Our priority is helping you find the solution that works best for you, by listening carefully and asking the right questions before working with you to create a tailored plan to address your needs. We genuinely care about people and use the modalities and techniques that work best for the individual. We work with a wide variety of people with an even wider variety of needs. We both do a lot of work with trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, LGBTQIA challenges, and aging or life transition issues. Carol E. O. We are committed to helping people heal and create happier, healthier lives. Often, trauma, grief, anxiety, or depression are part of the story that needs healing. Through the use of expressive therapies like EMDR, art, or sandtray our counselors can help you ease symptoms and find your own path to a happier life. It takes immense courage to reach out and ask for help. Sometimes we may not know exactly what is causing our troubles, only that we have been struggling for some time. At HopeWise our counselors can help you find calm in the chaos so that you can begin the healing process. Our therapists use mindfulness, relaxation techniques, EMDR, or other coping skills to help you find a feeling of safety and calm. Finding a sense of calm is just one benefit of counseling. Understanding our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and how they come to be can be an important tool in creating a happier life. Our counselors can help you explore and learn how to develop healthier thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that are true to your own values. We invite you to start your healing journey today. Howdy! My name is A.B. and I’m a queer, nonbinary therapist born and raised right here in Texas. Don’t let the folksy exterior fool you: growing up in a small town taught me to treat strangers like family, to uplift and respect the folks around me, and, as my granddad always said, “If you can help ’em, then help ’em.” I’ve brought those values into my therapy work and left the bigotry and systemic oppression behind like the hogwash it is. I practice from a place of cultural humility, guided by the stories, strengths, and values my clients bring to the table. You’re the expert on your life, I’m just here to walk alongside you, bringing the tools I’ve got in my toolbelt to help you navigate whatever’s weighing you down. There’s nothing too big we can’t face together, and I trust that with you in the lead, we can work toward the outcomes you’re hoping for in therapy. I specialize in supporting clients through trauma, grief, mood disorders, LGBTQ+ issues, neurodivergence, identity exploration, crisis recovery, and relationship challenges. I also love working with children and their families around emotional regulation, school and family stress, and communication. I’ve got a soft spot for neurodivergent kids (and adults!) and bring a lot of energy and creativity into that work. In session, I pull from a variety of therapeutic approaches, including CBT, DBT, ACT, solution-focused, narrative, and collaborative therapies, plus a lot more. So don’t be surprised if I throw in a little art-making, somatic work, or IFS (parts work) now and then. I’m committed to being a lifelong learner, and if something isn’t clicking, I’ll work with you to find what does. I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Sam Houston State University in 2023, and before that, I got my B.A. in Theatre Education. So I’m definitely open to getting creative in sessions, though just plain talkin’ is great, too. Outside of therapy, I love baking, storytelling in all its forms (theatre, concerts, poetry slams, and tabletop RPGs), and learning about folks whose lives are different from mine. I also enjoy spending time with my partner and our beloved pets Pip, Charlie, and Winston. If you think I might be the right counselor for you, I’d be honored to meet you. Feel free to email me at ab@vadacounseling.com or schedule a free consultation online.
I’m Zac. My pronouns are they/them. I am a queer, nonbinary, and neurodivergent therapist and creative. I believe strongly in the power of connection, prioritizing things we enjoy, and maintaining curiosity, and those values guide my time with clients. I have years of experience working with college students of all ages and I'm passionate about offering support during an exciting, overwhelming time. I specialize in supporting LGBTQIA+ folks; individuals with Autism, ADHD, and/or Neurodivergence; those with interpersonal and chronic trauma, and those new to therapy. My hope for our time together is that you feel seen and heard, that you don’t worry about being judged or rejected—any of the feelings that make it difficult to speak up in life! Removing those barriers makes so much possible. I incorporate Relational-Cultural Therapy (RCT), mindfulness, realistic self-care, social justice and feminist theory, creative expression, creative coping strategies, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), safety planning, and fat & body liberation work. Ultimately, how I approach our sessions will be tailored to you.
I know life can be difficult, whether you're facing trauma, anxiety, sexual challenges, or the intricacies of autism. You don't have to face these difficulties alone. I enjoy working with individuals and couples over the age of 18, creating a supportive space tailored to your unique needs and goals. I believe that you’re the expert on your life, and I’m here to listen and provide a space where you feel safe to reflect and explore. Whether you're struggling with past pain, current stress, or just trying to figure out your next steps, we’ll work together to move forward at your pace.
College is exciting! It can also be terrifying, overwhelming, and lonely. Even if you have your educational and career path chosen and locked in. For most young adults, it's their first time living independently and truly stepping into this thing called adulthood. There is a new level of responsibility that can feel like it's too much. Do you find yourself feeling anxious before classes or social events that are supposed to be THE thing in college? Maybe you're finding it harder and harder to get out of bed, go to work, complete your assignments, or to even hang out with friends. You may find yourself questioning your choices about any and everything, including school. Finding who you are as a young adult, independent of your family can be daunting. On the other side of the college journey is preparing to graduate and step into the professional world. All of these experiences are likely to bring up stress and conflicting emotions within you. In our work together you will find a safe and affirming place to explore who you are, what you want and where you're going. You will learn ways to recognize, honor and manage your feelings in ways that are inline with your values. You will be able to talk about the hard stuff, while also finding moments of humor in this ride we call life. Are you ready to feel more in control of your feelings and more confident as you step into the next phase of life? Reach out to me and let's do this!
That feeling when ... you can't describe the feeling. Overwhelmed, or maybe anxious. Frustrated. Alone. Misunderstood. Stuck. Unable to see your way forward. I've been there, and I've spent years developing tools to share with you and help guide you on another path. Whether you need help navigating a new phase in your life, need new tools for facing sudden or unexpected changes, or are looking for fresh perspectives, I can help you find your brave and move forward with intention and joy. I have a Master's degree in Community Counseling and have been a counselor for 13 years. What will counseling with me look like? Expect me to be honest, friendly, and direct, and to be willing to laugh and cry with you. You will be in a safe environment where you can explore your feelings and your relationships without judgment. Some days you may need a good listener and some days you might want some new perspective, and I am here to provide both. However, as we get to know each other, I will challenge you to set and make progress towards your goals. Although I use a variety of theories to guide me in my work, you will most likely learn a lot of cognitive behavioral techniques working with me. We will move at your pace, but we will examine what you think, and why you think it, to help you understand your feelings. Understanding your feelings, and how they connect to your thoughts and actions, will be your first step in setting goals towards making the changes you want to see in your life.

Feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, dating challenges, or life transitions? You don’t have to navigate it alone. I love working with college students seeking clarity, peace, and confidence—whether you're adjusting to campus life, preparing for the future, or feeling emotionally stuck and alone. Originally from Houston, Texas and now based in Atlanta, I’ve been fully licensed since 2018 and practicing since 2012. My early work focused on adolescents and families affected by substance use, but I found my sweet spot working with young adults navigating anxiety, relationship stress, and identity development. Whether you're facing college anxiety, academic pressure, or relationship concerns, I offer a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can process emotions and grow at your own pace. Therapy with me is relaxed, empowering, and rooted in real-life support. Healing isn’t instant, but it starts with being open, heard, and supported. Let’s take that first step—together.
