Therapists for college students near New York University
Sometimes in life we find ourselves feeling lost or alone on our journey. We each need to know that someone will be there to help us find our way. My goal is to help you figure out what you want from life and to provide a safe space that will enable you to work towards your goals, whatever they may be. I became a mental health counselor because I believe everyone has the capacity to grow and become more fully the person they were meant to be. My passion is walking that journey with others, being a listening and supportive presence as you strive to do that. I look forward to sharing that journey of discovery with you during our time together. My hours are normally Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 5 pm, but I am open to working with you to find a time that works best for you.
Hi, I’m Donna Deming, LCSW, a clinical social worker in New York offering online therapy state wide . I work with college students and young adults who may be struggling with anxiety, stress, relationship issues, self-esteem, body image concerns, academic pressure, life transitions, loneliness, or feeling overwhelmed. College can be exciting, but it can also feel stressful, isolating, and emotionally exhausting at times. Many students struggle with overthinking, comparison to others, pressure to succeed, family stress, social anxiety, or uncertainty about who they are and where they’re headed in life. My approach is warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental. I want therapy to feel like a safe place where you can talk honestly about what you’re going through while also learning practical ways to cope, manage emotions, and build confidence. Together, we can work on developing healthier coping skills, improving relationships, managing anxiety and stress, strengthening self-worth, and helping you feel more emotionally grounded and supported. Reaching out for help can feel difficult, but you do not have to figure everything out alone.

Reaching out for therapy can be a daunting task. Seeking out options is the first step. My role as a therapist is to engage my clients in establishing a healthy relationship with themselves to better serve them in their relationships with others. I strive to help people recognize their strengths, as well as work through their weaknesses and develop positive coping skills to live their best lives. I specialize in the treatment of eating disorders, body image, anxiety, depression and transitions in life. I take an eclectic approach to best meet the needs of my clients. I aim to ensure a comfortable environment and relationship.
My passion has always been working with adolescents and young adults who are dealing with life's challenges in the form of mood struggles, relationship challenges, life transitions, and substance abuse. If you haven't really been feeling like "you" lately and have struggled with any of these things, we can work together to begin to process these emotions and build the skills to manage them in a more comfortable way. I believe that you have capabilities and strengths within you that we can draw out and build on in order to help you move forward.
You’re used to handling things. You’ve figured out how to succeed, meet deadlines, and show up for others — but lately it feels harder. Maybe anxiety is louder, your mood dips more often, or relationships feel strained. You don’t have to keep pushing through alone. Therapy can help you build steadiness, clarity, and more intentional choices in the middle of a demanding season. At Mind Field Therapy, I work with college students navigating anxiety, depression, identity shifts, relationship stress, and the impact of difficult life events or past trauma. I’ll absolutely ask how you’re feeling — and we’ll go deeper than that. I’m direct, grounded, and occasionally use humor when it helps us loosen anxiety’s grip. The goal isn’t endless venting; it’s understanding what’s driving the patterns and building tools you can actually use.
Are you not feeling like yourself? Are you overwhelmed by things that shouldn't be all that overwhelming? It's often hardest to reach out for help when you're feeling this way. Many people don't seek help because of fear of stigma or they see no way out. My practice is geared towards helping students with all mental health concerns. My approach is comprehensive and integrated offering medications or therapy. If you're looking for a safe, non-judgmental space to address your needs, feel free to contact me.
Feeling the pressures of everyday life, struggling with ‘imposter syndrome,’ flooded with thoughts that you’re not meeting your own expectations (or someone else’s)? These are just a few of the areas I commonly support clients with. I regularly work with young adults and professionals coping with recent life changes and/or stressors that are impacting their ability to: concentrate, engage with others or maintain meaningful relationships or manage their emotional state. When a client is ready, I assist them in exploring/identifying their strengths, and the skills they can apply to stressors while introducing healthier coping skills to trial. Through this process the goal is for the individual to gain a greater understanding of their stressors and triggers and learn effective skills they can use outside of sessions.

Our goal is to help you find compassion for yourself, develop skills to help you navigate life stressors, identify how you can become the best version of yourself, and be confident in the resilient person you are. Modalities utilized in therapy include Cognitive Processing therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Compassionate Inquiry, Act therapy, and Positive Psychology. I believe that each person entering therapy is seeking to find the answers for their lives that will enhance their ability to have the best life possible. Remember, life is a journey, not a destination. I look forward to working with you!
