My philosophy of counseling is based on the belief that you possess the power to change, and that my role is to help you become aware of how to understand and utilize that power. My goal is to first listen and fully understand your need(s). After that, I will work side by side with you to develop the insights, tools and skills necessary for you to achieve the goals and changes you are seeking to make. I may draw upon various approaches, including Grief Centered Therapy, Person-Centered, Solution Focused Brief Practice, Emotion Focused and CBT. My hope is that our sessions will help you to feel empowered to challenge your internal thinking process to create positive change in your life. I believe these approaches will help to bring about effective long-term results, by helping you to discover how to utilize your own inner strengths and gifts. You are invited to, at any time, ask questions about what we are doing and the reasons for the interventions. This is your process and investment. Please contact me for a free consultation.
"I am falling apart on the inside. "This world wasn't built for me." "I am always overwhelmed all the time." "My best never feels good enough." If these thoughts have crossed your mind, I promise you aren’t alone. I hear you, and I want to help. I believe therapy doesn’t happen in a vacuum — our lives are shaped by systems, cultures, and histories that can both support and harm us. In our work together, we’ll look not only at your personal experiences but also at the broader context you live in. My goal is to honor your identity, acknowledge the impact of oppression and marginalization, and create a space where all parts of you feel seen and valued. I draw from person-centered, narrative, existential, and ACT, IFS-informed parts work, and emotionally focused therapy (EFT) approaches, always centering you as the expert in your own life. Together, we’ll explore your story, build on your strengths, and work toward the changes that feel most meaningful to you.
Need a place to explore your identity? Need support around microaggressions you have been experiencing? You may be in need of a non-judgmental healing space to process the daily stressors that come with holding oppressed identities. You deserve to feel empowered and supported. I am Black, non-binary, and queer. These identities inform my practice. I utilize a trauma-informed, social justice lens to look at client concerns in a wholistic manner taking into account systems of oppression, and experiences of trauma. I want my clients to see and value the strengths that they themselves hold.
You've been wondering about therapy, but find reasons that keep getting in the way of reaching out. Sometimes it feels hopeless, or wonder if YOU might be hopeless. You might ask what's the point? Nothing is working. You've tried to talk to people in your life, but you don't want to burden them and fear they wouldn't understand; or worse- they could judge you. You try to make up for it but always seem to fall short, a constant feeling of disappointment. Nothing's enough and you wonder, "Am I enough?" You're curious; therapy could help. You don't want to keep repeating the same patterns; or feel stuck anymore. So here you are, taking a huge risk and thinking about talking to a total stranger. It's hard to imagine life getting better, but deep down you long for it. You CRAVE balance. You want the critical voice to stop, you want to feel happy, connected, worthy & enough. You want to quit the comparisons, bad habits, the shame & feeling responsible for everything. I'm here to help you figure out what "happiness" means for you and how to get unstuck. Together, we can achieve what you want. I utilize an eclectic, warm, compassionate and genuine approach. I am trained in EMDR, specialize in trauma and addiction. “The best way out is always through." -Robert Frost This quote exemplifies my philosophy toward counseling, emotional healing and personal growth. When we are struggling with emotional issues, relationship distress or transitions in our lives we often need to work through these to gain insight, relief, emotional growth and healing. My approach to treating individuals is informed by my training in ACT, CBT, DBT, IFS, Schema Therapy and Interpersonal Neurobiology. My approach to treating couples is informed by my training in PACT, Gottman Method, EFT and EFFT. I am Jodi Seidel a Licensed Professional Counselor. I enjoy working with Couples & Individuals experiencing a wide variety of issues such as; emotional distress, transitional and relationship issues, binge eating disorder, attachment injury and trauma. I view the therapeutic relationship as a partnership that I am honored to be walking through with you. I provide a supportive environment allowing clients to first work through problematic symptoms, gain relief, then curiously explore underlying issues that will lead to a deeper understanding of self, relationships, emotional repair and healing.
I specialize in helping individuals recovery from eating disorders, disordered eating, compulsive/obligatory exercise, body image distress and associated anxiety and depression. I practice virtually in Colorado so accessing counseling is flexible and convenient. I understand the challenges of academic rigor at Mines and have worked with many Mines students -undergrad and grad. Fun fact: I majored in Chemistry and decided in the end I was more interested in people than molecules. I've been supporting people in eating recovery for over a decade. My clients tend to find me approachable, non-judgmental, and action oriented.

