We assess each client's environment, family, biological factors, and experiences from childhood to the present day. We consider a strong therapeutic relationship to be the highest indicator of progress in therapy. Being able to be open with one another enhances the therapy process. Without a strong rapport between therapist and client, safety doesn't exist, and barriers to positive change exist. After gathering history and establishing rapport, we then tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs. We provide EMDR (trauma therapy) as well as regular talk psychotherapy.
I am a queer, Black licensed mental health professional with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from St. John’s University. I have particular expertise in working with women and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. As someone who has also been on the other side of the therapeutic relationship, I bring a deep understanding of the vulnerability and transformative potential of this work. My approach is relational, inclusive, and culturally responsive. My work is grounded in compassion, empathy, and a strong commitment to creating a non-judgmental, affirming space.

There is no magic button or quick-fix solution when it comes to making a change. I find that I am the best fit for individuals who are looking to enhance their emotional well being and want to challenge themselves. I specialize in helping individuals struggling with life transitions, depression, and anxiety. My therapeutic approach considers clients to be the experts in their life, with my role as a guide to help uncover negative patterns and work towards positive change.
I believe one of the bravest things you can do is to live authentically and understand your own story. You can live a life that excites you. If you are working through life transitions, trauma, or are looking to deepen your understanding of yourself and enhance connection with others, I can help you on your path. Peeling the layers of trauma takes courage, strength, and inner power. I work through a social justice lens with an understanding that societal influence/injustice impacts individuals and communities. I have over ten years of experience in mental health and specialized training in trauma. I offer a compassionate space where you can explore what may be affecting you, find ways to move past it, feel empowered to work toward becoming the best version of yourself, and learn to live with greater purpose and intentionality.
Are you struggling with sex, love or relationship issues? I can help. Perhaps you are having difficulty moving on from or deepening a commitment to a relationship. You feel isolated or resentful, possibly because you're not effectively communicating your needs. Maybe your sexual behavior interferes with your relationships, self-image, or productivity. You feel anxious, depressed. My goal is to help you manage these difficult feelings and develop strategies to build a more fulfilling life. I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor who provides a safe, non-judgmental space where we can work through any difficulties you have honoring your needs and being authentic in partnerships. I also work with individuals struggling with sexually compulsive behavior or romantic obsession. I am affirmative of all genders, sexualities, and relationship structures, and am kink-positive. In my work, I use a combination of treatment approaches to unearth your unconscious, challenge your thought patterns, and help you become more mindful and grounded.
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in New York City, providing therapy in both English and Spanish. I work one-on-one with folks navigating trauma, relationship challenges, maternal mental health, life transitions, and identity exploration. My approach focuses on slowing down to recognize the patterns in our lives—those that serve us and those that no longer do—so we can begin to move toward creating the life we want. I have experience supporting individuals impacted by domestic violence, gender-based violence, sexual abuse, immigration stressors, and LGBTQ+ issues, including gender identity. I take a collaborative, holistic approach to therapy, offering a safe, supportive space to slow down, reflect, and explore who you are and who you want to become. I believe our emotions offer meaningful insight. By understanding our patterns, we create space for healing, growth, and a more connected, authentic life. Life can be unpredictable and overwhelming, and you don’t have to navigate it alone. In therapy, we’ll explore ways to cope with challenges, reconnect with moments of joy, and find steadiness and strength in an ever-changing world. Together, we can safely explore how to thrive in a changing world.
Psychotherapy can benefit people facing a range of challenges. Currently, I see adults and adolescents struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship or interpersonal difficulties, and sometimes with health/illness issues. I see many people experiencing distress and other symptoms associated with life transitions such as adolescence, marriage, new parenthood or challenges in family planning, divorce, professional or personal role redefinition, retirement, and aging. I provide counseling to individuals and couples struggling with the shifting roles and demands of these complicated times. Therapy is a collaboration. I bring a warm, curious, nonjudgmental nature, an appreciation for individual differences, spontaneity and value of humor. Together, we explore patterns, thoughts, and feelings from the past and present. Clients begin therapy not only with identified concerns but also with resources that can be harnessed for lasting change. I use an active, contemporary approach to psychotherapy. I integrate psychodynamic, relational and cognitive-behavioral models and, where appropriate, health psychology, tailoring my work to each individual and their circumstances. My goal is to help people find relief from their suffering and to discover new ways of experiencing life to its fullest.

You may feel stuck, uncertain about yourself, overwhelmed by life transitions, or carrying the weight of the past. These moments hold emotional truths that deserve to be seen, heard, and understood. When we meet them with care and curiosity, they can become powerful entry points to deeper self-discovery and lasting self-compassion. The process of turning inward, increasing self-awareness and self-kindness, can be complex, but it often opens the door to meaningful growth. My role is to offer a safe, judgment-free space where this kind of exploration can unfold. I feel honored to walk alongside individuals as they reconnect with the parts of themselves that may feel lost, silenced, or in conflict. My approach is person-centered and psychodynamic, grounded in empathy and with a deep respect for your unique story. Together, we’ll explore your inner world at a pace that feels right for you. Individuals often share that they feel at ease in our sessions, able to speak freely, even when the emotions are difficult to name. Therapy with me is a collaborative process, grounded in trust, where you can feel empowered to take steps that align with your values. If you're ready to begin, or even just curious, I welcome you to reach out!

My name is Kate. I am a psychotherapist with 20 years experience in the field. My practice is LGBTQI+ focused, though clients of all identities work with me. Clients come to me to reduce distress and bring ease into their lives. I practice affirmative therapy that is trauma-informed, nonjudgmental, and direct. I view therapy as a collaborative journey towards self-discovery, healing, and symptom relief. During our first therapy session, we will outline your goals, discuss your expectations, and leave plenty of time for you to ask questions. We will create a therapy plan together that provides an environment for you to explore needs, process your past and present, and identify new approaches to challenges in your life. I utilize psychodynamic psychotherapy, behavioral therapies such as DBT and ACT, and attachment-focused psychotherapy. I believe therapy is an evolving process between client and therapist, and methods can shift as therapy unfolds. I conduct all sessions remotely via zoom. I have current availability for individual sessions and gender affirming surgery letters.
