Hi! I'm Grace Polanco, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I specialize in working with adults and young adults experiencing depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship issues, life transitions, eating disorders, and addictions. I integrate a variety of therapeutic approaches and techniques based on your particular needs to help you feel empowered to guide your own healing and life goals. My therapy technique is based on a humanistic approach, which is a focus on seeing the world through your eyes to foster growth, and resilience. You are the expert of your life, and my approach is to nurture that truth. I often reflect on the dimensions of wellness in session, and will utilize tools from cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. Sessions are currently being offered via teletherapy.

Welcome and congratulations on taking the first step towards meeting with a therapist! You feel that that you don't have a good sense of who you are. You behave in different ways around your friends, family members, and colleagues. It's hard for you to keep your emotions in check and at times you feel your emotions are out of control. As a result, you react in ways that make things more challenging for yourself and others. Your relationships often have conflict, friends don't seem to stick around, and you can't figure out why. You wonder if you're doing something wrong and if there is something you can do differently. You question why things at home, with work/school, or with relationships can't be easier. When you try to handle these problems, it seems like things only get better for a little while, or they just get worse. I help clients figure out what truly matters most to them in life; assist clients in learning how to connect with and live in the present moment; support clients in finding ways to handle intense emotions, respond in ways that don't erupt their relationships, and to weather through the tough times.

Perhaps you’ve noticed feeling more anxious or depressed lately, but aren’t sure why, or what you can do to feel like yourself again. Perhaps you’re struggling with relationship tensions, feeling stagnant in studies or find yourself just more generally in a rut. You may be feeling well overall but want to get a grasp on certain issues in your life. Now might be the right time to break free of those patterns and explore other ways of thinking, feeling and being in the world. I offer a non-judgmental space to learn more about yourself, what you want, and how to get there. My practice is depth-oriented; we work collaboratively to get to the root of your problems so you can move forward both with my help and on your own. We learn together to listen better to you so that you can come into a more solid and vital sense of yourself.

Choosing a therapist is an important and deeply personal decision, and my goal is to offer a space where you feel genuinely seen, supported, and understood. I work with individuals who are navigating complex trauma, emotional overwhelm, relationship struggles, worry, or sadness. Many of my clients come to me feeling stuck in cycles they can’t quite name, carrying burdens they’ve held alone for far too long. Together, we slow things down, make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface, and build a path toward relief, clarity, and meaningful change. My approach is collaborative, trauma‑informed, and grounded in curiosity rather than judgment. I draw from evidence‑based modalities including DBT, CBT, & ACT, while tailoring each session to your unique needs and strengths. I incorporate psychoeducation, skills training, and optional between‑session “homework" to help you apply what we discuss in real time. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship stress, or the long‑term impact of trauma, you don’t have to navigate it alone. If you’re curious about whether we might be a good fit, I welcome you to reach out. When you’re ready to feel more connected, grounded, and understood, I’m here to help.

Feeling overwhelmed and feel your thoughts and moods run your life? And do you feel this prevents you from living life to its fullest? I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (R) Therapist with 12+ years of experience. I can begin therapy within 1 week of your initial call! Often through sharing our thoughts and struggles with a skilled, empathetic professional, hope can be restored. Also, by learning a few key thinking strategies and other simple mental techniques, together we can reduce and eliminate the feelings of being powerless over how our minds automatically can work against us. I can help you find solutions within yourself. Stop letting more time go by in your life in which you feel you or relationship is broken! There is an easier and better way! My clients tell me that therapy is not as intimidating as they anticipated, and that they have found our sessions to be safe, comfortable, relaxed and extremely relieving. I will work to reasonably accommodate your financial capabilities. I have evening hours as well as video therapy available!

When depression, anxiety, or trauma overshadows your thoughts, it can be difficult to even imagine how life could be different. Whether you are struggling with work-life balance, relationships, or life transitions, I offer new ways of thinking and a personalized treatment plan that empowers you to live your most meaningful life. I also have significant experience treating college students, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and people of color. I am a psychiatrist practicing in Philadelphia with virtual appointments available for patients in PA, NJ, and NY. In addition to prescribing medications, I incorporate multiple psychotherapy modalities to best suit your needs. I am also happy to collaborate with your existing therapist if your need at this time is primarily medication management. I graduated from Harvard College with High Honors in the Comparative Study of Religion and received my MD from Thomas Jefferson University with a certificate in clinical translational research. I completed my Adult Psychiatry residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in NYC. I also received additional psychotherapy training at NY Psychoanalytic Society & Institute. Rittenhouse Psychiatric Associates is a network of about 25 Psychiatrists, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners and Psychotherapists who are academically oriented and practice evidence-based care. We treat anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. We additionally provide neuropsychological assessments for accommodations. Services include Psychiatric Evaluations, Medication Management and Psychotherapy. Patients can generally be seen within 2-3 weeks. We do not have admitting privileges at local hospitals, and therefore, if a patient is high risk for self-harm, is acutely suicidal or needing crisis intervention, has a history of inpatient psychiatric admissions, suicide attempts, or psychosis, we may recommend providers with additional emergency resources outside of our practice.
