Therapists for college students near New York, NY
I help people feel better and improve their lives with music psychotherapy. If you are suffering from anxiety, depression, addiction or everyday stress with relationships, work or family. If you want a fluid and creative approach to therapy that helps you go deep to the core of your issues, I can help. I am particularly passionate about working with those who identify as LGBTQIA+, especially trans and GNC folx. In a world full of stigma, with so much pressure to conform to a heteronormative society, being trans or GNC can be an isolating and scary experience. I can help you on your journey to become your true self.
Starting therapy can feel hard and overwhelming. As a licensed social worker, I create a warm, engaging, and comforting environment where we will work together to reduce your stress and help you cope with life's challenges. Within our work together, I will draw on my experience with cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, relational therapy, and trauma informed care to tailor the treatment to your needs. I specialize in working with individuals experiencing a range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, transitions, and relationship issues. I am especially passionate about treating college students and young adults who are often facing many difficult transitions. While transitions can be very stressful, I have found that they can also be an opportunity for change and the beginnings of a new identity. I am an inclusive therapist who works to create a space that is accepting and nonjudgmental. My belief is that we all have the strength to overcome and grow through life’s challenges. I am passionate about de-stigmatizing mental health and building strong relationships with clients in order to meet their goals and develop lifelong skills. I view therapy as a partnership and look forward to working alongside you.
My guide in counseling is to create a safe and welcoming environment that promotes autonomy, open and honest communication and support to be who you are, where you are while working on where you want to be. For many, the notion of therapy implies that “something is wrong” when it is quite the opposite. The clarity it takes to acknowledge, accept and receive therapy or ‘mind maintenance’ as I like to call it, means you are self-aware, and there is nothing wrong with that. I specialize in a bad day with academic stress, social anxiety and depression but I can also work with a good day!

I work with my clients on exploring underlying patterns, unresolved conflicts, and deep-seated emotional concerns that have been causing distress in their relationships with themselves and others. With authenticity and compassion, I work collaboratively with my clients through relationship and attachment issues, depression, anxiety, self-doubt, shame, loneliness, and childhood trauma, toward greater clarity and fulfillment. I foster a thoughtful space for navigating life transitions, complex family dynamics, questions of identity and purpose, as well as overall feelings of being stuck or lost. I understand that trust takes time and care to develop. Together, we’ll cultivate a relationship in which you can come to feel safe and free to express what’s troubling you. I’ll help you make better sense of what you’ve been struggling with and why, and support you in tuning into and working toward what well-being might look and feel like for you. Talking together with honesty and curiosity can deepen your understanding of yourself and your experiences and build resilience, which both support authentic, lasting growth. As this process unfolds, it can help you make changes that foster a more integrated sense of self, greater connection in relationships, and a stronger sense of meaning in life. My name is Savi and I’m a licensed clinical social worker in private practice. I have a particular interest in working with students as much of my clinical experience is in working with people in their teens and early 20’s who are going through the big life changes that happen at these times. There is so much to navigate during this time in life with academic demands, becoming more independent from our families, and starting new relationships. There are many reasons we are drawn to start therapy, but I find it is often because we are struggling with difficult feelings related to these things that we may not understand and don’t know how to get rid of. I think it’s important that you have a safe place to talk about these feelings and for us to begin to understand what is underneath them.
I’m a licensed psychologist specializing in therapy for individuals navigating anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, sleep disruption, self-harm urges, and identity or relationship stress. If you’d like to explore working together, I invite you to reach out to schedule a free consultation call and see whether my approach feels like the right fit.

Kip Therapy is therapy for every identity. Together, we’ll define and work on the things that make it difficult to find your place in the world—like being queer, processing trauma, navigating your most important relationships, entering into adulthood and careers, or struggling with self-esteem. Many members of the Kip team have lived experiences as LGBTQ+ people, and it remains one of the primary reasons clients work with us. Through a LGBTQ+ affirming lens, our therapists focus on what makes you unique and how your experiences--your history, your identity, your culture--shape who you are and what you may be struggling with. Kip is a trailblazer in the mental health industry, serving clients in New York State. Since 2013, we’ve been rethinking and redesigning therapy for the 21st century. TriBeCa Therapy is a center for psychotherapy that was founded on the assumption that human beings are original, imaginative, inspired, and inventive. We particularly love our work with young adults and college students and are connected to issues they deal with. Issues related to sex and dating, drugs and drinking, depression and anxiety and academic pressures aren’t topics that will freak us out. We can handle it. College students frequently discuss with us challenges such as: making friends in ways that don’t involve alcohol, making friends as a person of color, navigating social situations that demand connecting with strangers (like in the cafeteria) and finding “their people.” We work to create a partnership that takes these challenges on together, trying new strategies, taking increasingly bigger risks and dealing with the disappointments and celebrating the successes that follow. College is a time when many young adults are dealing with very adults issues like sex, sexual assault, eating disorders, substance abuse, managing money, race, class, and career choices. Creating a space where young adults feel comfortable talking about these issues is a strength of our therapists and a non-judgmental stance is key. The object isn’t to insist on a particular set of values or practices, but to support young people to understand what they are dealing with and to make active choices about who they want to be.
