Therapists for college students near University of Colorado Boulder
If you're struggling, I want you to know it doesn't have to be so hard, and you don't have to go it alone. Together we can begin to understand and cope with emotions and situations which can seem overwhelming. Relationships can create such powerful movement in our lives, and offer real hope. I share a profound respect for your choice to begin therapy, and will provide a non-judgmental space to express yourself. Anxiety, loss, transition -- often these struggles give us opportunity to grow and deepen our knowledge of ourselves.
Finding a space where you can show up fully, exactly as you are, is where real change begins. My work centers on trauma-informed and culturally responsive counseling, with a focus on emotional regulation and the connection between mind and body. Whether you're navigating identity, processing past experiences, or moving through a significant life transition, this is a space built for your healing. Many of the people I work with are adolescents and adults who carry the weight of trauma, systemic stressors, and the ongoing work of understanding themselves. Those from marginalized and BIPOC communities are especially welcome here, where your experiences will be met with the validation, safety, and cultural awareness they deserve. Beginning therapy takes courage, and honoring that courage is something I take seriously. Together, we'll build insight, develop tools for lasting change and empowerment, and move forward in a way that feels authentic to who you are. Therapy, at its best, is a collaboration. My approach is relational and integrative, drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, and somatic-based practices that attend to both the emotional and physical dimensions of your experience. What that looks like in practice is a space that is nonjudgmental, responsive to your pace, and shaped around your unique story. These techniques help create a sense of safety as you explore your experiences with safety and validation while guiding how we engage with what's been most difficult. The goal isn't just symptom relief; it's a deeper sense of self-trust and the kind of healing that stays with you. No matter where you are when you walk in, you can expect a compassionate, collaborative partner who meets you there. A deep curiosity about how our experiences shape the way we see ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us is what first drew me to this work. Through training and time spent with a diverse range of patients, that curiosity evolved into a genuine commitment to care that is both trauma-informed and culturally responsive. What guides me in every session is a belief that each person's story deserves to be honored in its full complexity. Bringing a warm, attuned, and thoughtful presence to the room is how I create space for you to feel seen, supported, and understood. Outside of the therapy room, I find joy in hiking, walking my dog Jax, reality TV, staying chronically online, and losing myself in a good book across any genre. These moments of rest and play are how I stay grounded, and that same sense of presence and balance is something I bring into my work with you.

Welcome! I work with teens and young adults ages 16+ who are in all phases of the college/university process. My specialty is transition and the process of discovering who you are now that you are in college. This includes how to manage all the ups and downs of relationships, academics, family, and work. I use humor and a direct, warm approach along with evidence based techniques such as CBT, DBT, and Internal Family Systems to help you feel genuinely understood while you gain the tools you need to thrive. I see clients in person in Boulder, CO as well as via secure video sessions. I’m excited to meet you.
Are you looking to change behaviors but finding yourself falling back into old ways of thinking and doing? Are you stuck in an unhelpful cycle where you want to think or do something different but you just can’t seem to get unstuck? Do you want a way to work through difficult emotions? I specialize in addictive behaviors, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. I help people identify patterns that no longer serve them, gain insight into where these patterns began, and support them in breaking these mental, emotional, and behavioral habits so that they can live more freely in their lives.
I work with those facing life transitions, uncertainty, or longing for more fulfillment in their lives and relationships. I love to help individuals reconnect with their inner wisdom, find their joy and fuel their passions. We do this by addressing body, mind, heart and soul. I focus on honoring the inherent wisdom of the individual through times of crisis and wellness. I create a safe space and bring a warm, earthy approach to what I do with clients. As an LGBTQ+ ally, I celebrate diversity and welcome individuals of all sexual orientation and gender expression. Trained in family systems approaches, I love working with families to help incorporate & celebrate the wildly varying range of individual expression. Let's talk!
