Welcome to Papilio Wellness, LLC. My name is Kathryn but family and friends know me as Katie. My clients often hear me say that being a human is hard. My approach to mental health counseling and high performance psychology does not focus simply on getting rid of challenges and difficulty, but rather aspires to honor what is good and right about you, and what makes each day worth living according to your beliefs, identities, values, and enriching relationships. Ultimately, I hope to help students like you move towards empowering the identities and values most important to you, building enriching relationships, and thriving in your chosen passions. I offer in person services in Lawrence, KS, and telehealth services across 42 states (https://psypact.gov/page/psypactmap). I have extensive experience and passion working with undergraduate and graduate students, including student-athletes, and students who identify as autistic and/or have been diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum. My aim is to provide a space that invites exploration of challenging yet vital places of growth in the service of what is most important to you in your life and performance space. In particular, I love supporting students' resilience to shame ("not enoughness"), self-criticism, pressure to be perfect, social and performance anxiety, body image concerns, grief and loss, panic, and trauma. At my core, I am inspired by feminist and multicultural approaches to healing that seek to interrupt systems of oppression that impact you. From that core, I use trauma-informed, evidence-based methods like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and self-compassion to support you in taking action towards what matters even in the presence of challenge. Finding a good fit is so vital to your counseling or sport psychology wants, and can be such an emotionally taxing journey. After an initial meeting, if you don't feel there is a great fit between us, I will work hard to connect you to people who may be a better fit for you. Let's make this process as stress-free and successful for your needs as we can.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with six years of experience, my work is dedicated to helping children, adolescents, and young adults from all backgrounds navigate life's challenges. Whether you're working through trauma, a mental health diagnosis, emotional dysregulation, behavioral challenges, family or social conflict, or a difficult life transition, you don't have to face it alone. My specialties include PTSD and trauma, anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, mood disorders, personality disorders, and adjustment disorders. Beyond diagnosis, I also support patients with stress management, self-esteem, social skills, coping skill development, and crisis intervention. Wherever you are in your journey, my goal is to be a compassionate, trustworthy partner who meets you exactly where you are, because you deserve to feel heard, empowered, and confident in your growth. Collaborative, trauma-informed, and strengths-based care is at the heart of everything I do. Each of our sessions is built on authenticity and compassion, and I tailor my approach to your unique situation and needs so that what we work on together feels meaningful and relevant to your life. You can expect a space that is nonjudgmental and genuinely supportive. Using an integrated therapeutic approach, we'll work through life's hardships in a way that honors your experiences and builds on your existing strengths. The goal is for you to feel understood, capable, and empowered to create lasting, meaningful change. My path to this work was shaped by a deeply personal experience during graduate school, where I encountered hardship, judgment, and misunderstanding from professional counselors based on my own identities. Rather than diminish my passion, that experience ignited it, clarifying exactly the kind of therapist I wanted to be: one who shows up with full authenticity and compassion for every person who walks through the door. Working with children, adolescents, and young adults has been a central part of my life for as long as I can remember. These times taught me that even one person, with genuine positivity and empathy, can make a meaningful difference for someone who has never had that kind of relationship before. This belief grounds my work every day. I bring an open-minded perspective to each session because I believe you hold the key to overcoming the challenges you've faced. My role is to walk alongside you as you find it. Outside of sessions, you'll find me coloring, tackling puzzles, playing board games, or heading outdoors for an adventure. Staying active and creative keeps me grounded, and I bring that same energy and curiosity into the care I provide.

Charlie Health is a virtual behavioral health program for adolescents and young adults with moderate or severe mental health concerns or co-occurring substance use or eating disorders. Designed to meet the needs of those who require more than weekly therapy, our program combines curated group therapy, individual therapy, and family therapy into personalized treatment programs. We are helping to serve those who are in crisis, or have been historically underserved, by eliminating the most significant treatment barriers: geographical and financial access. We work with nearly all commercial insurance nationwide and have no waitlist, thereby helping people access quality, evidence-based care regardless of insurance, location, or other barriers.
We are an inclusive counseling and wellness practice specializing in providing quality affirming evidence-based therapy for adults, couples, families and groups in Colorado, Maine, and Texas. We emphasize a caring, collaborative, and holistic approach that will help encourage and guide our clients in their journey through life. The foundation of our practice is built on providing accessible mental health therapy, especially to those in the LGBTQIA+ community, allies, and others on the margins of society who desire to be seen, understood and valued. It is our belief that every person has unique value and deserves to be treated with unconditional kindness, dignity, respect, and acceptance. You are welcome here!

“Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion.” – bell hooks The healing journey can be an intimidating path, and you don’t have to travel it alone. I believe that the role of a therapist is to walk beside you on your healing path. My top priority is to create a safe, accepting space where you can explore your inner landscape and develop skills to navigate your outer world. I am a trauma-informed, intersectional feminist who cares deeply about helping clients reclaim their power and reconnect to their voice. In my person-centered, strengths-based therapeutic environment, I integrate EMDR, expressive writing and arts exercises, trauma-informed mindfulness techniques, and talk therapy to help you reconnect to yourself and your self-worth. I am passionate about working with people who have experienced abusive relationships, sexual assault, grief and loss, chronic illness, and various traumas. I am also a queer person who loves supporting my community members. It can be hard to reach out for help. If you're ready to take the next step, I’m here to support you in your healing. Have you ever wondered what therapy could be like using art materials and activities? I support college students and young adults use the power of creativity to process emotions, gain insight, work through challenges, and overcome hardships through transformative art. My style is relational, collaborative, and mindful. My clients describe me as: Grounded, relatable, supportive, humorous, comforting, non-judgmental, and patient. Using materials like paint, clay, and pastel, you'll explore your emotions, build self esteem, take healthy risks, problem solve, and sometimes just play and discover! You'll also practice coping skills, mindfulness, body awareness, relational skills, boundary setting, identifying/processing/regulating emotions, & dive into how your thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected.