I provide individual and couples psychotherapy and use a relational approach to collaboratively explore with clients ways we learn early in our lives to cope with uncomfortable emotions that often contribute to current problems. I specialize in working with people struggling in their close relationships and those committed to improving their understanding of their feelings and themselves. My ultimate hope and goal is to help clients to increase their capacity to respond to future challenges with more resilience, insight, and self compassion. People who tend to benefit the most from working with me in therapy often feel overwhelmed due to grief, loss, or trauma or have difficulty maintaining healthy, loving connections. I particularly enjoy helping clients looking to improve the quality of their close relationships and those interested in deepening their comfort with emotions. I also work quite a bit with individuals seeking ongoing personal growth and exploring how to live their most fulfilling and meaningful lives possible. I believe wholeheartedly we can lead happier and more fulfilling lives by exploring our deepest, most vulnerable emotions to discover our authentic selves. As a licensed psychologist my training and experience allow me to help clients overwhelmed by painful feelings or stressful life events along with those seeking ongoing personal growth and a deeper and more meaningful sense of contentment in their lives. Hey, there! I'm Elise and I look forward to guiding you while you navigate the challenges of this messy thing called "life." With a background in coaching, yoga, and holistic health, I can help you reclaim your power, vitality, and authentic expression. I practice a warm, relatable, and engaging style of therapy. If we work together, you will find that my approach combines evidence-based practices, my own heart-centered intuition, and an occasional sprinkle of humor.
My ideal client is motivated to improve their quality of life and may struggle with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and grief/trauma related issues. They are interested in understanding themselves and cultivating healthy coping strategies to deal with the challenges of our modern world, with the ultimate goal of thriving, not just surviving. They understand that we all have the opportunity to continue growing and want to live a more self-expressed life by identifying and challenging negative and self-limiting thinking patterns. I compassionately support and validate my clients, while also encouraging them to take on the challenges in their life. I have significant experience with mindfulness practices and believe in the power of creativity (writing, music, art) as a therapeutic tool. Most people are settling for less than what their lives can possibly be. I am committed to helping you lead a self-expressed life and to help you see all the ways that you are a gift to yourself and others. I do not have all the answers, but I believe that together we can inspire each other and produce breakthroughs you may not think are possible.
Clients who enjoy working with me may be struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction, or adjustment to a new way of life. Transitioning into college requires a lot of people in our modern age, and it can be intimidating and isolating. I provide psychodynamic therapy, CBT, and mindfulness to help people discover their strengths, meaning and purpose, and find life to be therapeutic itself.
There's something different about you. Maybe you're figuring out what sexuality, gender, and romantic life can look like, or exploring polyamory or kink. Maybe you're a plural system. Or maybe your life has been changed by traumatic experiences. You may view the world through a neurotype or spiritual lens that doesn’t match the people around you. It might be really hard to trust people--to risk opening up about what you're dealing with. I get it. It’s hard to know who actually has your back. And trying to find the right counselor when you're already struggling with so much can feel impossible. That's where I come in. My job is to listen--to get to know you and help you shape your life into what *you* want it to be. As your therapist, I'll help you work toward the life you want, based on your specific situation and needs. I won't blame you, or try to change you in ways that you don't want, or force you to talk about things that are too hard. You might feel overwhelmed, but you've made it this far. You're taking steps toward feeling better--feeling okay. I know you're in pain, and I believe you're doing your best. But when things aren't working, you don't have to try to figure it all out alone. Send me an email, or a text, or a phone call. We can figure it out from here, together.
College is usually sold as "the best years of your life," but for a lot of students, it feels more like a non-stop cycle of pressure. At Alpine Creek, we work best with students who are tired of pretending they have it all figured out. Most of our student clients come to us because they feel like they’re just "getting by" rather than actually living. What it often feels like: Constant Brain Fog: You’re physically in class, but your mind is stuck on your to-do list, your grades, or a conversation that went wrong three days ago. The "Social Battery" is Dead: Trying to find your place on campus or dealing with roommate drama is leaving you feeling more drained than connected. Relationship Stress: Whether it's a long-distance struggle or a new relationship here in town, you’re arguing more and feeling less understood. Heavy Weight: You might be carrying things from your past, like trauma or old family stuff, that feels like it’s getting heavier now that you’re on your own. The "What’s the Point?" Feeling: It’s hard to stay motivated when you’re dealing with deep sadness or an anxiety that won't let you catch your breath. How we help: We don’t do "clinical" or "stuffy" therapy. We provide a straightforward, safe space to just be a human. We help you look at the patterns that keep you stuck and give you actual tools to manage the panic, the low moods, and the relationship blowouts.