My role in our work together is to help you look deeper into your most pressing problems, and to assist you in working towards solutions that fit your life. I am happy to consult with you for just a few sessions, or to spend more time digging down to the roots of your struggles. I am passionate about helping you get unstuck from difficult patterns or situations, through coaching in relational skills, coping, and emotion regulation. I have seventeen years of experience with psychotherapy and brief therapeutic interventions, in public high schools and at the University of Colorado counseling center, as well as in private practice. I am trained in numerous modalities of treatment (see my website for more info.) I look forward to the opportunity to support you and strategize with you as you move towards a more authentic and grounded way of being in the world. My style is collaborative, warm, and empowering. We are skilled at working with you and your intersecting identities. Mission Statement: We are a group of depth-oriented mental health therapists who strive to embody values of liberation, welcome and honor all parts of our humanity, deeply appreciate intersectionality and empower all people to tell their story and experience acceptance, belonging and more meaningful relationships with self and others.
As a practicing psychologist for over 30 years (and a short time before that as an attorney), I understand the importance of having someone to speak with about our worries, questions, changes and even our daily lives. I see adults and adolescents who seek support in navigating stressful situations and not only reaching resolution on that issue, but also learning about themselves in deeper ways. I listen closely and with an open mind. I'm supportive and encouraging and help you make connections to patterns that can rework things you would like to change and do differently. Whether we are working on immediate problem resolution or exploring family/social dynamics, it's important that you feel understood, heard and supported in session. It's also important that you have direct, clear feedback that is experienced as helpful and insightful. Not every session is likely to be groundbreaking, but together, we can work toward defining and reaching your therapeutic goals.
Welcome! My name is Christie Morgan and I am a relational trauma therapist in Boulder, CO. I am passionate about helping couples and individuals experience personal and relational healing. Has your life been impacted by trauma and you feel like there is no one who can understand you? You may feel as if you are in survival mode and no longer know who the true you is. Or perhaps you feel alone in your relationship and wonder if you can ever restore the connection you once had. However you arrived here, you are welcome here. My goal is to create a safe space for you to heal as you experience feeling seen and known. I often begin with offering clients tools for navigating the difficult waters they are facing. Before entering into the deep healing work, I make sure that you feel stable and equipped to navigate the healing process. Together, we will rework the negative and shaming messages that hold you down and isolate you, so that you can love yourself amidst your imperfections and live life more fully. I empower my clients to discover wholeness through evidence-based modalities such as IFS (Internal Family Systems), Attachment theory, EFT (Emotion-Focused Therapy), and mind-body connection through a trauma informed lens. I believe that access to mental health should be a human right. We all deserve someone who can listen to us and help us navigate the difficult seasons of our lives. My goal is to be a safe person in my clients' lives. I am LGBTQ+ affirming and am passionate about creating safe spaces of belonging for clients in this community. A core part of my work as a therapist, who is passionate about social justice, is creating a kinder, safer, and more just world. This begins with people feeling safe and at home with themselves. My desire is that in fostering a safe space for clients to heal their trauma, they will become catalysts for healing as they, too, foster safe spaces within their families and communities. I am currently offering online and nature-based therapy sessions.
I was raised in a commune-style farm setting in rural Pennsylvania, and earned my BA from Middlebury College and then my MA in counseling psychology from Lesley College. I am currently pursuing her certificate in Modern Psychoanalysis at the Academy for Clinical and Applied Psychoanalysis in Livingston, NJ. I am a mother of three and a longtime practitioner of yoga, meditation, and Jin Shin Jyutsu (Japanese acupressure). These practices inform my interest in the well-being of the whole person. I provide a safe and comfortable space where you can explore the parts of your life that you value and also the parts you may want to change. My approach is to cultivate a sense of curiosity and kindness while supporting you in saying whatever is on your mind. As we put our thoughts and feelings into words, we tend to grow more comfortable in ourselves, even in the midst of discomfort. We may find ourselves in more positive relationships at home, at school, and at work. We may find more clarity about how we want to live our lives. Whether in person or online, I see the therapeutic process as a catalyst for reflection, exploration, self-understanding, and personal growth. Together, we will work to understand the richness of who you are and resolve whatever is getting in the way of achieving your personal and professional goals.
