Therapists for college students near Temple University
College life can feel like a lot sometimes. It’s “supposed” to be fun, but there’s often so much to navigate that it ends up feeling overwhelming. I often work with students dealing with anxiety, relationship stress, and social or family worries — whether that means overthinking, feeling unsure in friendships or dating, or trying to make sense of complicated dynamics. Many students come in wanting to understand their reactions and emotions, and to feel more in control of their anxiety so it doesn’t interfere with their college experience. In our sessions, I’m committed to creating a warm, supportive space where you can feel safe exploring your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. With patience and careful listening, I offer insights and guidance in a gentle, thoughtful, and non-judgmental way. Together, we’ll slow things down so you can make sense of what’s happening beneath the stress — the patterns, experiences, and dynamics that shape how you think, feel, and relate to others. My goal is to help you feel understood, supported, and more grounded, so you can move through college with greater confidence and a stronger connection to yourself.

I have worked collaboratively and effectively with those individuals addressing their difficulties such as anxiety, depression, interpersonal issues, self-esteem, life transitions and trauma. While working together in a safe space, we will strive to reduce/eliminate negative thoughts and feelings. To achieve this outcome, I utilize a client-centered approach along with a CBT framework. Strengths are emphasized in therapy as an important asset to treatment success. Although individuals going through challenging times tend to seek out therapy, caregivers are often overlooked as those who could benefit from support themselves. I have been trained in the nurtured heart approach and have provided caregivers with techniques to assist with the individual’s treatment progress. I have worked in a multitude of settings including a hospital-based residential treatment facility for adolescents, a county care management organization, and in a community outpatient therapy setting. Along with a master’s degree in counseling, I have a post master’s certificate in clinical mental health. I am a licensed therapist in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. I have also earned my credential as a clinical supervisor (ACS) to provide peer/collegial support.

Masters of Science in Community and Trauma Counseling. Eating Disorders, Trauma, Anxiety, and Depression. Offering in-person therapy in Society Hill, and Telehealth therapy. “Hopefulness lies in knowing that while early experiences shape the nervous system, ongoing experiences can reshape it” - Deb Dana I approach healing through a lens of restorative embodiment. My intention is to create a safe space as an empathetic witness and an honored collaborative partner in your therapeutic journey. In the therapeutic room I will bring in authenticity, laughter, presence, hope, and intentional moments of silence. I believe in an i-thou relationship and that you are the best guide for me to support you. With that, I also believe that while each of us are the experts in our own lives, we often do not know how to access or trust in our inner-knowing to make the necessary steps towards adaptive change and cultivating a fully embodied life that is worth living. My passion is to support you in finding and trusting your inner knowing, embrace your worthiness and strength, experience safety in using your body as a resource, and reinforce your internal sense of self-agency. In the therapeutic room, I prioritize trauma-informed and LGBTQIA-affirming care as well as harm reduction. I have experience in social work providing housing-first and strength-based care. In addition, I have experience providing individual, group, and family therapy in different settings such as a psychiatric inpatient hospital for adolescents, an eating disorder residential treatment center, and a Comprehensive DBT-focused outpatient practice. I primarily support clients ages 14 and up, college-aged individuals, and young adults. I am passionate about working with those navigating this world with an eating disorder, depression, anxiety, substance recovery, and differing levels of trauma and PTSD/CPTSD. Grounded in the principles of Health at Every Size®, I endorse Intuitive Eating, body neutrality, radical acceptance, and body liberation. I often draw upon these principles as well as embodiment in the treatment of eating disorders. I also practice with aspects from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Trauma Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (TF-ACT), using a mindfulness and somatic approach. I fully believe that every human has done and is doing the best they can with the tools they have or were given, whether effective or ineffective, with the information the body has interpreted and stored. The body and brain is malleable, flexible, and able to change. Let’s re-align with our inner-knowing, physical sensations, and core-values; change our interpretations and the narrative, to cultivate a new path forward that supports you as you level up with new and more effective tools. There is hope and I am so honored to join you on this next part of your journey. I facilitate a body image group called Embodiment. I accept Aetna & Cigna insurances.

Welcome! I am a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice in the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood of Philadelphia. I provide therapy to adults of all ages struggling with a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, coping with medical illness, trauma, unsatisfying relationships, low self-esteem, general stress, and other difficulties. College students can be particularly susceptible to these kinds of distress. When you're trying to manage intense coursework and maintain a satisfying social life while also considering what kind of a life you might want to live and the kind of person you want to be, it is not unusual to struggle with feelings of stress, fear, anxiety, and depression. Searching for a therapist can also seem intimidating, particularly during a stressful phase of life; however, it is my goal to ease the process and be of help. Your mental health is important and deserves attention, especially if you are not feeling well. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or feel I might be of help. It would be my pleasure to work with you.

I utilize a variety of modalities, including but not limited to medication management, to treat anyone who is willing to do the hard work necessary to affect change.
I provide a therapeutic space that supports rapport-building and builds upon clients’ strengths. One of my approaches is to empower my clients to implement skills and techniques provided in sessions that help symptoms of anxiety, depression and relationship conflicts.
You’ve had enough of the shame, secrecy, and broken promises tied to pornography addiction. You’re capable and successful—yet inside you feel stuck. Trying harder hasn’t worked. Rules, willpower, and white-knuckling fail over time. For some, a relationship they care about is at risk. For others, it’s the quiet fear of where this is heading if nothing changes. For those dealing with porn or sexual addiction, generic counseling isn’t enough. This depth of work requires a specialized, focused approach that addresses what’s actually driving the behavior—not just trying to stop it. I’m Pete, founder of Proven Path Counseling—an award-winning psychotherapist with 15 years of experience serving PA & NJ, specializing in porn and sex addiction. I’m recognized as a trusted authority in men’s issues and sexual addiction, training and supervising other clinicians and appearing in media on sexual addiction, trauma, and men’s mental health. Clients value my active, direct, and encouraging approach—real accountability, practical tools, and work that targets the drivers beneath the patterns so change actually lasts. That's why men and other therapists trust my work. If you’re here, you’ve already taken an important first step. Reach out for a free consultation to see if we're a good fit.

Life burning down around you? Cool, grab a seat. Cry, laugh, drop a few F-bombs. You’re safe here. Welcome to therapy! I’m a therapist, a professor, and a real human who’s lived through real things. I don’t do this work from a distance. I’ve moved through anxiety and depression. I’ve grieved the loss of people I love. I’ve gone through divorce. I’m raising a child with special needs… and all of that shapes how I show up for you. In my therapy space, we slow down. We breathe. We talk honestly. We laugh sometimes. We grieve sometimes. And we make room for the parts of you that you’ve had to hide to survive. Therapy should reflect your inner world and the world you live in, so I bring a progressive, social justice-rooted perspective to my work. I see you as a whole person through a bio-psycho-social-cultural-spiritual lens. I am fat-positive, sex-positive, kink-friendly, and identity-affirming. I am client-centered and strengths-based. Going to therapy can be scary. You’re pouring your life out to someone you don’t know. You’re sharing things you’ve never said out loud. That takes vulnerability. Folks trust me to hold some of the most complicated parts of their lives. It’s an honor, and I want to be a good vessel for that, someone who holds your story with care and compassion, and without judgment. I believe everyone should have access to affordable health and mental health care, so don't let the price deter you. Contact me to discuss our sliding scale. I also offer a no-pressure, first session to make sure it is a good fit!
