Do you feel sad, overwhelmed or stuck? Are you facing a difficult life transition or maybe you are struggling in your relationship? The circumstances of life can leave us feeling alone and uncertain of what lies ahead. We are more than our problems. We were not designed to face these deep challenges alone. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, stress, aging, family conflict or life transitions, I’m here to work with you. In our deeply isolated and atomized society, seeking help can be a radical act. It can also require a leap of faith; you are trusting that someone you do not know will be able to help you navigate the challenges you face. By being here, you have already begun the work that will set you on a path toward greater connectedness and contentment. My passion is helping and together we will co-create ways for you to find hope, meaning, identify patterns, overcome obstacles and develop a pathway to meet your goals. I work with adolescents age 16 through adults offering individual, couples and family counseling. I aim to create a safe and compassionate space to help you understand your experiences and relationships with greater ease and more joy. Deep, loving and mutually gratifying relationships can happen in many configurations. In a non-judgmental way, I work to support you in having the relationships you want to have with the people you love.

Hey! I’m Tim, and I specialize in helping high schoolers, college students, and young adults find meaning and feel more grounded. Life as a young person can be tough. You might be struggling with anxious thoughts and feelings, navigating your relationships and responsibilities, and building your identity. I provide a friendly, nonjudgemental space to help you learn more about yourself, create change, and ultimately feel better. I have extensive experience working with students at CU Boulder or BVSD schools. I work hard to make sure that each of our sessions together will feel productive, cathartic, and even enjoyable. Therapy with me consists of lots of learning, healthy confrontation, and usually some laughter. Our work together can help you take tangible steps towards your goals. My approach is to connect with you, to meet you right where you are in your life. I won’t presume to know what’s right for you (it’s really you that’s the expert when it comes to what’s right for you.) Sometimes, confusion clouds your ability to find your way – that’s why you’re here… My experience and training will help guide you back to health and wellness. I’ll join you as you do the work, so that you’re not alone working your way back. I can see you clearly, even when you can’t. For me, it’s simply natural to relate to you in whatever state you are in. Life is sometimes messy, ugly, embarrassing, painful, or shameful – but I see more than what you are going through or feeling in the moment. I am good at joining with you in your struggles and will even hold hope when it’s hard for you to do so. Change is often hard and it’s my privilege to share in your journey toward a life filled with less anxiety, deeper meaning, more joy, and relationships that are healthy and secure.

I believe that therapy is a unique experience that provides a safe place to assist in acknowledging resiliency, providing hope and cultivating healing and growth within individuals and interpersonal relationships. All clients come in with their own personality, strengths, struggles, and differing walks of life. In order to match this, I operate from a person-centered approach and emphasize each individual’s strengths to empower and challenge them to grow while assisting in defining their own goals and successes. While I have experience in working with individuals, couples and families, I have found that my passion lies within helping adolescents and young adults navigate the challenges that naturally come along with this exciting, yet stressful season of life. As many clients come to therapy not of their own choosing or with skepticism, I place emphasis on building a therapeutic relationship with validation, trust, accountability, candid feedback and a little bit of humor as needed! Enough about me, I can't wait to learn more about you! -Ashley

A lot of people say they knew at a young age they would be a therapist, but that wasn’t me. I grew up in a military family and thought I would continue that tradition and be a stay-at-home mom. Instead, I found myself in a journalism career and a marriage I didn’t like. Starting over after 30, I chose to return to school and pursue a degree in social work. Since then, I’ve worked with the military, in inpatient facilities, and in outpatient care. I love working with women who find themselves “outside the box” when it comes to societal expectations (child-free/childless, unmarried, or just a-plain-ol’ rebel). I love to focus on resiliency, self-improvement/self-esteem, personal growth, and even a bit of spirituality (if that's your thing). I'm a very laid-back, nontraditional therapist. I believe you are the expert in your own life and, sometimes, we just need some guidance or permission to do the things we know we need to do. I don't assign homework cause, frankly, I wouldn't do it if I were in your shoes, but I will suggest some tasks or actions that may be something to focus on between sessions. I also expect clients to show up with a discussion topic or something to start us off with; again, the time is yours to use as you feel best. I have very eclectic interests. Two things that are very important to me are spirituality and non-traditional relationships. I feel both have their own challenges and prejudices to overcome. I'm always looking for ways to include and incorporate my client's spiritual beliefs (if they choose to share) into sessions and help them build a strong foundation. Nontraditional relationships (including kink dynamics) can be a challenge to bring to therapy as there's often a perceived level of judgment—not here! I celebrate however your relationship looks and work to help you create the most nurturing and healthy relationship however that looks. One of my core values is curiosity, so I love it when I get to learn a little something from my clients. Having grown up in a military family that moved every three years like clockwork, learning about people and cultures has been a huge part of my life. I encourage my clients to practice showing and embodying their authenticity with me so they may go out into the world more confidently. I believe we all have something beautiful to share and learn from each other and I encourage those I work with to explore that on a deeper level.

College is a time of transition and change. This can be a time of struggle and existential anxiety for many people. Everyone has times of uncertainty. I will help you explore who you are and what your predicaments are as you become more yourself. You do not have to do this alone. I have many years experience working with people in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics at all levels. Together we can explore your life and relationships to discover ways in which you can live more authentically, in alignment with your values. I trained and worked in England before moving to Boulder in 2010. I have worked with students and academics all over the world and have over 30 years experience as a therapist; I bring all of that with me as I meet each new client. I will help you describe, clarify and unravel your relationship to the world, your self and other people. We do not have to start with your childhood.

We are starving to discover the truth, to show the world who we really are, and we need to have our truth held with compassion. We all want to experience being fully seen. We want to feel connected to others. Sadly, many of us don’t often experience being seen in a non-judgmental light. My strength as a therapist is in my capacity to recognize your preciousness and your capacity for wholeness, while helping you to align with your truth. I work with individuals, couples, families, children, adolescents, and groups to heal past wounds and evolve out of patterns of self-sabotage. Throughout our work I will support you in cultivating self-compassion, resilience and empowerment. I focus on the impact of trauma, and a variety of disorders including anxiety, depression, insomnia, personality disorders, eating disorders and chronic pain issues. Within a trusting therapeutic relationship, my clients and I co-create a foundation which allows clients to hone into their intuition, improve their relationships, decrease emotional suffering, and increase their overall joy. I use a mindfulness-body-centered approach, integrating many modalities, cultural responsiveness and evidenced-based research.
