Life presents each of us with an ever-evolving host of changes and transitions. This sense of change and transition can be even more pronounced for people encountering new opportunities along with new challenges. I work to support people in their processes of change, growth, exploration, and self-understanding, using an approach to therapy that is flexible, empathetic, and collaborative. My aim is to provide structure, consistency, and compassion that helps clients make decisions about how to proceed in different areas of life. This approach embraces complexity, allowing clients the freedom to explore while still maintaining a focus on their treatment goals. Whether someone seeks therapy for anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, grief, stronger emotion regulation, coping skills, or anything else, I take an approach tailored specifically to each client's needs.

I believe in meeting you exactly where you are. Guided by a commitment to collaboration, I seek to walk beside clients as they forge and discover their own path towards healing. My goal in therapy is to be fully present with clients as we explore their emotions, experiences, truths, hopes, challenges, and strengths, with the aim of helping folks build a life they truly desire. I seek to hold intentional space for processing intersecting experiences of oppression and privilege that impact clients’ lives. Whether facing challenges at school, in family or elsewhere in community, I work with clients to weave, unweave, and reweave the ways they hold their past, create presence in their present, and construct achievable goals for the future. It is my delight and priority to support clients in reconnecting with joy, strength, internal and communal power, as well as their role in individual and joint liberation. Some approaches to therapy that we could use together include but are not limited to: Anti-Oppression & Liberation Frameworks, Creative Arts & Play-Based Therapies, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness & Somatic Based Therapies, Narrative Therapy, Parts Work (influenced by elements of Internal Family Systems and Trauma-Informed Stabilization Therapy), and Person-Centered & Strengths-Based approaches. Some areas in which I have experience supporting individuals includes but is not limited to Neurodivergence (ADHD, Autism, etc.), Complex Trauma, and Identity.
Big changes have a way of shaking loose questions you thought you had already answered-about who you are, where you belong, and who you want to be. You don’t have to figure it all out alone. I work with students and young adults who are navigating these in-between phases that can be confusing and overwhelming.

Hi! My name is Tyania (ty-an-nuh) and I am a Black, queer, cisgender licensed therapist (LCMHCA) offering individual therapy at Healing Arts Collaborative in Durham, NC. My approach is rooted in the idea that profound healing occurs in the context of relationships. Our lives are dictated by the relationships that we do or don’t have, and a large part of how we discover ourselves is through reflection and feedback - being seen and understood by another. Being your authentic self can be challenging for many reasons, which is why I strive to make our time together a place of refuge where you can be your true self (or have the space to figure out who your true self is). You can find more information about me and Healing Arts using the below link to our website. Feel free to reach out with any questions!
I work predominantly with students who are navigating the change of college, interpersonal dynamics, anxiety, depression, and personality disorders. I hope that through our work together, we can find ways to help you thrive and reach your goals.
At Creasman Counseling, our diverse team is here to help you navigate the challenges of life - building skills, healing trauma, and cultivating resilience. We offer individual, group, and couples counseling incorporating a broad, evidence-based range of therapeutic approaches. We also offer medication management, clinical supervision, and social justice groups for providers.
I welcome individuals from all backgrounds. I prioritize working with any and all women, girls, members of the Queer and Trans communities, and expecting parents, ages 15+. As a cisgender white woman I am aware of the privileges I hold and I honor the perspectives, backgrounds, and lived experiences of my clients. I believe in a collaborative therapeutic process and therefore will ask for your input in goal-setting and treatment planning conversations. I will at times offer clinical guidance, but not before hearing what it is you are seeking and hoping to gain from your therapy experience. My work is trauma-informed, person-centered, and strengths-based, aimed at co-creating strong therapeutic rapport. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment (ACT), Mindfulness and Grounding, and Therapeutic Art. Through each of these interventions, I aim to strengthen and empower your voice and provide a safe space to be who you are, without judgment and without expectation.
I have been a practicing licensed clinical social worker for over 30 years in the Triangle area. I currently have space for a few new clients. I have a very open-minded, psychodynamic approach to therapy and definitely don't have a "one size fits all" approach. Every one I see in my practice is treated as a unique individual with their own needs. I do use CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), mindfulness, solution focused brief therapy and a family systems approach as a foundation point, but customize what works best depending on what feels right for you. I have two wonderful furry "co-therapists" who are often available to sit at your feet during sessions if we meet in person. I also offer tele therapy which is confidential, convenient and easier for many students. I have years of experience working with college aged students around adjustment and relationship issues, handling the stress of academics, anxiety, ADHD and life transitions. Although I am licensed to treat children, adolescents and adults I have enjoyed working with college and graduate students more than any other age group. I work 3 days per week and am happy to speak with you for a brief (free) phone consultation to see if my practice is a good fit for you!
Carolina Sexual Wellness Center is a nonprofit sex therapy and education center. We offer individual, family, relationship, and group therapy to clients coping with issues related to sex, sexuality and gender identity. As a sex therapy practice, we are comfortable and competent to treat a wide range of sexual issues from a knowledgeable and non-judgmental perspective. We are in-network with a number of insurance plans, and our STAAR Initiative (Sex Therapy At Affordable Rates) allows us to provide low cost therapy through our clinical interns.
Feeling overwhelmed by stress or caught up in worry? Have your efforts toward various goals—be it in relationships, health, career, etc.—left you feeling discouraged or disconnected? Maybe you're starting to recognize the ways fear, self-doubt, or old survival skills are holding you back. Are you eager to experiment with new actions and perspectives? I look forward to helping you discover your strengths and move in the direction of your unique values! Together, we'll target ineffective habits and beliefs to improve your mindset, mood, relationships, or overall health. I draw from an array of evidence-based therapies, with advanced training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). The power of therapy is feeling accepted, understood, and affirming our hope that change is attainable. I aim to cultivate 'psychological flexibility' by introducing new ways of thinking and behaving that enhance overall well-being. To schedule an appointment, please send a contact request. I look forward to meeting you!

Therapy is worth it and so are you! While life can be amazing, there is no doubt at times we will experience hardships. However, you do not have to navigate these struggles by yourself. By emphasizing collaboration, resiliency, optimism, and empowerment, I aim to equip my clients with the tools and resources needed to assist them in revamping and creating the life they are striving to live. I work with all genders, sexual orientations, races, and cultures & welcome clients as they are. I am trained in mindfulness, yoga, and trauma-informed care. I have experience working with adults, teenagers, & children. As a therapist, I encourage clients to be authentic and challenge their negative thinking while reminding them they are capable and amazing. If we do end up working together, prepare to be heard, encouraged, laugh, and most importantly, work to build the life you envision for yourself!
