Therapists for college students near University of Pittsburgh
You’re doing a lot for everyone, and at the same time you’re trying to hold on to who you are. Maybe you’re figuring out adulthood, balancing school or work, managing relationships, or trying to feel like “yourself” while also being there for other people. Big changes — starting college, career shifts, breakups, becoming a parent, identity changes — can feel overwhelming, lonely, or like a loss. You don’t have to sort it out alone. This is a space to say what’s really going on, without having to minimize it or make it sound okay. I'm real, warm & nonjudgmental. I work with people who are stressed, burnt out, anxious, hurting or just trying to stay afloat. I have deep experience supporting college students, young adults, people exploring identity & people living with self-harm or suicidal thoughts. We’ll slow things down, make sense of what’s happening & figure out what actually works. Therapy doesn’t have to be formal or scary. It can just be you and me, talking honestly about what you’re carrying and what you want next. If you’re ready to feel more grounded and supported, reach out. I’m currently accepting new clients and offer flexible scheduling. Send a message or request a session to get started.

The stories we believe about ourselves are essential, and yet, they are stories we are often unaware of. You may have decided to seek treatment because you (or someone in your life) noticed something about you or how you live in the world that has been difficult, like feeling disappointed in yourself or others, and this may have impacted things like your schoolwork or your relationships. Whatever the difficulties are, these are themes in your story -- we would work together to make sense of them, and see what we can do about them. The possibilities may include things like psychotherapy (talk therapy) or medications, both of which are treatment options I offer in my psychiatry practice. Because I think it is essential to treat you as a whole person, I am only accepting new patients who are interested in psychotherapy (typically at least weekly), either with me in my practice, or with a therapist with whom I have a working relationship. As a physician (medical doctor) specialized in psychiatry, I draw on years of dedicated training for your treatment; qualifying as a psychiatrist entails, after completion of a bachelor's degree, eight years of full-time medical education, including six years of supervised, direct patient care in a variety of treatment settings. Hi. I know it can be scary reaching out for help, especially if it's the first time that you've done so. I will make it as easy as possible. We will go at your pace and I will not judge you. Clients often say "I wish I had started with you sooner." I specialize in life transitions, anxiety, depression, relationships, and grief and loss. I am informed in several therapeutic modalities and hold a level II certification in Attachment Based Family Therapy. Former college athlete.
I have specialized in working with college and university undergraduate and graduate students since my graduate training and I have worked in six different college and university counseling centers. I have innate knowledge about the experiences that are relevant to college and undergraduate students and it is my mission to provide support in helping navigate the journey during this integral time of development. I have experience supporting students through general academic stress and concerns as well as compounding stressors relevant to diversity, culture and identity. Finally, I understand the intersection that other factors have during the college and university experience (i.e., family, friend and romantic relationship building and conflict, social injustice, financial stress, career uncertainty, etc.)
Welcome! I am a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice at PhilaPsy, where I offer psychotherapy for adults of all ages and specialize in working with individuals in early to middle adulthood. I have a varied practice, with people coming to therapy for a wide range of reasons. My areas of particular focus include working with young adults and adults navigating anxiety, depression, transitions or changes in life, stress, self-esteem, identity, relationship issues, interpersonal conflict, trauma, and feeling lonely, angry, empty or stuck. Across contexts, I provide identity affirming, culturally responsive, relational care. Therapy invites people to explore, process, and make sense of their ideas, emotions, experiences, challenges, and areas of conflict. I approach this work with collaboration and curiosity, bringing focus to how our relationships, social systems, personal histories, and development inform the ways we experience ourselves, others, and the worlds we inhabit. I believe a central part of feeling helped is finding a therapist who brings hope, humor, safety, and a sense of belonging. With the right fit, therapy can provide building blocks for people to heal, find community, uncover a path for themselves, and discover ways of living in this world that feel meaningful. If you are interested in reaching out, I offer a free phone consultation to get a sense of what you are looking for, address questions, and discuss possible next steps. Together, we can determine if we might be a good fit. To learn more about my work, please visit: philapsy.com

Mental health symptoms like depression, anxiety, anger, stress, etc., are just that- symptoms! These symptoms come from somewhere in your life, it is your bodies way of telling you "something's not right" or "there needs to be a change here." It is my passion to help one figure out what these symptoms are trying to tell them. After we understand the message we will work to build knowledge, mindsets, skills, and other insights to continue growth and prevent those symptoms from returning or reduce the impact they have on ones life.

Navigating the complexities of being human can be as rewarding as it is complicated. Our journeys are filled with moments that require us to muster resilience, practice self-compassion, and foster hope—even when the path seems unclear. It's not uncommon to find ourselves ensnared in cycles of negative thinking that foster shame, grappling with emotional regulation that impacts our relationships, or struggling to stay anchored in the present, affecting our decision-making abilities. At K & K Holistic Counseling, we are dedicated to guiding you through these challenges, helping you cultivate a life of significance and joy. Our mission is to offer a therapeutic environment that is both welcoming and collaborative, focusing on the individual as a whole rather than a constellation of symptoms. With our expertise in DBT, Person-Centered Therapy, and trauma-informed approaches, we partner with you to set and achieve goals that resonate with your deepest values. If you are prepared to embark on a journey toward breaking free from counterproductive cycles and embracing a more fulfilled existence, we invite you to connect with us.
