"The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction not a destination."- Carl Rogers. Sometimes in life, our path becomes tangled and foggy. It can be hard to find the next steps in moving forward in life. I can help you find the next steps to move forward in the journey that is called life. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who has worked with children, adolescents, and adults to help find their true potential and thrive in life. I specialize in mood and anxiety disorders through the use of evidence based practices of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy. During our time in therapy, we will work through difficult thoughts and feelings that cause discomfort. Growth is difficult, but it is worth it. Thank you for inviting me along your journey in life. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing from you!

Psychotherapists in our office offer individual psychotherapy services. Our staff accept major insurances. Some of our staff do not work with insurance and offer out-of-pocket fees on a competitive sliding scale. In addition to being trained and practicing mental health clinicians, our small staff share a background in and passion for the humanities. We believe this influences the way we listen, stay calm and connected in the face of pain, feel familiar and grounding in strange situations, and make room for other things when stuck in a thought or a feeling. First call. Leave a message with your name, phone number, and a few times during the week when you know you can speak privately for up to half an hour with one of our intake coordinators, free of charge. The office for psychotherapy and the humanities is supervised by Dr. Mest, licensed psychologist and teacher.

Understanding painful feelings can be difficult and making meaningful connections as to how, and why these developed can help alleviate symptoms & lead to change. I am qualified to help you understand and resolve a wide array of issues that can be problematic in your life, while just as importantly, helping you to recognize your own strengths and potential for growth. Change is scary, and navigating change can be easier with the help of an effective support system! The most important part of being in therapy is having a trusting relationship. Whether it is life decisions, mood changes, life changes, I am here to help each step of the way. Perhaps you're seeking support in making that big job decision, managing overwhelming emotions, or just navigating life in general. I am open to working with all individuals, but do enjoy the work that happens with high school and college students! I have spent five years working in a community mental health setting, where issues varied greatly, with vast experience with depression, anxiety, health issues, ADHD, relationship issues, and self esteem. I work from a person centered perspective, but always open to expanding. I've assisted clients in getting connected to appropriate resources when needed. I work from a very client centered approach, as this is your treatment and I want you to get the most of it! If you feel as though you need support and guidance, I am open to free fifteen minute consultations to see if we would be a good fit to work together!

I love working with people of all ages who are seeking to understand themselves and other significant people in their lives! It is my joy to help my clients find peace and make meaning of both the usual challenges in life and the events that threaten to rob us of hope. My work life before becoming a therapist in 1997 included working in child welfare, teaching in China, and volunteering in religious activities. As a therapist my training and experience have been focused on themes of attachment, relationships, grief, loss, trauma, and spirituality. If you are wondering who I am as a person, I am a spouse, mother of four grown children, "Mimi" to five grandchildren, and oldest sibling in a large tribe. When not working I love to read, make quilts, play board games, cook and just spend time with the people I love.

Hi! I'm from Pittsburgh and proud to be practicing in my home town. Therapy ranges from directive to less structured approaches. Directive approaches involve identifying a specific problem and starting interventions including skill building for the client. Less directive therapy involves self exploration and understanding our symptoms in an interpersonal context. These two approaches can be combined, tailored to the client. The client's responsibility is committing to therapy, and showing up weekly at the designated time, and engaging in the process. While the therapist is an expert in psychology, the client is an expect in themselves and is ultimately the source of change and improvement. I see myself as a guide, helping the client see things they may have missed or avoided, and making connections that wouldn't otherwise be obvious. The process is collaborative and frequently rewarding.

I am a licensed clinical social worker with nearly a decade of experience as a therapist. I specialize in treatment of complex trauma and PTSD, with Level I and Level II EMDR training. Several years ago I also completed an advanced EMDR training in somatic reprocessing, and I use awareness of the mind/body connection in much of my therapeutic treatment. Additionally, I have a great deal of experience and training in DBT and CBT, as well as trauma-focused play interventions for children. I also use these interventions to work with anxiety, mood disorders, and OCD, and have experience treating PANS and PANDAS. I have a particular passion for working with the LGBTA+ population, and offer a focus on the traumatic nature of oppression in my work. I can help transgender clients navigate medical and social transition, as well as write surgery letters. Two years ago I completed certification through the International Transgender Certification Association. I provide a warm and inviting environment where no one is judged, and everyone is free to heal and explore themselves in their own time.

I am an LPC with professional experience including over five years as a therapist and five years working in residential treatment settings, serving populations ranging from adolescents to the elderly. I operate from a cognitive-behavioral perspective, but also utilize positive psychology, systemic, and solution-focused theories. I have worked with a range of clients, including offenders, individuals struggling with substance abuse issues, families, couples, groups, and individual clients. Finally, I have a strong desire to provide counseling services to veterans and their families, given my family history of military service. My style is collaborative, intentional, and forward-focused. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other theoretical strategies to assist clients in establishing more effective patterns of thought and behavior. I also enjoy helping clients explore larger concepts as needed. I enjoy working with clients to establish healthier life patterns and experience positive life changes.
