You push yourself to meet expectations—at work, in relationships, in every aspect of life—because failure isn’t an option. But no matter how much you achieve, that nagging voice in your head keeps telling you it’s not enough. You overanalyze your mistakes, replay conversations in your head, and wonder why you can’t just relax and feel good about where you are. The pressure is relentless. You feel like you’re sprinting toward an invisible finish line that keeps moving. The weight of expectations—your own and everyone else’s—presses down on you. Maybe you’ve convinced yourself that if you can just work harder, be better, prove your worth, you’ll finally feel okay. But deep down, you’re exhausted. And you’re starting to wonder: Does it really have to be this way? It doesn’t. Therapy can help you step off the hamster wheel of perfectionism and self-doubt. Together, we’ll identify what’s fueling the pressure, challenge the patterns that keep you stuck, and help you build a life that feels authentic, balanced, and actually fulfilling—on your terms. I help young adults and teens break free from perfectionism, self-doubt, and external pressures to build confidence and live authentically.

I am a sport and performance psychologist specializing in helping high achievers overcome performance anxiety and injury. Do you play better in practice than in games? Does fear, doubt or lack of confidence hold you back from being your best? Are you feeling burned out or have lack motivation to train and compete? As a Certified Mental Performance Consultant I can help you overcome slumps and obstacles to excellence. I can also provide mental training to help you be your best when it matters most to reach your potential. I work with athletes and other high achievers in academics, music and the performing arts. *My website says I am not accepting new patients due to my in-season schedule with Charlotte FC and the 23XI Racing Team - but please call the office and check availability particularly during the summer months as my third location (Queens University) schedule opens up.
Bethany creates a deeply relational, trauma-informed therapy experience. Her approach is both compassionate and direct, combining evidence-based tools with soul-level support. You’ll do more than just talk-you’ll feel, process, and heal in ways that reach beyond the surface. She draws from EMDR to help you safely revisit and reprocess trauma, somatic tools to regulate your nervous system, and parts work (IFS-informed) to explore the complex and beautiful layers of your internal world. Bethany also uses attachment-based language to build emotional safety and connection, and DBT-informed strategies to hold space for life’s inevitable nuance and emotional intensity. Therapy with Bethany is a place where radical self-honesty meets deep self-compassion. You’ll explore the fears that have kept you playing small, challenge the boundaries and beliefs that no longer serve you, and start moving toward the life you actually want to live-not the one you’ve been conditioned to settle for. And while the work runs deep, it doesn’t have to be heavy all the time. Bethany brings a grounded, human energy to her sessions-one that makes room for laughter, realness, and even joy. She believes in healing that’s holistic and sustainable-where change starts from within and ripples outward into every part of your life. If you’re done with surface-level fixes and ready to do the kind of work that actually shifts you at your core, Bethany is your person. She’ll meet you where you are, walk alongside you through the hard stuff, and help you remember your worth, one honest step at a time.
At Myers-Galloway Counseling, we specialize in supporting women who are used to holding everything together — for their families, their friends, and everyone around them — while quietly putting themselves last. If you’re a college student, you may already know this feeling. The pressure to perform, to be everything to everyone, and to keep it moving no matter what. We see you, and we’re here to help. Our team of licensed, trauma-informed therapists has supported 500+ women through 6,500+ sessions over the past decade. We specialize in burnout, emotional neglect, over-responsibility, and the patterns that quietly wear you down over time. Our approach is practical and compassionate — using EMDR and solution-focused techniques to help you move forward, not just process. We meet clients where they are and create a space where healing feels possible, not overwhelming. Myers-Galloway Counseling is based in Charlotte, NC and currently accepting new clients.
I describe myself as a “space creator” as I have a natural inclination toward the stories, triumphs, and obstacles of others. My primary objective has always been to establish a secure and supportive environment where individuals can rely on themselves rather than solely dependent on me. My intention as a clinician is to orchestrate an experience that cultivates vulnerability and fosters genuine connection. I challenge my clients, but simultaneously provide solace and empower them to undertake the necessary inner work. Learning how to pause, reflect, and celebrate efforts along the way is critical for progress and sustained success.
You may be experiencing stress from a difficult adjustment or transition, adapting to college life, struggling with anxiety or depression, grief from the loss of a parent or loved one, going through the pain and loss of miscarriage or grief following an abortion. You may be on the autism spectrum, or the parents of a student who is. You may just need an objective and confidential professional counselor to talk to about relationship struggles. You may be feeling discouraged and alone, needing hope! You have made the courageous first step toward healing and growth by looking for a counselor. It would be an honor to walk with you on your journey toward becoming the person you want to be!
Going to a counselor can be intimidating or nerve wracking. Will they accept me? What if I don't know what exactly I want to talk about in therapy? Or do I really want to open up about some of these things? All of these feelings are really normal when beginning counseling and I've had experience working with kids, teenagers, young adults, and adults to begin the journey of processing whatever they would like to work on in therapy. I offer collaborative, supportive, and honest therapy to provide my clients with therapy that helps them identify and work towards the changes they want to see in their lives. I would say my most successful clients have been clients who have been experiencing feelings of anxiety and processing past trauma. I have training in EMDR therapy to help assist with processing past trauma and I work from a theoretical framework of attachment theory, which emphasizes how past relationships impact current relationships. I also provide couples counseling as I have training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. I am currently accepting new clients and I'd love to talk over phone or email to see if I might be a good fit for you!

Carolina Counseling currently has two therapists that use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help individuals understand how their feelings, thoughts and behaviors are all connected. They both listen without judging and offer a safe place where you can come and share whatever is needed. One therapist offers a Christian perspective if desired.
People I work with often are starting out in therapy or interested in moving towards trauma work. If you're interested in learning how to slow it down, use mindfulness, or feel more connected to your body, I utilize narrative and somatic techniques to help people reclaim their peace, energy, and rest. As an Asian-Mexican-American psychotherapist, I enjoy helping people learn more about connecting to ancestry, spirituality, community healing and peer support resources that remind us we are all connected. When I'm not doing therapy I love going to the beach, writing, camping/hiking/backpacking, and traveling.

"I feel broken and I'm pissed about it." You were independent, high achieving, organized. Then you got the medical diagnosis, and everything changed. If you have been through a stressful or traumatic medical illness, you know firsthand the challenges of building a care team that you trust and coming into a new relationship with your body. My role is to partner with you as you face these challenges. If you are caregiving for individuals as they move through physical changes, it can be difficult to find balance. I can help you find your footing as you navigate caring for self and other, face difficult medical decisions, or move through anticipatory grief in the context of potentially complex relationship dynamics. "I just want to get back to normal." "What does it even mean to 'live with' this? How can they say that?" "This is happening on top of everything else! I don't have time to slow down, I'm in pain, and I can't sleep." "I had trauma before. This just makes dealing with it harder." These thoughts and reactions are not uncommon. Individualized, trauma-informed psychotherapy can help. To learn more, please reach out for a free phone consultation. I am happy to address any questions or concerns you may have prior to initiating therapy, and I look forward to meeting you soon.
