I am the former psychotherapist at Harvard University, dedicated to Harvard Law School. After leaving, during the early pandemic, I appreciated the effectiveness of remote therapy and the convenience for my clients in the academic field – whether students or faculty. I have a fully remote practice and welcome your contacting me for a brief conversation so that we can see if it might be a good fit to work together. I have a lot of experience helping students in the fields of not only law, but also medicine, business, education, STEM and divinity, cope with the challenges of building their careers and professional vision in the context of both personal and professional challenges. I am also the former founder and director (for 20 years) of an adoption agency. I have a keen appreciation for the interests and challenges of members of the adoption triad. In over 30 years of clinical work, one of the key lessons I’ve learned is how important it is for clients to feel heard. Whether navigating challenging personal, academic or professional dilemmas, feeling understood is the first step in clients beginning to contemplate their available choices. I draw from a wide clinical knowledge base and broad training (family systems, CBT and other modalities) to help clients achieve their goals. Along the way, my hope is that clients feel increased personal power, greater confidence and ease as well as expanded capacity to connect with others.. I am the mythical therapist who understands gender, trauma, and neurodivergence at the same time. They told you it was impossible, but they were wrong! I’m right here! Instead of teaching you buzzwords and therapyspeak, I can help you build the relational skills to communicate what you feel, want, and need in your own words. The years surrounding college --young adulthood--is a time filled with amazing exploration as well as stress, sadness, and a lot of unknowns. We really begin to learn not just about who we have been to others, but about who we can become. Working with a therapist can offer a way to explore some of these feelings and experiences with someone who has first hand understanding of being a youg adult (we all were at one time!), who wants to get to know who you are becoming and help you find a way to get there with a sense of power and voice. Life can be awesome but it can also be scary and hard sometimes and no-one has to do this alone!
I became a therapist to provide support and affirmation to folks with systemically oppressed identities (e.g., trans and queer folks, ADHDers, kinksters, chronically ill/disabled folks, POC, cis women). I am dedicated to working with individuals facing interpersonal, life, and identity-related challenges, such as navigating gender roles and emerging adulthood (college and grad students welcome!). I collaborate with clients on a variety of concerns, such as anxiety, relationships/dating, boundaries, difference in views/beliefs from family of origin, and imposter syndrome. In my work, I use approaches such as Relational-Cultural Therapy (RCT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support clients.
