Therapists for college students near New York University
I like to think of therapy as a journey of inner exploration and I am along as a guide. I believe that therapy is most effective when it is a combination of intellectual understanding and emotional experience. In that regard, it feels like your feelings are our road signs that we are in the right track to self-growth. I try to not have a specific agenda going into sessions, but rather to go where it is you feel like you need to go at that time. I believe that it is my role to create a safe space for you to express and explore whatever it is that is inside you. Compassion is key, and cultivating self-compassion is one of the most important elements of therapy. I look forward to helping you explore and become more self-aware and self-compassionate!

I am a clinical psychologist with 8 years of experience. I primarily work from an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) framework. Together, we’ll clarify what is most important to you, identify your life goals, and strategize ways to reduce your suffering while moving you closer to those goals. I also integrate CBT, DBT, and mindfulness. My approach is transparent, intersectional, and above all: human. All of your identities are welcome here, so let’s talk about how your mental health intersects with race, gender, sexuality, spirituality, and all the other parts that make you, you. I specialize in working with clients (16+) who identify across the spectrums of gender and sexual orientation, and families who want to learn how to be more supportive of their loved ones. My (virtual) therapy room is a safe/brave space for anyone whose identity tends to be excluded from society. I offer individual, couples, and family therapy via telehealth. I also provide supervision, consultation, and workshops around topics of diversity and mental health. To learn more and see if we might be a good fit, reach out for a free consultation. Please note: I am not in network with any medicaid ("community plan") or medicare plans. I am in network only with the commercial insurances noted in this profile. Referrals with United Healthcare Community Plan (Medicaid) will be referred back to the counseling center for an alternate referral.

My hope is to help you learn more tools and strategies to address the issues that you may be struggling with in a more effective way, so that you can feel better sooner. We offer trauma-focused strengths-based therapy to individuals, caregivers, and families. When working with children, families will be engaged in play therapy sessions to encourage bonding, communication, and growth. With adolescents and adults, using CBT techniques, we will focus on replacing negative thinking with positive self-talk and adapting positive coping mechanisms. Through Somatic Experiencing techniques, we can tap into physical and emotional symptoms associated with trauma -- locked into the body -- and guide you into identifying and utilizing the innate healing capacity in your body.
My practice is built on compassion, warmth and a deep respect for each person’s unique story. My goal is to help my patients find relief, whether it is falling asleep with ease, completing tasks confidently, being present and interacting with loved ones, or even coping with a difficult social settings. I received my doctorate degree as a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Columba University in 2020. While board certified to treat a diverse scale of symptoms, I have over 4 years of experience with children, as well as adults with substance use disorders. My main focus is medication management. However, I believe it is important to meet someone where they are at and provide psycho-education about various options for treatment, rather than dictating one path. Choosing a medication is a collaborative and fluid discussion where there may be more than one right answer. I believe in taking the time not only to complete comprehensive assessment of symptoms, but also explore the root of the symptoms. I strive to create the most thoughtful plan for each individual, with the patient as an active participant in their own treatment.
My core values are faith, family, social and economic justice. My worldview is quite simple. You see, I believe that everyone has a right to be in a good place mentally physically and spiritually. I find that I have evolved into a change agent - which is a natural profession for a social worker. The same steps that I have taken to secure my life, mentally physically and emotionally, are the very same steps I am willing to assist my patients/clients in taking. My specialties lie in my abilities to move a person or a family from a place of dysfunction to functionality. I strive to improve the quality of life those whom I counsel. My theoretical framework a solution focused, interwoven with resiliency theory, using a strength-based approach. I am just a chat away if you need me – 'how may I help you?"
