Hi there, I'm Jennie. I'm an Asian-American psychotherapist committed to partnering with you on this journey. My work focuses on promoting deeper wellness and considers the entire human experience: from what appears in the here and now to a deep dive into your life. To that end, I take on a relational approach, incorporating mindfulness based practices, radical compassion and acceptance, attachment theory, and internal family systems frameworks. I have over thirteen years of experience working with women across the life span at various community based agencies and hospitals in New York City and Philadelphia. As a therapist, I enjoy collaborative curiosity and work out of a humanistic, anti-oppressive lens.

My name is Katie, and I have experience working with young adults, adults, and couples. I enjoy supporting clients navigating anxiety, anger management, and impulse control, as well as life transitions, relationship stressors, and LGBTQ+ related challenges. My approach is grounded in evidence-based practices and shaped by a relational lens- meaning I prioritize genuine connection, collaboration, and an understanding of how relationships impact mental health. In our work together, therapy will be a space to feel heard and understood, explore patterns, and build insight while also learning practical tools that support meaningful change. No matter where you are right now, you deserve support that feels affirming and tailored to you. I know taking this step can feel intimidating, but there is relief, growth, and a stronger sense of self on the other side. If you feel I could be a good fit for your goals, please reach out! I’m a queer therapist who shows up with warmth, authenticity, and deep respect for your lived experience. I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ young adults who are navigating identity, relationships, anxiety, depression, and the impacts of trauma. If you feel like you’ve been stuck in place for months (or years), it’s easy to start believing your brain is just "broken." If you’re exhausted from traditional talk therapy that feels like running in circles, or if you're tired of having to explain your queer identity to a therapist before you can even get to the real work—you are in the right place.

I work best with students who may seem like they have it together but feel anxious, overwhelmed, or exhausted underneath. You might overthink everything, put pressure on yourself, try to keep everyone happy, or feel responsible for holding it all together. Many of my clients are navigating trauma, complicated family relationships, grief, identity, or major life changes. I especially enjoy working with LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent students, creatives, caregivers, and people who are used to being the strong one. You do not need to know exactly what is wrong or where to begin. We can figure that out together.

We are who we are for a lot of reasons, maybe we will never know most of them. But even if we can't choose where we come from, we can still choose where we go from there. -Stephen Chbosky, The Perks of Being a Wallflower This quote has always resonated with me as a clinician; there are many aspects of our lives, our stories, our families, and our circumstances that we may not have chosen and may not be able to change. However, there ARE many ways of processing these very important aspects of who we are. Therapy is a wonderful and fulfilling way to do just that. I'm glad you're here. I currently maintain an all-virtual private practice and provide therapy to both individuals and couples. I am comfortable with a variety of presenting concerns and have a specialty focus of relational/couples therapy. I have completed Level II training in the Gottman Method for couples therapy, an evidenced-based approach to couples therapy. I'd love to chat with you to learn about what's bringing you to seek therapy and to see if we'd be a good fit. Together, we will create a non-judgemental therapeutic environment with warmth, safety, support, and a sprinkle of humor. My practice is culturally- and trauma-informed and LGBTQ+ affirming and I have been seeing clients for over 7 years.

I specialize in the treatment of anxiety and stress reduction, but also help people with: anger, depression, phobias, OCD, addiction, PTSD, relationship difficulties, spiritual/existential crises, panic attacks, ADHD, chronic medical conditions (gastric, migraines, tinnitus, POTS, etc.), and many other problems. Very often, symptoms and issues overlap and are correlated. When you work with me, we will collaborate to focus on the challenging areas of your life, manage stresses from your environment and body, and develop strategies to overcome unhelpful patterns of thought and behavior. Through this work it will be possible to experience relief, become happier, and evolve as a person. While I prefer to see clients in my office, I also provide online therapy on a HIPAA compliant video platform. When we first meet, we'll discuss your history and your concerns. We'll articulate goals for your treatment and establish a clear direction aimed at the outcomes you are hoping for. It will also be an opportunity for you to ask questions and feel comfortable in the work we will soon embark upon.

Opening up is no small thing, but it's also the fundamental thing that gives folks relief. To this end, I try to make therapy a natural process and most of my clients say that I feel like "talking to a real person." I developed my style by working with university students on a number of campuses who taught me to drop the artificial formalities, ask deeper questions, be upfront with my care, and say what I mean. In general, I start from the standpoint that anyone seeking therapy has come by their pain honestly and that much of what folx find distressing in themselves is a reasonable response to what has happened to them. Thus, I am unlikely to give rote advice and more likely to partner with you in unpacking your past, exploring your feelings, reaching creative solutions, and lifting what's blocking you from moving toward your version of the good life. In terms of specialties, I help students work through the kinds of relationship troubles (family, romantic, friendships etc) that leave people feeling lonely, anxious, inadequate, seeking approval, depressed, misunderstood, self-critical, or slow to let others in. Queer folx, Student Veterans, adult children of alcoholics, overachievers, burnt out students, undergrad, law, medical, and grad students, young professionals, and folks in creative fields have found me helpful. Importantly, for therapy to be a liberating space, people need the freedom to talk about how their lives are shaped by their sociocultural identities as well as corresponding experiences of prejudice, marginalization, and erasure. Conversations about politics, class, race, religion, gender, sexuality and all the "isms" are fair game and also integral to figuring out how to live with more ease in these difficult times.
