Therapists for college students near Northeastern University
Therapy is a collaborative process, and I'm committed to walking alongside you every step of the way as you embark on this journey of self-exploration and personal growth. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment. I'm here to offer culturally responsive guidance, insight, and practical strategies to help you navigate through these difficult times.
I specialize in working with young adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and identity concerns. I have particular experience providing gender-affirming therapy and supporting clients as they explore and celebrate their gender identities. My goal is to help you build a meaningful life by identifying and embracing your authentic self. I emphasize teaching coping skills that will empower you to confront life's many challenges with dignity and integrity. Compassion and social justice are at the center of my practice. My approach is collaborative, curious, strengths-based, and playful. As we confront your experiences of suffering or injustice, you will find me both empathetic and irreverent: there is strength in humor and in sincerity. In our first sessions, you can expect a supportive, nonjudgmental space where we clarify what brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain from our work together. I firmly believe therapy should be a place where you feel seen, valued, and understood, and I encourage you to reflect on whether this feels true after our first meeting.

I create a positive and empathetic environment where you can feel validated and empowered. My approach is to support you in breaking cycles to create healthier patterns of behavior. Together, we can explore how intergenerational patterns of trauma may inform and repeat in your life and learn how to shift the narrative. I can help in learning techniques for better communication and boundary setting, as well as how to put yourself first. I specialize in trauma-informed care, including complex, childhood, and sexual trauma. I focus on PTSD, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, family conflict, and gender identity and sexuality. I utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques including IFS, psychodynamic, relational therapy, and mindfulness practice.

Liza Gold, LCSW is a NY, MA, and NJ State licensed psychotherapist who specializes in helping young adults. She has extensive clinical training and is certified in Dialectic-Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, (CBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy. Liza does not believe in a “one theory fits all” approach. Instead, she is an integrative and interactive therapist that will work with your specific needs. Liza is known for her challenging, yet supportive and humorous approach. She believes therapy should be rewarding not because it enables a continuation of how life has been, but rather because it inspires gentle challenge and change for the future.
My name is Nicole... I am an independently licensed clinical social worker in Massachusetts. I have 16 years of mental health experience and have worked with individuals across the lifespan. I enjoy working with individuals in their teen years and upward. Each individual‘s needs are different and tailored as such in sessions. Therapy approaches include CBT and a strength based approach. I aim to offer a comfortable and safe space to talk about and heal from the difficult things that may lead an individual to therapy. Sessions are structured around individual's emotional needs and helping people find their path in life. This is a virtual practice and I aim to provide flexibility in scheduling to meet my client's busy lives! Reach out to discuss available appointments! I look forward to speaking with you!
I provide a safe, open environment to talk about any and all experiences or feelings. Some clients come for help through a short time period, or want to look at longer term issues and to make changes in their lives. Sometimes, it is simply to talk with an unbiased, nonjudgmental listener. Whichever it may be, I am privileged to take the journey with you. I will understand you as as a whole person, rather than a series of symptoms and diagnoses. I will pay attention to your background, your strengths, and the way we work together in addition to the presenting problem/s. I have worked in a variety of settings in the area, from several college counseling centers, community mental health facilities, and private practice. I draw upon this diverse training and experience to work with my clients.

Anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders ARE treatable. I am passionate about helping individuals navigate life transitions when fear, panic, and OCD interfere with daily functioning and longer-term progress. Having raised three children of my own (ages 17, 21, and 23), I have developed a mature perspective on problem-solving and empowering other women toward strength and adaptability. I offer support to parents around parenthood, raising young children and teenagers, and approaching and managing “empty” nests. I also have experience working with children and adolescents struggling with acute anxiety. I hold an undergraduate degree from Cornell University and am pursuing my Master’s degree in Social Work at Boston College. I am committed to making a positive difference in the lives of those around me and have a long-standing dedication to community and volunteer work.

I consider the relationship between client and therapist one of the most important factors in therapy. As a therapist, my goal is to create a comfortable, non-judgmental space so I can assist others in exploring negative patterns in their lives and help them develop new tools to foster positive coping skills. I utilize a holistic approach to therapy, with special focus on the body and mind and how they interact. As a registered yoga teacher, my treatment approach places emphasis on turning inward and reconnecting with the body to help release stored emotions. I use a trauma-informed approach to life issues with clients and incorporate mindfulness skills, somatic movement, and breathwork into my therapy practice. I specialize in treating anxiety disorders, PTSD, and mood disorders. Additionally, I work with clients who are experiencing grief and loss, life transitions, addiction, caregiver stress, interpersonal/relationship problems, and codependency.
We do best when we feel safe, understood and supported in relationships that matter most. This is why my work is grounded in attachment theory and designed to help you navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, emotional regulation difficulties, and relationships with others or yourself. I additionally specialize in working with those navigating identify, gender, and transition.

My Approach & Values Hope and the belief that it’s possible to recover are the foundation of the work I do. You deserve and can expect a full recovery. Keep in mind that medications are not the only modality available to treat mental illness. Many don’t experience full remission of symptoms with the available psychopharmacological treatment alone. However, there is empirical data that shows the efficacy of augmenting medication with psychotherapy and lifestyle changes. Simple changes aid individuals in regaining a meaningful life, even when recovery stalls. The goal is to gain control of your life back with emphasis on managing symptoms and building resilience. Some thoughts to keep in mind include the questions listed below. - How can we move forward? - What new goals could be set? - How can we get your new life back on track? - Can we work together to develop your support system? - What skills can you learn to cope with periods of crisis?
