Therapists for college students near 10003
I specialize in supporting college students who are navigating the many transitions that come with this stage of life. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed by academic pressure, questioning your direction, adjusting to new environments, or trying to balance relationships, you don’t have to figure it out alone. My approach is warm, collaborative, and practical. I aim to create a space where you can speak openly without feeling judged or misunderstood. Together, we’ll explore what’s going on in your life, build tools to manage stress and emotions, and help you move toward the version of yourself and your life that feels most authentic and meaningful. I’m especially passionate about working with college students because I remember how complex and overwhelming that time can be. My goal is to be the kind of therapist I wish I had when I was in college; someone who truly listens, understands the challenges of transitional life experiences, and offers steady support while you figure things out at your own pace. I'm a college professor at Fordham University in the psychology department. I specialize in working with college students experiencing anxiety (including social anxiety, OCD, worry, panic, phobias, and more). I graduated from Duke University with a psychology major and I have a PhD in clinical psychology from UCLA. I usually work from a cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) orientation, which is the top evidence-based approach for many forms of anxiety, but this can be flexible depending on client needs & preferences. Please get in touch to learn more about my practice! I believe a therapist's job is to help people get "unstuck." All behavior serves a purpose. Even the most painful or confusing patterns often began as ways to cope with overwhelming circumstances. In therapy, we'll explore these parts of yourself and work to deepen self-awareness. Over time, you will come to recognize that while your emotional responses once made perfect sense, they may no longer serve you in the same way. Therapy is not about erasing or lingering in the past, but about making meaning from it. At the heart of my work is a belief in the healing power of feeling truly seen, heard, and understood. Together, we’ll turn inward with curiosity and compassion so you can move through the world with greater clarity, coherence, and connection.

College can bring pressure, transition, and a sense of disconnection from yourself or others. Many students struggle with anxiety, eating concerns, mood shifts, or feeling stuck in patterns that are hard to change alone. I work with students to understand what’s underneath these experiences and to build a steadier, more grounded way of navigating life.

