Making the decision to go to counseling can often feel overwhelming. Whether you’re just beginning your counseling journey, or looking to make a change, I recognize the importance of working with a counselor who feels like the right fit for you. I seek to cultivate a mutual sense of trust, respect, and comfort in the therapeutic space to create the necessary foundation for any therapeutic work to begin. I take a trauma-informed approach guided by feminist perspectives that is tailored to each client. I integrate techniques from a range of perspectives, as I firmly believe every client is different and requires an approach that fits their individual needs. I strive to empower you to explore your experiences in a non-judgemental and supportive environment. I enjoy working with individuals 18+ on anxiety, trauma, women’s issues, and life transitions, though I have experience treating a range of presentations. Healing is not a linear process and what may sometimes seem like a step back is often a step forward. I look forward to working with you and sharing in all that your unique journey brings!
My clients are often navigating intense emotional experiences—grief, anxiety, depression, or the impact of major life transitions like divorce, career shifts, or the end of important relationships. Many carry unresolved pain from trauma, abandonment, or difficult family dynamics and are seeking more than just surface-level coping—they want clarity, healing, and meaningful change.
We all experience some distress or discomfort that can prevent us from feeling content and enjoying all that life has to offer. We're often stuck in patterned behaviors, thoughts, feelings, and relationships that only increases our distress and prevents us from being able to move forward. I work collaboratively with people to better understand the patterns of behaviors, thoughts, or feelings that contribute to our distress and develop concrete skills to feel content and enjoy life. I provide person-centered and strength-based therapy tailored to the needs of the individual. I specialize in CBT, ACT, interpersonal therapy, trauma informed methods, and motivational interviewing. I work well with people experiencing anxiety or depression, struggling with transitions in life, or have experienced trauma. I create a nurturing and supportive environment for you to express yourself to be able to create a balanced and fulfilling life. I believe that everyone has the capacity to change. Hi All! My name is Cari and not so long ago I was a college student..... or at least it feels that way. Looking back I can say I learned a lot in the classroom but more importantly I learned about myself. Mental Health is a issues that has always been swept under the rug. The most significant onset for mental health issues are 18 and onward. This places many college student in a place where they may feel isolated, alone and have no idea what is" wrong" with them. My practice not only focuses on mental health issues but also on substance use, the "hook up" culture, adjustment to college life and many more pertinent struggles young people face today . I did not just gain my experience as a therapist listening to a client on a couch. Much of my work was community based , in very high need neighborhoods in the NYC area. From working in homeless shelters, foster care, and substance use programs, the experience gained was invaluable . I offer more then just a set of listening empathetic ears but an approach to help you rationalize your thoughts and experiences .
Are you the go-to person at school, at home, and with friends? You might even feel resentful sometimes - you do so much for others, but you're not getting that same care back from them. And that only makes you feel "selfish" and more guilty! Helping people break free from overworking & resentment is my passion. Many of my clients are people who have partners, friends, or family members living with alcoholism/substance use disorders, mental health concerns, and chronic health issues. You don't have to handle this alone, and you can feel more empowered, connected, and at peace in your life. I offer both psychotherapy and career coaching for my clients. We have room to explore how your past experiences have shaped you, examine the systemic barriers you are facing, build on your strengths and skills, and focus on specific action steps you can take to make changes in your life now. My style is warm, interactive, and practical, focused on helping you gain self-compassion & confidence. If you'd like to talk more, please email me to schedule a free phone consultation. I'd love to hear from you!
I work with students who need more or different support than they are able to access on-campus. You may be looking for long-term therapy or for a therapist who specializes in working with people like you. I am trained in several types of therapy (ACT, DBT, relational, multicultural-feminist) and apply them flexibly based on what you need. Students who work with me are often looking for longer-term therapy, where we address deeper issues in a safe relationship, at your own pace. Others are seeking individual therapy that makes room for activism and the big problems of our time. We may be a good fit for therapy together if you are coping with a difficult family, relationship trouble, recurrent mental health problems (e.g. BPD, PTSD, MDD, GAD), or a life transition (e.g. grief, divorce, pregnancy, moving, spiritual/religious crisis). I also have particular experience working with medical students. Finally, I am a climate-aware and social justice-focused therapist; this means your experience with collective problems like white supremacy and the climate crisis is a welcome, respected, and important part of therapy. I don't take insurance, but I offer sliding scale fees based on financial need. Please reach out to me for a 15-minute phone call to see what might be possible in our work together!

