I am a clinical psychologist licensed in New York. I live and work in Ithaca, where I see clients both virtually, via video conference, and in person at my home office. I work with individuals from young adult to senior. My primary approaches are dynamic and Person Centered. I am also very comfortable with more solutions focused therapies like CBT and am trained in specialty approaches including CBT-i (CBT for insomnia), Motivational Interviewing, and Prolonged Exposure. I work with individuals seeking personal growth, exploring their relationships past and present, managing life transitions, and addressing anxiety, depresssion, and insomnia. College years are stressful, and the traditional “college years” are years of intense personal change and development. It is a crucial time to have support, to examine the self, to grow into your own preferences and potential. I use Headway for billing and scheduling - please visit my website to arrange a consultation to have a conversation to help us both decide if my practice is a good fit for your needs. The prices posted for initial and follow up sessions are for cash pay - if I am in network with your insurance, it is accepted as payment in full, although you may also have a co-pay depending on your coverage. When you go to my website you will notice that I offer initial 10 minute phone consultation at no charge. These are not treatment, but are designed to give us both a chance to see if my practice is a good fit for you and your therapy needs. I look forward to speaking with you

I am so glad you're here. You just took the hardest step, so take a second for a self-hug. I believe therapy is one of the most rewarding things you can offer yourself, so congratulations. We are all on our own journey, have our own individual needs, and a history that makes us who we are. In turn, I work with every person, meet them where they are at, support & guide them, through a treatment plan we build together, to help them with their day to day challenges, and long term goals. Therapy is a beautiful tool that, if used correctly, can be life changing. I enjoy nothing more than guiding people in finding their way & themselves. I pull much of my practice from life experiences. I am an honest, authentic New Yorker who is empathetic, yet direct. For decades I have worked with young adults (high school into college) navigating the intricacies of relationships, self love, identity searching and beyond. Life can be hard. We can be even harder on ourselves. It is easy to get overwhelmed, lost, confused - but we do not need to be on this journey alone. I'm a therapist, or a friend - whatever you need in the moment. Some people are anxious about entering therapy, but my approach is: what a gift to have someone in your corner who is simply there to support you.

I recognize asking for help is no simple task and respect your curiosity in exploring this step. I view therapy as an invitation to delve deeper into your current concerns, personal history, conditioning and defenses in order to reconnect with your true self and experience growth and wellness in your life. Therapy is a unique experience for every person, with the potential to be transformational. I'm licensed in New York and California and specialize in treating anxiety, childhood trauma, medical trauma, depression, substance use, grief, chronic illness, life transitions and relational concerns. I am a certified Kripalu yoga instructor with specialized training in therapeutic yoga and weave mindfulness and somatic-based techniques into clinical work. I view therapy as a collaboration. I believe you bring your own unique set of strengths to the table and together we’ll explore which modalities best suit you and your current goals and concerns. I will meet you where you’re at in your process with compassion and respect, and offer a safe space to explore concerns openly and honestly.

In my practice, I work with a diverse range of clients, each bringing unique stories, strengths, and challenges. Trauma can surface in many forms such as anxiety, self-doubt, or difficulty feeling safe in relationships or within oneself. My work focuses on creating a space rooted in safety, empowerment, and emotional insight, where you can begin to reconnect with yourself. My holistic, trauma-informed, and individualized approach draws from modalities including DBT, IFS, and CBT. Together, we will reframe unhelpful thought patterns, strengthen emotion regulation, and cultivate healthier coping skills. Through a strength-based and solution-focused lens, I help clients nurture the parts of themselves that need healing, foster self-compassion, and build a more positive sense of self and overall well-being. No matter where you are on your journey, you don’t have to navigate it alone. I bring warmth, compassion, and a genuine commitment to helping you build resilience, deepen self-connection, and move toward thriving.

I have been in private practice for over thirty years in the same location. Over the years I have worked extensively with adolescents and young adults transitioning from high school to college. The services I have provided included both psychotherapy and evaluation services (i.e. ADHD, learning disabilities). I frequently provide ongoing support for clients who began with me in high school and successfully entered into college, but who want or need help addressing the unique challenges that college presents, and moving into post-college life.

Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the pressure you put on yourself or by what everyone else seems to expect from you? College can come with a long list of demands. Do well in classes. Make friends. Join clubs. Keep everyone happy. Figure out your future. When all of this adds up, it can start to feel heavy and confusing. I’m Emily, a therapist with extensive experience working with children, teens, and adults in community mental health clinics, schools, non-profits, and group practices. I help students work through anxiety, depression, self-doubt, identity exploration, social challenges, and the impact of past experiences or trauma. I use approaches like CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic therapy, along with a strengths-based and trauma-informed perspective. What this really means is that we work together to understand what you are experiencing and develop tools that fit you as an individual. My goal is to offer a space where you feel safe, accepted, and supported while you figure things out. You deserve a place where you can be honest, build confidence, and move toward self-acceptance. Whatever you are facing, you belong here. I am here to listen, help you make sense of things, and support you as you work toward the life you want.

Life can sneak up on us without warning and emotional stressors impact all individuals without discrimination. Many times people turn to ineffective coping strategies as a means of escaping emotional pain. I believe that the most successful path to healing is one that treats the whole person, not just the symptoms. I understand that addiction, depression, anxiety, and stress can affect every aspect of your life. It is my hope that, together, we can develop healthier skills to overcome whatever barriers you may be experiencing to physical, mental, and emotional wellness. I use an eclectic treatment approach consisting of evidence-based practices, tailored to your individual needs in order to achieve the quality of life you desire. I have formal training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Person-Centered Therapy (PCT). I graduated from St. John Fisher College with my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and went on to get my License in Mental Health Counseling (LMHC). I am also a Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC). I have worked in a number of outpatient settings and have specialized in treating adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders since 2010. If you feel that you are ready to make positive changes in your life, I encourage you to take that first step on your journey to healing. Let our work together help transform you into the best version of yourself. I look forward to seeing you soon!

Do you feel like you’re stuck in a loop of thoughts and actions that are hard to stop? Life can feel overwhelming when your mind won’t stop racing or when anxious thoughts and doubts take over. As a therapist with over 18 years of experience, I specialize in working with adults who feel stuck in cycles of worry, fear, or perfectionism. I provide a warm and compassionate space where we’ll work together to understand your experiences and tackle challenges. I like to think of therapy as a journey of inner exploration and I am along as a guide. I believe that therapy is most effective when it is a combination of intellectual understanding and emotional experience. In that regard, it feels like your feelings are our road signs that we are in the right track to self-growth. I try to not have a specific agenda going into sessions, but rather to go where it is you feel like you need to go at that time. I believe that it is my role to create a safe space for you to express and explore whatever it is that is inside you. Compassion is key, and cultivating self-compassion is one of the most important elements of therapy. I look forward to helping you explore and become more self-aware and self-compassionate!
