Hi, I'm Rachel! I'm a licensed professional counselor with nearly 10 years of experience working with adults and adolescents struggling with anxiety, OCD, depression, and ADHD. I provide in-person therapy in Lancaster and virtual therapy across Pennsylvania. I also have expertise in helping clients manage stress, insomnia, and burnout. I enjoy helping clients identify healthy, sustainable boundaries for their life, work, and relationships. I seek to work with clients holistically and collaboratively, creating practical goals for lasting change. I use a variety of evidence-based therapies to address anxiety, depression, OCD, and insomnia, including CBT, CBT-I and ERP. I also specialize in working with clients on understanding and setting healthy work-life and relationship boundaries, managing stress, improving executive functioning, and processing life transitions. It is my goal to help you experience freedom, hope and lasting change. Therapy works not only because of scientific evidence, it also works because it's a relationship. And while relationships can break, they can also heal. I would love to hear your story, your hopes, your truth. Let's walk together on this healing journey.
I have served as Director of 2 college counseling centers, and have worked in 5 others. I am only doing virtual appointments. I know the stress of being a student can be overwhelming, especially if you are also dealing with a mental health condition like depression or anxiety; a neurological difference like ADHD or autism; or a medical condition like an autoimmune disorder or chronic pain. I use humor, compassion, irreverence, and creativity to help you feel better and more empowered.
My work and experience have allowed me to aid individuals in many age brackets. I am able to be adaptable to meet the needs of the individuals in front of me. While I specialize in treating Anxiety, Depression, Mood Disorders and traumas, I have the capacity to assist with a range of issues and problems people may present with. I am working on national certification in EMDR and work to use this approach to help others suffering from traumatic experiences to move forward. I want to be able to understand my clients to build trust and connection. Much of the beginning sessions are spent building this through clear expectations.

In working together, you will receive a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental environment to unpack your fears, concerns, and worries. I have worked in various settings with various populations; no need to be embarrassed, ashamed, or worried of anything you might share. I'm here with you through it all and will provide you with understanding, reassurance, and encouragement. My work with a wide range of clients, and my personal struggle with chronic health issues, gives me a special understanding for others who may be experiencing loss, trauma, depression, anxiety, fear, adjustment issues, and relationship challenges. I use a person-centered approach to counseling, with techniques drawn from CBT, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and existential theory. In listening to your story and gaining an understanding of your goals and values, I can help you problem-solve and create unique ways to help you navigate life’s challenges. If the idea of starting therapy is bringing up feelings of fear, anxiousness, or uncertainty, I challenge you to try thinking about it as an exciting opportunity to put the pieces of your life together, make sense of what isn’t working, and allow space for the best version of you to manifest. I am here for you.
Creating change can be an uncomfortable process, and it can help to have someone accompany you on your journey to a more authentic life. I work best with adults who are ready to engage in the sometimes challenging but deeply rewarding process of personal growth and healing. Many of my clients are navigating anxiety, depression, chronic health conditions, or co-occurring disorders, and are seeking meaningful change in their lives. I also have a strong understanding of the unique pressures faced by healthcare professionals and experience providing care for those involved with the Pennsylvania Nurse Peer Assistance Program (PNAP). I specialize in treating dual diagnosis and and I have specific experience working with substance use/chemical addictions and chronic health conditions. CBT and ACT are my primary modalities, however they are not the only interventions I use. Whatever interventions are used, the ideal outcome is to create sustainable, healthy change for individuals. I especially value working with individuals who are open to exploring their experiences, who may feel stuck but are willing to reflect, grow, and lean into their strengths. If you're looking for a grounded, compassionate, and collaborative space to sort through life’s complexities, we may be a good fit.
Mental health challenges can impact your overall wellness and get in the way of attending class, completing assignments, or taking care of yourself. If you are feeling emotionally unwell and struggling to cope with life’s difficulties, attending therapy can offer you support and guidance during these challenging times. Our experienced therapists offer individual counseling services that allows privacy and confidentiality to talk about you, what’s troubling you, and how to make a sustainable change. We value helping to create a culture that normalizes discussion of, and support for, mental health being an integral part of overall wellness. To assist with decreasing barriers to care, sessions are offered as in person appointments or virtually via telehealth. Our therapists incorporate enthusiasm, humor, and creativity to help provide the support you need to reach and exceed your mental health goals. We believe therapy is not only a safe place to share your thoughts and feelings but also a thriving environment to learn effective strategies to grow into your best self.

Life is full of unexpected ups and downs that we may not always be able to manage alone. In my practice, I specialize in collaborating with clients to navigate difficult life changes with greater peace, clarity, and confidence. I take a highly individualized, holistic, and client-centered approach. During sessions, you can expect to explore underlying beliefs, past experiences, unhelpful patterns, and personal strengths that can all make change possible. I am a licensed clinical social worker in private practice where I see adults and adolescents. I am here to support and encourage you to reach life goals that will enhance your overall feelings of peace, joy and belonging. I provide a safe and nurturing environment that enhances the therapeutic process and encourages my clients to identify their strengths and embrace positive change. My therapy model is based on Aaron T. Beck's development of cognitive behavioral therapy. This approach identifies the distortions in our way of thinking that drives our emotions and behaviors. By identifying distortions and redefining them we can than choose an emotion and behavior and feeling that fits our new way of thinking. My goal is to provide a therapy model that incorporates mind, body and soul wellness. I am presently accepting new patients and I am credentialed through most of the major insurance plans. Please reach out by email when possible.

I spent 24 years studying and working in universities as a student (undergrad and grad), program coordinator (staff), assistant professor (faculty), and state specialist (extension). I worked hard to earn my degrees and make my mark in academia, but I was often looking for guidance and support from my peers about my career. Sometimes finding a listening ear who truly understood me, my strengths, and my goals was challenging. This sparked ideas for a career change, and back to school I went for 5 years part-time while working as a professor, being a spouse, raising two young kids, and still fitting-in some outside pursuits. I became a counselor, and I founded AutumnSpring Counseling, to help students, faculty, staff, and others connected to universities navigate through and cope with the challenges of academic study and work. I am dual certified in mental health (NCC) and career counseling (CCC), and I strive to help clients develop strategies for their present and their future career situations. Through counseling, assessment and evaluation tools, and career strategizing, I help clients process the challenges, decisions, and transitions related to their career and their personal wellness. My website offers a lot of good details about me and the clientele I help the best, so please visit www.autumnspring.co. Once you read there, if I interest you, please email or call me and let's set up a time for a free 25-minute consultation call.
YOU are the expert on yourself. I have had training and life experiences, but I believe that you hold within yourself the power to make the changes that you want to see happen in your life, but nobody has ever shown you that power before. I believe in helping you discover and awaken that power through whatever means you feel comfortable, and sometimes UNcomfortable! I believe in the uniqueness of every individual and work to find that in every person I meet through my work, my travels and everyday trips to the grocery store or walks in the neighborhood with my dog! I have had my own struggles with depression and anxiety in the past, and was a bit of an antisocial teen...I have seen it all, so you can feel safe talking with me about ANYTHING and I won't make you feel judged:)
