Hi there, welcome! My name is Dr. Steffanie Grossman (she/her/hers). I am a Psychologist, Certified Eating Disorders Specialist and registered Animal-Assisted Therapist with a small dog/tootsie-roll lookalike named Rockstar. I provide therapy for a wide range of concerns, with specialties in the areas of eating disorders, self-esteem, and LGBTQ+ related concerns. Rockstar is frequently in the room, so you can pet him to self-soothe, look at him to distract or allow yourself to be more open, or to just laugh at when he wants his belly rubs. Therapy is something I am very passionate about, and I truly enjoy helping my clients empower themselves to live the lives they wish to live and increase self-compassion. I hope this page and my website can help you determine if we would be a good team in helping you reach your goals, find empowerment through your struggles, and embrace peace. I'd be happy to talk with you further during a free brief phone consultation to further help decide. I would love to hear from you.

ONLINE ONLY! In my view, psychotherapy serves different purposes at different stages of one's life. For young adults, one of the key tasks at hand is to discover their potential, talents, weaknesses, fears, wants and needs, and to manage relationships at various levels of emotional intimacy. In this process, many of us need to clarify past issues and unresolved conflicts to move forward more freely. My practice is informal, relaxed and friendly, and most of my clients come from multicultural and multiracial backgrounds, and I treasure diversity. I am comfortable working in English, Portuguese and Spanish languages.

College can feel overwhelming. Many of the students I work with are dealing with anxiety, academic pressure, burnout, relationship stress, or uncertainty about their future. I work best with students who feel stuck, overthinking everything, or constantly stressed but still trying to hold it all together. My approach is practical, supportive, and focused on real-life tools you can use right away. We’ll work together to manage anxiety, improve coping skills, and create a clear path forward. Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a school counselor helping students navigate academic stress, mental health challenges, and major life decisions. I am particularly interested in, and trained for, working with clients who are struggling with or are in recovery from eating disorders. I have extensive experience working with adults (18 and older) who have co-occurring diagnoses such as anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, and trauma. I also find fulfillment in supporting people who are navigating life transitions: tackling the college experience, embarking on a new career, becoming a parent, empty-nesting, or encountering a less-expected transition such as grief or a relationship ending. It is common for people who have had an eating disorder or who are currently struggling with one, to find that transitions challenge their recovery process with increased stress. Counseling may be especially helpful during that time. The most important component of effective therapy is providing a therapeutic relationship built on warmth, empathy, genuineness, unconditional regard and trust. Using a “Health at Every Size” (HAES®) philosophy I draw from several different therapeutic techniques to tailor my approach to your unique needs. My primary goal is to help you understand how your presenting concerns developed and what is perpetuating them. I then support you in accepting or making changes that align with your values and goals. I offer a free initial phone call during which time you and I can explore together if I'm a good fit to help you reach your goals. I'm happy to answer any questions you have about therapy and help you feel ready to begin this process. You're welcome to send me an email with any questions you may have!
Reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step, especially when you're carrying stress, uncertainty, or emotional pain. My goal working with clients is to create a supportive, collaborative space where you feel seen, understood, and valued just as you are. I work with clients who are navigating life, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, identity exploration, etc. I take a strengths-based, relational approach to therapy, meaning I focus not only on the difficulties you're facing, but also on the resilience, insight, and abilities you already bring into the room. Together, we build on those strengths to foster growth, healing, and meaningful change. My work is grounded in the belief that healing happens through connection. I prioritize developing a genuine, trusting therapeutic relationship where clients feel safe to explore their experiences at their own pace. I meet you where you are at! As someone who is half Turkish, I also value cultural identity, background, and lived experiences as essential parts of the therapeutic process. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply seeking greater self-understanding, therapy can be a place to find that and I would be honored to support you in that.
As a parent of a medically complex child and a person with my own chronic health conditions, I often see people become weary when navigating the chronic illness journey. Despite being smart, determined, strong, and compassionate, they begin to feel overwhelmed by life. They feel betrayed by their body. They are unsure of what abilities they, or their loved one, will have in the future and what that means for their sense of who they are. They face disappointment, anger, or judgement from friends and family who don’t understand the challenges they are facing. I want those fellow travelers to know: you deserve to find peace even in the midst of difficulty. You deserve to define and redefine who you are. Hope is not out of your reach. If you want to navigate uncertainty without losing yourself in the process, I’d love to help you. You don’t have to continue alone. Contact me to schedule a free 15 minute consultation to see how I can help.

The college experience is not what Hollywood would have you believe. In addition to being academically challenging, students often face other challenges such as learning how to navigate the logistics of life (such as making it to an 8:00 a.m. class!) without the oversight and structure of parents, learning how to establish new friendships, learning relationship skills, and finding balance in their lives. It can simply be overwhelming. You may just need a little help. I am an LCSW and have 30 years experience in the social work field and have spent the past 6 years providing mental health counseling with students in a university setting - my favorite population ever! I have worked with students dealing with adjustment to college, executive functioning, relationship issues and navigating helicopter parents. College students can find themselves experiencing depression, anxiety, OCD and sometimes this is the age when issues like bipolar disorder and schizophrenia arise. Sometimes past trauma begins to rear its ugly head and cause issues that need addressing. Asking for professional help can be scary; but can help you determine if you might just need some skills to help you better cope or if you have deeper issues going on. Just know that you are the one in control in counseling sessions - I can't insist you share more than you are ready to share or "make" you do anything you don't want to do! You are the boss! I would love to walk with you in your journey! This can be a very exciting time and we want you to make the most of the opportunity.
Hi, I’m Ashley (she/her)! I’m a licensed professional counselor with licenses in Mississippi and Texas. I graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi with my bachelor’s in psychology in 2017 and my master’s in counseling psychology in 2020. I’ve worked in different settings including telehealth, homes, schools, and an acute care inpatient psychiatric hospital. Together, we’ll explore your experiences, feelings, thoughts, and behaviors to expand your self-understanding. That allows us to develop healthier patterns and learn effective coping skills to help create lasting, positive change in a supportive, nonjudgmental space where your safety, growth, and autonomy are prioritized. I have experience supporting clients as they navigate depression, anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, suicidal thoughts, dysfunctional patterns, and life transitions. I provide gender-affirming, LGBTQ+ inclusive, culturally sensitive, person-centered therapy. I believe that each person that comes into this space deserves a treatment approach that is tailored to their unique needs and experiences. To help ensure that, I integrate key parts of various evidence-based treatment approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), internal family systems (IFS), strengths-based therapy, and compassion-focused therapy (CFT) to best meet your needs. I encourage and welcome transparent feedback so we can adjust our approach as needed. There is never a time that it’s too late to do something different or to start something new. Progress takes time, and it’s normal to have ups and downs while still making progress. My goal is to support you through your healing journey and help you become the version of you that you like best. “No matter how many mistakes you make or how slow you progress, you are still way ahead of everyone who hasn’t started.” Every day, we make a choice, to continue living in comfortable misery or to take even the smallest step toward being uncomfortably happier; but first, you must choose you.
