Privacy Policy

We take your privacy seriously. We only require users to provide the minimal information needed to help connect students with mental healthcare providers. This document outlines what information we collect from you and how we use it while you're on ThrivingCampus (also referred to here as the "website").

For Everyone

The following policies ("For Everyone") apply to all users of the website regardless of role, but there may be additional policies or exceptions based on your role in the community. Please reference the role-specific policies outlined below (e.g., "For Students") for more details on what information we collect and how we use it.

What information do we collect?

We collect personally identifiable information from you when you create a personal account on the website. We ask you for your name, email address, and phone number.

We issue every visitor a unique session ID for each session and we store that session ID as a cookie on your browser, but we only save the session ID in our system if you take an action like emailing or scheduling an appointment with a therapist. Learn more about how we use cookies below.

In addition, we maintain logs of site activity in order to gauge our users' interest levels in areas of the website, which and how many pages they view, how long they stay, and which Web browsers and devices they use. This data is tracked in aggregate form and is not uniquely identifying. The aggregate level data may be shared with third parties and the public.

How do we use your information?

We only use information we collect to provide you the services offered on this website.

We never sell your information.

We share information with third-parties only when needed to deliver to you products or services that you request. For example, while we do not read or retain emails sent via this website, we may use third-parties to process and deliver these messages for the purposes of ensuring the messages are delivered reliably and we are not delivering spam or abuse to community providers.

This website may contain links to third-party websites, and these websites may collect information about you. The third parties may have their own privacy policies that differ from ours. Links to third-party websites are not endorsements; we are not responsible for personal information collected and/or used on third-party websites.

Limitations

We make every effort to preserve your privacy, but we cannot guarantee your privacy. Further, we may disclose personal information when required by law or where we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on us. We may also disclose personal information in cooperation with a law enforcement request.

For Students

The following policies are in addition to those that apply for everyone. These only apply to students.

What information do we collect?

We collect personally identifiable information from you when you send email to a provider using our contact forms. We ask you for your name, email address and optionally your phone number. We do not read or retain the name, email address, phone number or message in your contact form submissions. Emails sent to providers using our contact forms are unencrypted, so we advise limiting the personal detail of such messages to the minimum necessary to arrange a phone consultation.

How do we use your information?

In some cases, you may book phone appointments with mental healthcare providers using the website. When you do this, we share your contact information with the provider so they may contact you to conduct the scheduled phone call as requested.

Additional (optional) consent

Unless otherwise outlined here, we will not share your personally identifiable or protected health information with anyone without your explicit consent. By default, any action you take on this website is not shared with your school's counseling center. You must explicitly opt-in to sharing any personally identifiable or protected health information with your school's counseling center.

However, any time we think it might be beneficial for you to share data with your counseling center, we will let you know and we will ask you for your permission to do so. Granting us that permission is never required.

For Counseling Centers

The following policies are in addition to those that apply for everyone. These only apply to counseling center staff.

How do we use your information?

When sharing de-identified referrals with community providers, we share your email address and phone number so they may contact you directly regarding the referral.

For Providers

The following policies are in addition to those that apply for everyone. These only apply to providers.

What information do we collect?

We collect basic information about your practice in order to match you with students needing care, like your physical practice address, hours and availability, insurances accepted, rates, specialties, and treatment options.

Additionally, we request (but do not require) you to provide some personal information that may also help match you with students, such as your gender(s), sexual orientation(s), race(s) and ethnicities, languages spoken and a personal photograph.

How do we use your information?

Unless explicitly indicated, all information that you share in your profile is publicly available and will be shared with students and counseling center staff.

We never share your email address with students. We do, however, share your email address with counseling center staff so they may contact you regarding a referral.

Cookies

We may use "cookies" to create a personalized experience for our users and to optimize the performance of our website. Cookies cannot be used to find your name, email address, or anything that is uniquely identifying about you, unless you provide that information. We use cookies for those applications that require us to keep track of information to customize results, like when you log in to your personal account. We use cookies to help track aggregated, anonymous behavior so that we may understand how our website is being used and improve its performance for users. If you don't have your browser set to accept cookies, certain areas of the website may not function properly.
