Beginning therapy can feel overwhelming, especially if you haven't done it before. My goal is to allow you to feel comfortable as you transition into therapy by being warm, transparent, patient and affirming. I take a person centered approach which means I listen nonjudgmentally so you feel understood and supported in sessions. I meet clients where they are at and empower clients to decide what they want to focus on in sessions. I have primarily worked with young adults in my career. My experience allows me to adjust my approach to meet the unique circumstances of my clients and assist clients in times of crisis. Clients I serve often struggle to maintain stable relationships, need assistance navigating life transitions, and coping with their emotions.

Hi there! My name is Emersyn (they/them). I am a white, queer, nonbinary, neurodivergent human who is committed to lifelong learning and presently engaged in their own healing. I love working with other LGBTQIA2S+ folks around identity exploration, relationships, and feelings of erasure or invalidation within the community. I also enjoy working with neurodivergent individuals to identify strengths, needs, and ways to implement accommodations. I work with adults ages 18+ and children ages 6-10. I believe that children, like adults, have rich and dynamic inner worlds, behaviors, and concerns that deserve to be held with sincerity and curiosity. Previously, I have worked with adults with serious mental illness in a group home setting, as well as children with trauma histories in a special education setting. My therapy style is collaborative, systems-focused, person-centered, and casual. I am interested to learn about the familial, societal, and historical contexts that have shaped your/your child’s life. I trust you/your child to take the lead, and I will offer guidance along the way. Past clients have appreciated my genuineness, curiosity, and receptivity to feedback. I offer virtual and in-person sessions for adults and in-person sessions only for children, including outdoor/walk-and-talk (pending weather). Please note that I will be masking for in-person sessions due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. I will provide extra masks should you choose to wear one.

I am offering Teletherapy Services only. Hello and welcome. I view therapy as an active and collaborative process of working toward your goals together. Therapy is not a one size fits all treatment. It should built around your needs. My number one priority is to provide you with the tools to get back on a path that feels genuine and life affirming. I want to help you heal, break free from old habits, develop healthy coping skills, and find new ways to respond to life's challenging situations. Whether you are experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD or have experienced traumatic events, the decision to seek help is a sign of great strength. Brainspotting is a method to help heal clients who have suffered from trauma. It is a neurophysiological treatment that provides psychological, emotional and physical benefits. It appears that Brainspotting helps to harness the brains own ability to heal itself and the body from stored trauma. Biolateral sound can be used to help enhance the healing process. Brainspotting can also be used to work on sports and performance blocks, as well as concussions. My treatment approach is holistic, integrative, and personalized to your unique circumstances. I use a combination of Brainspotting, Emotional Freedom Techniques (aka tapping), talk therapy. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness techniques are also used to help people shift their personal narrative and develop skills to navigate life's challenges. I offer vibrational sound healing which shifts and clears energy from the body allowing your body to move back into harmony and vibrant health. This service is offered to enhance your healing journey and is not covered by insurance.
My Approach & Values Hope and the belief that it’s possible to recover are the foundation of the work I do. You deserve and can expect a full recovery. Keep in mind that medications are not the only modality available to treat mental illness. Many don’t experience full remission of symptoms with the available psychopharmacological treatment alone. However, there is empirical data that shows the efficacy of augmenting medication with psychotherapy and lifestyle changes. Simple changes aid individuals in regaining a meaningful life, even when recovery stalls. The goal is to gain control of your life back with emphasis on managing symptoms and building resilience. Some thoughts to keep in mind include the questions listed below. - How can we move forward? - What new goals could be set? - How can we get your new life back on track? - Can we work together to develop your support system? - What skills can you learn to cope with periods of crisis?
I specialize in providing individual therapy to adults experiencing OCD and/or eating disorders. I will be seeing clients in person in Pittsburgh starting in August 2023. I can see clients in Massachusetts via telehealth but I am not accepting any telehealth clients at this time.