Life so far has been fairly manageable. However, you are now experiencing emotions you have never experienced before. Life has changed for better or worse, and you are finding it difficult to cope and comprehend your reaction. It is hard to pinpoint what you are feeling, and it may make it difficult to communicate to the ones you love. Perhaps a specific memory has come up for you and you are taken by surprise. Why is this happening now? You want answers. You want to gain a better understanding of what you are experiencing and how to move forward. My passion lies in helping others build confidence, find their voice, and connect to what matters most within as they navigate the many twists and unexpected turns life may present itself with. It is a great honor to be welcomed into the sharing of one's unique life experiences. I truly enjoy walking alongside the individuals I have the pleasure of working with on their journey to gaining a better understanding of themselves and what they want out of life. If this resonates with you, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
We aim to take the stigma out of Mental Health Care and advocate for a movement of self-care. Our methods are focused on support and partnership, guiding a proactive approach to managing stress with efficiency and grace.
My approach relies on a warm and trusting therapeutic relationship where we can safely engage in healing work. We will navigate the pains and challenges of today, while fostering an understanding of how the past has played a role - all while inclining toward a meaningful future. I will provide tools for immediate relief as needed to support this process. I often work with folks who are highly sensitive, feel different or misunderstood, have overwhelming emotions, struggle with relationships, have low self-esteem, are queer or questioning, or are seeking to develop identity, purpose, and meaning in life. I would love to talk to you more about how I work, hear about your goals for therapy, and answer any questions you might have. I look forward to hearing from you!
You might look like you have it together—but when it comes to relationships, things feel confusing, draining, or one-sided. Maybe you keep ending up in the same kind of situationship, ignore red flags, or feel like you lose yourself trying to make things work. I help women break out of these patterns, build real confidence, and learn how to set boundaries without guilt—so you can feel more secure, clear, and in control of your life.
*ACCEPTING CLIENTS FOR JANUARY 2025.* I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist, and together, we can explore how your past experiences have shaped who you are today. You will gain self-understanding, self-compassion, and begin to feel happier and more fulfilled. My clients are individuals and couples with a wide variety of concerns, including relationship issues, anxiety, grief, depression, and trauma. I can help you navigate unwanted emotions and get you ready to cope with any difficult life circumstances that might arise in the future. My past clients have described me as “non-judgmental, kind, and someone who calls them on their bullshit.” I also love working with people in non-traditional relationships as well as LGBT individuals and couples. I also specialize in transgender-affirmative therapy, and have worked with trans and non-binary clients who are questioning gender, people who are in the middle of a physical and/or social transition, and individuals who are either post-transition or have made other decisions in this regard. Even if your gender identity is not the topic you want to explore in therapy, I will provide an accepting environment where you can explore whatever you think will be most useful. If this sounds like what you are looking for, please email me to set up a 20-minute phone conversation so we can see if we would be a good fit.
College can bring a lot of change—new responsibilities, relationships, family pressures, uncertainty about the future, and the challenge of figuring out who you are and what you want. I work with young adults who may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or struggling with confidence and self-esteem. My approach is warm, supportive, and collaborative, with a focus on helping you better understand yourself, navigate relationships and life transitions, and feel more confident moving forward.
Welcome! I am a seasoned therapist with many years of experience working with folks who are struggling with things like finding balance in their lives, managing stress, coping with mood issues (anxiety, depression, etc.) and managing conflicts and/or finding meaningful connections in their relationships with others. Overall, many of us are just trying to find more peace, a greater understanding of ourselves and increased confidence in our ability to manage stressors and life events as they come our way. My hope is to help people identify barriers to progress and develop helpful strategies so that they can feel more content and functional in their every day lives. I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you via a free phone consultation. Feel free to contact me via phone or email to set up an appointment.
I am a clinical psychologist who has worked with a lot of college aged students. I specialize in anxiety and depression and have also worked with clients on relationship issues, self esteem, life transitions and general life stress. I work from a predominantly CBT background but incorporate other treatments as well. My style is generally direct and humorous so you can expect sessions to be very interactive.
I offer a collaborative, accepting, and reflective space where you can better understand yourself and what’s getting in the way of the life you want. I help people explore emotional and relational patterns with curiosity and self-compassion. Many of my clients come to me struggling with anxiety, depression, or challenges in their relationships. For some, these experiences have been present for a long time; for others, they feel new. I’m proud of the supportive environment I create, and I see it as the foundation of meaningful therapy. Our work is most effective when you feel safe enough to talk about what’s hard to say elsewhere and my primary goal is to help make that possible. My approach is grounded in the belief that real change comes through insight, self-awareness, and genuine human connection.

I am a licensed mental health counselor specializing in working with adolescents and young adults (ages 13 and older) across various biological, psychological, and social backgrounds. My goal is to help you understand yourself within the context of your unique life experiences as you navigate mental health struggles. These may include emotional/behavioral dysregulation, communication challenges, life transitions, academic/work stress, grief/bereavement, LGBTQAI+ issues, harm reduction in substance use, and other day-to-day life stressors. The therapeutic alliance between therapist and patient is the most important part of therapy, and I am passionate about building that foundation of trust with you. Working together, you can expect an empowering, non-judgmental environment with a little sense of humor sprinkled in. I use a warm, welcoming, and person-centered approach to meet you where you’re at in your healing journey, allowing me to tailor my style and interventions to your therapeutic goals and needs. These interventions include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectal Behavior Therapy, and more structured approaches to best help you meet your therapeutic goals. My path to becoming a therapist began one week into college, when I decided to switch my major from studio art to psychology. The motivation to make this drastic change and give psychology a try came from my own intuition and feeling like I had natural qualities of empathy and introspection. This journey of self-discovery deepened my commitment to helping patients identify what a life worth living and feeling of purpose looks like for them. My journey led me to work in a community agency as a therapist, where I found that my patients’ demographics were very different from one another and, as such, deserved their own unique approaches and integrated mix of interventions. Now, I am passionate about bringing that same energy to my practice at SOL Mental Health! Outside of sessions, I like to enjoy a wide range of hobbies, such as painting, hiking, playing the ukulele, and going to live music concerts.
