Hi, I’m Courtney Winston and I believe everyone has a story that deserves to be heard and honored. My passion for mental health comes from witnessing the struggles of people close to me and realizing how powerful it can be to get to the root of what someone is going through. I’m here to help you explore your values, uncover your strengths, and create meaningful, lasting change. In sessions, I focus on building a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel supported and empowered. I meet you where you are, helping you clarify your goals and guiding you to make progress at your own pace to help you better understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and to build greater self-awareness and accountability. I believe in your ability to grow, heal, and move forward—and I’d be honored to support you on that journey. Let’s work together to strengthen your sense of self and take meaningful steps toward the life you want.

My passion in counseling centers around helping clients heal from past trauma, while facilitating the rewiring of their nervous systems. I focus on supporting their journey toward feeling open to connection and personal growth. I would be honored to work with you and help you find the path that's going to help you make peace with the past, and write a new story moving forward. A story where you can be your own beacon of safety for yourself and for others. Healing from past traumatic experiences is possible, I've seen it for myself, and I fully believe it's possible for you as well. With a BA in Nursing in addition to my MA in counseling, my nursing background greatly influences my approach to counseling. I try to educate my clients on how the brain and how our nervous system works as much as possible, so that my clients can leave each session feeling empowered to work with their nervous system, and not against it. Together we can create the right goals, with the right timeline, that equip and empower you to see your beautiful self in a whole new light, with a sense of agency, and hope for your future. I encourage you to reach out for a free 30 minute consultation to see if we would be a good fit for each other, hope to hear from you soon!

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Dallas, TX

I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). I obtained both my Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas at Tyler. I have over 11 years of experience in nursing working in various fields and with a variety of patient populations. I have experience working with patients needing mental health services both inpatient and outpatient. I am dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with mental health concerns by increasing access to those needing mental health treatment while providing support, compassion, and understanding. I am here for the patient and want to ensure that all his or her needs are met. I have a passion for working in mental health services and genuinely care about each individual. I listen to his or her concerns and history to develop a diagnosis and formulate a treatment plan with the patient. The patients preferences and needs will lead the treatment approach initially and going forward. I include the patient in all aspects of care. Listening to his or her concerns, symptoms, and history is an important starting point in developing a diagnosis. The diagnosis is thoroughly discussed with the patient and I will answer any questions that present. Following the diagnosis, a plan of care is developed with the patients input. Patient preferences for therapy, medication, or both, are included in the treatment plan, and any referrals necessary will be made. Medication, if necessary and agreed upon, will be called in to the patients preferred pharmacy and any remaining questions or concerns will be addressed. A follow-up visit to assess ongoing effectiveness of the treatment plan will be made. At consecutive appointments, any necessary changes to the treatment plan will be made. However, I am available for concerns, questions, or needs that may arise prior to follow-up visits when needed.

Do you ever feel like your mind just won’t turn off—replaying conversations, worrying about things that haven’t even happened yet, and finding it impossible to relax? Many of the people I work with experience these same struggles. They often share that they feel exhausted, disconnected, and like their lives lack meaning as they work tirelessly to keep it together on the outside. Anxiety, depression, and trauma can quietly weave their way into our lives and, if left unchecked, can take control and lead us into a downward spiral. Let me help you lighten the weight of these burdens and begin healing together.

Do you find yourself thinking, "Something is wrong. Why am I feeling this way?" Do you have times when you feel overwhelmed and tense? Are you afraid of failing and that you will never feel good enough? I want to help ease your anxiety and walk with you through your depression. I'll help shine some light on your concerns, so that you will not have to feel alone in your thoughts and feelings. We're going to figure this out together. My ultimate goal is for you to have discrete tools and techniques that you can use wherever you may be. I have had the opportunity to work in multiple settings including psychiatric hospitals, outpatient centers, autism clinics, private practice, a school, & a non-profit agency; this has led me to tailor my counseling techniques for each unique individual in their environment. Psychiatrist
Houston, TX

Victoria Duru is a board-certified nurse practitioner in psychiatry and family medicine who started her career as a young staff nurse over 15 years ago and worked her way up. She received her Master’s of Science in Nursing from Walden University in Minnesota, Minneapolis. After graduating she worked at a Correctional facility in Houston, TX. Her experience demonstrated the gap between medical and psychiatric care, and how the mind/body connection is often overlooked. The gap in care motivated Victoria to pursue a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner certificate at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley so that she can develop a practice that integrates medicine and mental health for the most effective treatment.
