works from the Health at Every Size (HAES) perspective and helps clients understand the internal and external factors that contribute to disordered eating, body image issues and problems with self esteem. Dancers are always on display, whether taking recreational classes at the studio or at rehearsal and especially during performances. Outside of the dance world, there’s the everyday societal expectations of how our bodies should be. Rebecca is familiar with the unique challenges dancers face on and off stage. PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT COACHING FOR PERFORMING ARTISTS: Contact Rebecca for more information. With her background in Applied Sports and Performance Psychology, Rebecca offers individual and group coaching sessions to adult dancers. You are seeking therapy because you know it’s time for a change. Your anxiety or trauma have affected how you see and interact with the world, and feeling more at peace seems like a hard-to-reach place. Oftentimes, we’re our own worst critics. You may be telling yourself that you can’t meet your work or academic goals, address challenging relationship issues, or develop the self-esteem and creativity you need to succeed on your path in life. Your perspective of the world may have been shaped by childhood experiences you had little to no control over. Maybe you are a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and have lost the support of your family or loved ones due to issues related to your identity. Or perhaps you no longer know who you are anymore, don’t like who you are, or don’t know how to relate to other people. You’re here now because you’ve made the decision to become more aware of the negative self-talk that has been affecting daily functioning and ready to learn what to do with it when it comes around. In confronting your fears, and looking within yourself, you learn to understand how to make sense of the world, how to better cope with strategies and tools that are actually useful and your focus begins to shift to things that you can actually control. Seeking change is no small feat and takes incredible courage! Luckily, you don’t have to walk this path alone. Creating a safe space where you get to challenge those beliefs, invest in your well-being, and improve your overall life satisfaction is my highest priority.

I’ve always thought that the most beautiful and interesting trees in the forest are the ones that grow into unique forms, shaped by their environment but finding a way to adapt and thrive. Similarly, life’s challenges can shape us in profound ways, but they can also leave us feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood, or stuck. I’m Rob Gooding, a second-year graduate student at St. Bonaventure University studying Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am deeply passionate about helping individuals navigate these challenges and uncover their inner resilience to live fulfilling and authentic lives. I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship as a foundation for growth and healing. To me, it’s a privilege to walk alongside clients as they share their stories and embark on their journey toward self-discovery and empowerment. My approach is grounded in person-centered principles, recognizing that you are the expert in your own life. I strive to create a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, valued, and supported. By integrating evidence-based techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Solution-Focused Therapy, I work with clients to reframe negative thought patterns, develop practical skills, and prioritize their needs. Together, we’ll build tools to navigate challenges with confidence and clarity. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, academic pressures, identity exploration, or life transitions, you don’t have to face it alone. I’m here to help you rediscover your strengths, adapt to life’s demands, and create meaningful change. Just like those unique trees in the forest, your story is one of resilience and growth – and it would be an honor to support you on your path. Robert Gooding is a therapist in-training at Sol Health.
