Therapists for college students near 97201
My heart's work is connecting with people, holding space for their hurt, and empowering them to reach towards a connected, integrated life. My ideal client is someone who is curious about WHY troubling symptoms exist in the first place; someone who is ready to either step into therapy for the first time (hurrah!) or to step away from traditional talk therapy and begin deeper, more profound healing from the bottom up instead of the top down; someone who is wanting to feel more connected to themselves and others, and to feel more joy. I specialize in treating trauma, dissociative disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, and life disturbances of all kinds. I have obtained extensive advanced training in EMDR, dissociative disorders, preverbal trauma, and somatic experiencing. I use EMDR psychotherapy as the framework for my practice and have witnessed amazing results. Jung said "Know all the theories, master all the techniques, but as you touch a human soul be just another human soul." I will create and hold space for you to just be, and you will find me a warm, experienced, intuitive presence. We will work together to move you towards a more connected, joyful, playful life. I can't wait to meet you!
As a therapist, I’m inspired by being a part of the growth and healing process. Personally and professionally, I value bringing more kindness, vulnerability, self-compassion and creativity to the world. I enjoy working with a large range of clients and I specialize in helping clients heal from depression and anxiety, improve their interpersonal skills and overcome unwanted habits. I focus on creating a therapeutic atmosphere where people can truly feel safe, grounded, and open to exploration. Working with me means we will explore evidence based approaches and techniques, in a flexible way with attention to your needs.
I am a licensed psychologist who specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders and relationship issues. Even more specifically, my specialty rests in helping women navigate the anxiety and overwhelm that arises when they think about saying no, setting boundaries, or expressing their true opinions. Many of my clients are exhausted from agreeing to things they don’t want to do, staying in relationships out of obligation or fear, or managing a busy social life that leaves them feeling unfulfilled and ultimately disconnected. As an attachment-based therapist, I work with women to uncover the roots of these patterns in their relationships, helping them get grounded in their values and build the courage to show up authentically. My approach helps to create context for conditioned behaviors and beliefs so that clients find their voice, face the fear of speaking their truth, and experience the freedom of being unapologetically themselves and more aligned with their values. I take a holistic approach to treatment, combining somatic work, nervous system regulation, and relational therapy. My work also incorporates nutrition and movement to support overall wellness, empowering clients to align their physical, emotional, and relational health. I completed my applied graduate training at Portland State University's Student Health and Counseling Center as a psychologist intern and was employed there as a part-time psychologist before opening my private practice. My residency was completed at Reed College Health and Counseling Center and I have also had the wonderful opportunity to complete early field work training at University of Portland's Health and Counseling Center. I love working with college students and it is a joy to be able to provide students with the opportunity for longer-term psychotherapy.

College is a time of change—new experiences, growing independence, and sometimes, overwhelming stress. If you’re feeling anxious, stuck, or struggling with a major life transition, you don’t have to navigate it alone. I’m Rachel Boll, LPC, and I specialize in helping college students like you find clarity, confidence, and relief from stress, anxiety, and past trauma. How I Can Help Many students come to me feeling burned out, lost, or weighed down by experiences they haven’t fully processed. Maybe you’re: ✔ Struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, or self-doubt ✔ Feeling stuck in old patterns that no longer serve you ✔ Navigating a major transition—graduation, changing relationships, or redefining your identity ✔ Carrying the weight of past trauma and ready to heal I use a holistic, mind-body approach, incorporating EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), mindfulness, and somatic therapy to help you work through stress, anxiety, and trauma in a way that feels right for you. My approach is compassionate, non-judgmental and focused on creating a supportive, trusting connection with you. What I do in therapy is help you work with your emotions, instead of pushing them away, so you can be more grounded, confident and connected. I support people with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and ADHD. I tailor my approach to your unique needs by drawing on a variety of therapeutic techniques. My past clients have described me as compassionate, grounding, and calming. It is my hope that you find a therapist who feels like a good fit too. If you feel ready for change, please reach out. I’d love to talk more about what you're looking for in therapy.
We'd be a good fit if you're navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, and you're looking for a space that feels both supportive and real. I help clients connect with their inner strength, shift limiting thought patterns, and build the self-awareness and compassion that lead to real, lasting change, emotionally, relationally, and in day-to-day life. I also offer culturally and linguistically tailored care for the Latinx community, drawing on shared cultural norms, lived experiences, and traditions. My approach looks at the full picture: your nervous system, your relationships, your patterns, and your environment, not just your symptoms. Therapy works best when it's rooted in a real, trusting relationship, not a checklist. Clients often come to me for support with: - Setting boundaries and breaking free of people-pleasing patterns - Managing adult ADHD and the executive-function stuff that comes with it - Navigating a life transition and just trying to feel like themselves again - Understanding relational patterns, why certain dynamics keep showing up, and building the assertive communication skills to actually say what you need without guilt or over-explaining If you're new to therapy, or coming back after a break, it's completely normal to feel unsure about that first step. It's often the start of some real insight and a stronger relationship with yourself. I bring genuine empathy, intuition, and, when it fits, a little humor, because this work should feel human, not clinical.

Are there old patterns stuck on repeat in your relationship that you’ve tried to change but can’t seem to? Is relationship stress or anxiety in general getting in the way of your feeling satisfied or in flow with your life? Maybe you feel invisible or unappreciated. The truth is every now and then we need support from someone who has the knowledge, training, and personal experience to help you with something like this. I help clients heal and learn from old relationship wounds and improve their relationship with themselves and others. In this way we can get to know what is creating barriers to joy, calm, and flow in your relationships and in your life. Please note that addition to qualifications listed within this profile, I am a certified Narcissistic Abuse Treatment Clinician. Whether working through anxiety, contemplating/preparing for a breakup or moving on from a relationship, healing from the fallout of antagonistic relational stress and/or narcissistic abuse, strengthening your boundaries, or you're just wanting to give that critical inner voice the boot so that you simply feel better about you, I'm here to help. * I am contracted with Care Oregon and am able to work with Trillium Community Health of OHP via single case agreement.
Are you feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or mentally exhausted—even though you’re keeping up with work and responsibilities? Do you find yourself overthinking, tense, or disconnected from what used to matter? In therapy, we'll focus on helping you reduce the grip of anxiety, respond differently to stress, and develop practical skills for handling difficult thoughts and emotions without feeling overwhelmed by them.
I help college students cope with mental health challenges that get in the way of school and relationships. Having too much self-control, or overcontrol, makes it hard to enjoy life and connect meaningfully with others. It’s exhausting to feel like you’re always ‘on’, performing, or wearing a mask. Overcontrol can lead to problems like anxiety, depression, disordered eating, obsessive-compulsive behaviors, and intimacy avoidance. You don’t have to struggle alone–I’ve been a therapist working with LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and other overcontrolled folks for over 10 years. Together, we can get you unstuck. Using practical (and fun!) research-validated strategies, you’ll learn to harness your self-control as a strength and break free from patterns that burn you out. Finding a therapist who gets you can be stressful. Let’s make this process easier for you: email me, call me, or visit waveways.org, and we’ll schedule a free consultation to discuss your hopes and needs.
