I believe in meeting you exactly where you are. Guided by a commitment to collaboration, I seek to walk beside clients as they forge and discover their own path towards healing. My goal in therapy is to be fully present with clients as we explore their emotions, experiences, truths, hopes, challenges, and strengths, with the aim of helping folks build a life they truly desire. I seek to hold intentional space for processing intersecting experiences of oppression and privilege that impact clients’ lives. Whether facing challenges at school, in family or elsewhere in community, I work with clients to weave, unweave, and reweave the ways they hold their past, create presence in their present, and construct achievable goals for the future. It is my delight and priority to support clients in reconnecting with joy, strength, internal and communal power, as well as their role in individual and joint liberation. Some approaches to therapy that we could use together include but are not limited to: Anti-Oppression & Liberation Frameworks, Creative Arts & Play-Based Therapies, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness & Somatic Based Therapies, Narrative Therapy, Parts Work (influenced by elements of Internal Family Systems and Trauma-Informed Stabilization Therapy), and Person-Centered & Strengths-Based approaches. Some areas in which I have experience supporting individuals includes but is not limited to Neurodivergence (ADHD, Autism, etc.), Complex Trauma, and Identity.

Hi! My name is Tyania (ty-an-nuh) and I am a Black, queer, cisgender licensed therapist (LCMHCA) offering individual therapy at Healing Arts Collaborative in Durham, NC. My approach is rooted in the idea that profound healing occurs in the context of relationships. Our lives are dictated by the relationships that we do or don’t have, and a large part of how we discover ourselves is through reflection and feedback - being seen and understood by another. Being your authentic self can be challenging for many reasons, which is why I strive to make our time together a place of refuge where you can be your true self (or have the space to figure out who your true self is). You can find more information about me and Healing Arts using the below link to our website. Feel free to reach out with any questions!

I love working with college students and young adults who are encountering obstacles in their search for happiness and success. My goal is to provide each client with the most effective, short-term, evidence-based psychotherapy to maximize results without maximizing your time. I have 25 years of experience working with trauma survivors and people who struggle with anxiety, ADHD, and Depression.
My primary goal as a counselor is to create an open and non-judgmental space in which clients can express their thoughts and feelings freely. None of us are without our struggles, and I find it beneficial for each of us to have a space where we can explore these struggles reflectively and creatively. I aspire to gain a holistic understanding of my clients, their life experiences, and their issues, so that we might collectively explore opportunities for growth through evidence-based practice. I find great value in person-centered, cognitive behavioral, acceptance & commitment, and existential therapies. However, perhaps the greatest determinant of success is a relationship built upon mutual trust and understanding between counselor and client. I believe that sound counseling practice is an active, and at times difficult, process for the client. However, take comfort in the fact that it is my mission as a counselor to walk with you through trial and tribulation. I would be honored to join you on your journey.

I use an integrative model primarily developed from Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, with post-modern existentialism. What that means is we focus on what you're doing and I help you decide what the meaning of things are. Meaning of life stuff, or just the meaning of an event. My background is extensive and diverse, so I believe I can offer a great deal of perspective and help you figure out whatever it is that seems to be holding you up.
The mission of OCC is to provide unparalleled mental health counseling services to individuals and families, helping them to overcome psychological and social barriers preventing them from achieving their best possible life. I have been a practicing licensed clinical social worker for over 30 years in the Triangle area. I currently have space for a few new clients. I have a very open-minded, psychodynamic approach to therapy and definitely don't have a "one size fits all" approach. Every one I see in my practice is treated as a unique individual with their own needs. I do use CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), mindfulness, solution focused brief therapy and a family systems approach as a foundation point, but customize what works best depending on what feels right for you. I have two wonderful furry "co-therapists" who are often available to sit at your feet during sessions if we meet in person. I also offer tele therapy which is confidential, convenient and easier for many students. I have years of experience working with college aged students around adjustment and relationship issues, handling the stress of academics, anxiety, ADHD and life transitions. Although I am licensed to treat children, adolescents and adults I have enjoyed working with college and graduate students more than any other age group. I work 3 days per week and am happy to speak with you for a brief (free) phone consultation to see if my practice is a good fit for you!
Therapy is worth it and so are you! While life can be amazing, there is no doubt at times we will experience hardships. However, you do not have to navigate these struggles by yourself. By emphasizing collaboration, resiliency, optimism, and empowerment, I aim to equip my clients with the tools and resources needed to assist them in revamping and creating the life they are striving to live. I work with all genders, sexual orientations, races, and cultures & welcome clients as they are. I am trained in mindfulness, yoga, and trauma-informed care. I have experience working with adults, teenagers, & children. As a therapist, I encourage clients to be authentic and challenge their negative thinking while reminding them they are capable and amazing. If we do end up working together, prepare to be heard, encouraged, laugh, and most importantly, work to build the life you envision for yourself! If you think we could be a good fit for each other I invite you to schedule your phone consultation today. Let’s work!
Feeling overwhelmed by stress or caught up in worry? Have your efforts toward various goals—be it in relationships, health, career, etc.—left you feeling discouraged or disconnected? Maybe you're starting to recognize the ways fear, self-doubt, or old survival skills are holding you back. Are you eager to experiment with new actions and perspectives? I look forward to helping you discover your strengths and move in the direction of your unique values! Together, we'll target ineffective habits and beliefs to improve your mindset, mood, relationships, or overall health. I draw from an array of evidence-based therapies, with advanced training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). The power of therapy is feeling accepted, understood, and affirming our hope that change is attainable. I aim to cultivate 'psychological flexibility' by introducing new ways of thinking and behaving that enhance overall well-being. To schedule an appointment, please send a contact request. I look forward to meeting you!
One of my passions is assisting students transitioning to college and other life transitions. My work with students with mental health disabilities in high school and helping them move beyond learning emotional regulation, executive functioning and other skills has been very rewarding. Many students deal with anxiety and stress and there is no reason to deal with this on your own.

I believe that black lives matter, love is love, science is real, women rights are human rights, I believe healthcare is a human right and not a privilege and every BODY is deserving of love/support/healing. I believe that we are made of many parts and that our overall wellness cannot exist without mental clarity. I value therapy for my own personal self, and as a result, I value and cherish the opportunity to be a part of someone else's therapy journey. I provide a trauma informed and culturally sensitive space where I utilize my trainings in EMDR, biofeedback and psychotherapy with children, teens, and adults. My areas of expertise include trauma/PTSD/Complex PTSD, anxiety, general life stress/changes, and stress management.
If you’re here, it might be because stress and worry have started to take over your daily life. Maybe your mind is constantly racing with “what ifs,” feelings of self-doubt, or uncertainty about what to do next. I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist with over 11 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families in private practice and university settings. I specialize in supporting people through anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, stress, trauma, self-esteem issues, and grief. Finding the right therapist can feel like a big step, but you don’t have to do it alone. If you’re curious about working together, I’d love to connect.