Embarking on a therapeutic journey is a deeply personal and transformative experience. It takes courage to seek support, and I deeply respect the vulnerability that comes with that step. As a first-generation college grad, I get the pressure and anxiety that come with starting college. The excitement of this big step can often mix with imposter syndrome as you navigate classes, friendships, and “adulting.” You don’t have to do it alone! I’m here to help you build confidence, develop healthy coping skills, and manage life’s stressors.
My goal as a therapist is to create a supportive environment for folks to explore their gender and sexuality. Perhaps you identify as queer, bi, lesbian, gay, pan, ace, trans, nonbinary, agender, poly, kinky, something else, all of the above, or nothing at all. You deserve to have a space where you can learn more about your identity without judgment or pressure. As a queer person who has sought out therapy myself, I know how challenging it can be to find an affirming therapist. Even if your identity isn’t central to your therapy goals, I will always aim to honor and validate every part of who you are in our work. My therapeutic style is collaborative and anti-oppressive. My approach is integrative, using tools from a variety of therapeutic modalities—relational, CBT, narrative, sex therapy—that are best suited to each unique client. In addition to specializing in identity, I support clients experiencing depression, anxiety, OCD, trauma, and relationship issues. My aim is to co-create a space with you that facilitates growth, emotional awareness, and authentic self-expression. Please reach out if you have any questions about my work or about therapy more generally. I'm glad that you're seeking out the care you need right now, and I hope that we have the opportunity to connect more soon.

Counseling starts with building connections with therapists who recognize the significance of language and culture. As a therapist, I rely on my knowledge of the Latina/o community to communicate with clients about mental health stigma, develop trust, and discuss resources available. I can provide therapy in English and Spanish for those who wish to conduct sessions fully in Spanish. In my therapy work, I take a nonjudgmental approach and allow you to be you. I specialize in helping clients navigate grief and loss, anxiety, depression, perinatal mental health, trauma, and major life transitions. I’ve worked with children, teens, adults, and older adults, and I adapt my approach to meet you where you are. Whether you’re holding deep sadness, feeling stuck in stress, or looking for new ways to cope, I’ll help you identify what’s working, build new tools, and move forward with more self-trust.

Counseling is a brave space for clients to explore their experience, rewrite their narratives, and build stronger relationships. I also believe in a holistic approach to therapy to ensure all aspects of a person’s life are considered. Through my own mental health journey, I have learned the significance of collaborating with mind, body, and spirit. As a Black woman, I understand the need to provide mental health services to Black and minority communities, and to help eliminate negative stigmas about mental health for people of color. I am a sex-positive individual, who encourages identities outside of heteronormativity. I aim to help clients embark on their own wellness journeys and to cultivate a quality of life that reflects their personal values, cultures, and beliefs. I will use elements of DBT, Somatic, AEDP, Narrative Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing modalities to individualize treatment for each client’s specific needs and goals. I strive for a therapeutic relationship that can be the foundation for continual healing and growth, where learning takes the forefront and challenging discussions are encouraged. I am passionate and open to hearing my client's individual stories with fresh eyes, allowing them to connect and share their authentic selves in a non-judgmental environment.
Specializing in fostering empathetic connections, I provide support for clients of all backgrounds. My therapeutic style is characterized by a gentle and welcoming approach, creating a safe and accepting space where clients can explore, heal, and grow. I believe in the power of collaboration and tailor my methods to suit the unique needs of each client. I am trauma-informed and support clients confronting a range of challenges especially if requiring a more AAPI/culturally sensitive approach. I also work with clients navigating religious trauma and challenges, and am able to provide faith-based and/or spiritually sensitive counseling based on client needs. I believe in the client and in the expertise of their experiences. My training and background prioritizes identifying your strengths and prioritizing you as the center of your story and healing. Together, we can work towards growth and change—where you’re supported, understood, and empowered to navigate life’s challenges.