As a Stanford trained psychologist, I combine insight-oriented with skill-based therapy approaches to help young adults and adults with anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive symptoms find their way back to a fulfilling life. Do you feel sad and down for no apparent reason? Do you feel all alone and as though nobody understands you or sees your pain? Do you tend to overthink things? Do uncertainties of life scare you or do you feel like you need to control your environment to feel safe. You are not alone. Through my ability to read between the lines, I can see you and help you better understand yourself. We will work through subconscious challenges that interfere with your joy in life, growth, and path to healing. I also specialize in working with individuals and their family who struggle with the diagnosis of cancer or other medical conditions. I will help you find ways to cope with fear, loss and uncertainty related to your condition and make sense of your situation productively. Let's work together to help you thrive with your disease. PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT: In addition to therapy, I provide a variety of psychological assessment services, including mental health evaluations for adults in legal proceedings (civil and criminal); psychodiagnostic evaluations to inform treatment and clarify diagnostics; and neurocognitive assessments. Feeling overwhelmed, behind, anxious, unsure, or like you’re constantly juggling too much? College can bring intense pressure to perform, stay productive, and have a plan—often while managing relationships, family expectations, finances, and questions about who you’re becoming. Even when things are going well academically or socially, many students carry a quiet sense of stress, self-doubt, or disconnection that’s hard to put into words. College is often referred to as the “best years of your life,” yet it’s also a time of major transition and identity formation. You may be making important decisions about your future while still figuring out what you value, what you want, and how to trust yourself. It’s common to feel stuck, anxious, or alone during this period—especially when it seems like everyone else is more confident or has things figured out. How We’ll Work Together I pay close attention to the tension many young adults feel between the part of them seeking stability and the part longing for meaning. It’s common to feel torn between wanting security—a solid job, steady relationships, a clear plan—and wanting a life that feels authentic, purposeful, and alive. In our work, we’ll explore this inner conflict with curiosity rather than judgment and find a way forward that integrates both of these core desires. Many young adults also carry a quiet sense of “I should be further along by now,” shaped by family expectations, social comparison, and cultural pressure. Together, we’ll slow down these narratives and build a relationship to yourself that’s based on honesty, compassion, and your actual needs—not someone else’s timeline. We’ll explore patterns in your relationships, clarify your values, likes, and dislikes, and build skills that help you move through the world with more confidence and ease. Therapy becomes a place to practice new ways of relating: setting boundaries, being more authentic, understanding your emotional patterns, and building healthier relationships. We’ll look at where your values, instincts, and longings are trying to guide you, and how to make choices that align with who you’re becoming.
Are you struggling emotionally, socially or academically? Are you motivated to improve your life? Are you interested in cutting-edge technique? Are you wanting someone who is relatable and gets the challenges that young people face? Are you wanting to sort out what is really happening for you and feel empowered to do something about it? If so, contact me, Ryan Dawson, for a complimentary consult.
Although college can be a time of excitement and exploration, it can also feel extreme and bring up feelings that can be challenging to sort out on our own. Having the right support can make all the difference. At In Bloom Psychotherapy we are here to support you on this journey exactly as you are, helping you find the tools and resources to provide some relief and a better understanding of yourself. Among other issues, we specialize in working with trauma, PTSD, anxiety, grief, relational issues, depression, college athletes, and outdoor enthusiasts. We incorporate body awareness and mindfulness into sessions because talk therapy alone may not be enough to shift old patterns and create new neural pathways in the brain. Some of our clinicians are trained in EMDR therapy and utilize approaches such as parts work, IFS, DBT, CBT, mindfulness and attachment theory. We know finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming and daunting. If something in this bio resonates with you, please reach out for a free twenty-minute phone consultation.
