Developmental trauma (experiences as we grow, including our family of origin) shapes how we see the world, sometimes unsafe and challenging to navigate. Our attachments are the foundations in which we trust or find conflict. Developmental trauma may manifest in the body as anxiety, stress, distress, relationship difficulties, depression and more. There is healing to be found here, to be understood and nourished. Well done on the first step in a journey toward wellness. The most important aspect of therapy is finding a person who makes you feel safe and heard. I look forward to collaborating. I have training and experience in working with trauma, family of origin/generational cycles, attachment disruptions, complicated grief and loss, sexuality, sex work and with LGBTQAI+ persons. I love working through emotions, trauma and somatic experiencing. I am Level I Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy trained. I enjoy working with and understanding folx from their perspective; I work with singles, couples, non-monogamous consensual relationships and families. I provide a safe, unassuming space in which you can find felt safety. I appreciate the eclectic person you are and would like to help you identify your own cracks, so that you can let your own light in. Working with college ages and young adults is one of my favorite parts of practicing. Over the years I’ve helped students through applying to different colleges and universities, choosing the best school, choosing a major, to preparing for graduation. College can be stressful and I encourage clients to create a balance with academics and recreational activities to protect against burnout and feeling overwhelmed. Living independently for the first time is a big transition and sometimes it’s helpful to have extra support as you navigate this new phase of life.
College can be a time of big transitions, self-discovery, and sometimes, feeling overwhelmed. I work with students navigating life changes, anxiety, motivational issues, perfectionism, the inner critic, self-esteem challenges, and coming into their identity. I also support folks exploring their experiences with neurodiversity and LGBTQ+ identities. At the heart of my practice is a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel truly seen and heard. Together, we’ll explore your inner world and uncover the pathways to healing that feel right for you. If you’re ready to take the next step in your journey, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
Are you being challenged by life trials? Do you feel stuck and can't figure out a way out of your situation? Dealing with depression and anxiety? Are you dealing with behavioral issues and mental health of your kiddo? Or dealing with your childhood trauma which triggers you day to day? Having mood swings and anger outbursts? My approach is client-centered, strength based and collaborative problem solving. I teach easy to learn coping skills and activities to boost up self-awareness and self-care in my clients. I believe that the brain can adapt to changes and self-regulate after damage, if you have the right tools and information to deal with it.
What haven't you said? And what might change if you said it? Some things only become known and shift under the right conditions. I'm Andrew, a psychoanalytic psychotherapist in Ashland, OR, remote across OR, MD, and NY. I've been a therapist for 15 years. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, relationship snags, troublesome patterns, career and purpose questions, and the more diffuse sense that something is off. I work with students and graduate students sorting out what it means to become themselves while meeting everyone else's expectations, and with medical students and residents under the particular pressures of clinical training. I've also spent years with addiction, trauma, and more acute struggles. My training is psychoanalytic, but in practice I'm more interested in you than in applying any of it to you. I'm not here to fit you into a framework or hand you formulas for how to be. Together we explore what matters, what repeats, what gets avoided, what happens between us. You come to know what's best. That stays with you anywhere. The first conversation is a brief phone call, fifteen or twenty minutes, to talk about what brought you in and whether we're a fit. Not sure if therapy is for you? That's a fine place to start. Reach out.

Hello, I'm Laura Clarke Mayabb and I'm a therapist dedicated to supporting college students and young adults as they navigate the complexities of university life and beyond. I firmly believe that every student's experience is unique, and I am committed to creating a safe and inclusive space for students of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences. You don't need a specific 'problem' to start therapy. Maybe you're looking for better ways to manage stress, improve relationships, or just figure out "what's next." That's all welcome here. My goal is to work collaboratively with you, giving you practical tools and insights so you can approach your academic, social, and personal life with greater clarity and resilience.
My clinical approach is multi-disciplinary and rooted in psychodynamic theory, attachment theory, and humanistic psychology. I also have a background in integrative health and wellness, which can contribute to a more in-depth perspective on treatment. In addition, my work is relational and informed by the belief and the research that the essence of therapy is the relationship between the client and the therapist. It is this relationship that can encourage true and thorough transformation. My style is genuine, collaborative, interpersonal, direct, and non-judgemental, and I encourage clients to be true to themselves and transparent. Although treatment is based on an individual's needs and goals, primary objectives in treatment are to help clients (re)connect to their confidence and curiosity and to reinforce their capacity and resiliency.
My counseling practice integrates holistic mind and body-oriented therapeutic approaches, depth psychology, and client-centered care. I offer you support to move past your blocks, calm your fears, and experience your truest self. My experiential approaches are guided by your values and aims.

My approach has been described as warm, validating and filled with curiosity. Throughout our work together, my goal is to foster a non-judgmental space to help you work towards relief and self-understanding. Some clients work with me to explore childhood experiences while others want to focus on more recent challenges. I support people with a wide variety of concerns and am particularly passionate about supporting individuals who are navigating relationship challenges (familial, romantic, platonic), exploring their sexual or gender identities, and traversing stressors related to parenting, school, work, or other obstacles. I am also trained to provide treatment for OCD and ADHD. I strive to work from an antiracist, LGBTQA+ affirming, and Health At Every Size-informed perspective. It is important to me that when we meet, you feel like you are connecting with another human being who deeply cares about your emotional world and sincerely wants to understand the challenges you may be facing. Therapy is a space for you to slow down, pause, and reconnect with the strength that already resides within you. I combine my professional knowledge and experience with a genuine desire to create a warm, authentic environment that fosters trust and allows you to explore what matters most. I feel privileged to support you in your healing process, and I am committed to breaking down the traditional hierarchy that can sometimes exist between therapist and client. I have always been fascinated by the human experience—how we interact with others, ourselves, and the world around us. My own personal growth journey and how I have overcome adversity in my life, is a core part of who I am and have become, and it helps me show up for you in a meaningful, empathetic way. I am grateful to witness the growth and resilience of my clients, and I’m particularly passionate about helping those who may be held back by fear or shame. My goal is to support you in confidently stepping into your full potential, believing in yourself, and living authentically. I am also passionate about social justice, including anti-racism, intersectional feminism, LGBTQI rights, body and sex positivity, mindfulness, nature, and radical autonomy. I hold a Master’s in Education in Couples and Family Therapy from the University of Oregon and have been a licensed therapist since 2009. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Oregon, I look at the “systems” that influence our lives, whether cultural, familial, or relational, and how they shape the difficulties we experience. In my practice, I work with individuals, couples, and families, helping each person navigate their unique challenges and move towards the life they want to create. I specialize in a wide range of difficulties someone may be facing including pregnancy and postpartum challenges, relationship issues, women survivors, sexuality and personal identity and more. I also specialize in anxiety, stress, self-esteem/self-worth, life changes and transitions and trauma. I am a trauma-informed and trauma-sensitive therapist.
At different times in our lives, we experience hardships that may overwhelm us. These can sometimes be brought on by relationships, careers, family, or health. Or perhaps it is more of a persistent feeling you've grown accustomed to but wish there was a way of changing. The meaning we've made from life's past events serves as a template for how we will process each new experience in the future. My goal is to help facilitate an insight-oriented process of understanding why we feel the way we do and provide a source of strength and a healthy curiosity to lead to a better tomorrow.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 25 years of experience in behavioral health and substance use treatment. Clients can expect to gain greater self-awareness, resilience, and tools they can use in daily life, often leading to stronger relationships, improved well-being, and a renewed sense of hope.
