We are a holistic and integrative counseling + wellness practice that strives to assist you in finding the root cause for what you have been experiencing, thus bringing you back to balance. We believe that there are so many factors that contribute to dysfunction in our health, and if one aspect is off then that's when we start to experience symptoms. These symptoms - whether a warm body temperature, a headache, or anxiety - are energetic shifts in our body that alert us. Through the process of counseling, wellness programs, specific approaches, and other offerings we provide, you will explore these dysfunctions, get to the root of them, and ultimately become a more balanced self. Wherever you are at in this moment, that's where we will begin. Together we will uncover, strengthen, and uplift the loose pieces that create who you are. Just remember: the anchor will always be there and can be used anytime throughout the process

Hello, I am an emotionally focused therapist interested in helping people improve their view of self and other, and to get more joy out of their relationships. I have a particular interest in working with couples and healing childhood trauma. Between the ages of 18-22, many people enter a pivotal period of independence and self-exploration. It is often a time when young adults begin to reflect on their childhood and family relationships with greater depth, clarity, and emotional awareness. How these relationships are processed can have lifelong impact. I can help support this reflective process so that it leads to healing, growth, and a stronger sense of self.
Healing doesn’t have to feel so heavy all the time. Life can be tough, but your therapy journey doesn't have to be. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, or just trying to understand what on earth is going on, I’m here to help with compassion, curiosity, and (yes!) even a dash of humor. My goal is to help you feel heard, empowered, and equipped with the tools to create a life you truly enjoy. Along the way, we’ll celebrate the small wins, unpack the big stuff, and maybe even laugh a little. Growth is serious work, but it doesn’t have to feel that way the entire time.
Does if feel like you worry more than other people, have racing thoughts, or keep thinking about the same issues over and over again? Or maybe your mood has been low and the things you used to enjoy no longer feel enjoyable? These are common symptoms of anxiety and depression that we can work together to address in therapy.
As a solution-focused, goal-oriented therapist, my treatment approach is to provide you with the support and practical feedback that will assist you in resolving not only your current problems, but with any long-standing patterns of behaviors that may be interfering with your daily life and relationships. With sensitivity and compassion, I will assist you in finding solutions to a wide range of life challenges and psychological issues. Incorporating conventional and cognitive-behavioral strategies, I draw on a variety of styles and techniques in determining what will be most helpful to you. I also have an extensive history working with both children and adults throughout the North Shore area in a variety of treatment settings.

Welcome to Amethyst Counseling Services I'm Rachel Lorenzo-Ramirez, a bilingual Licensed Mental Health Counselor offering virtual therapy for students and young adults across New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. College life can be exciting—and overwhelming. Whether you’re navigating academic stress, anxiety, imposter syndrome, relationship challenges, cultural or family pressures, or questions about your identity, therapy can be a space to sort through it all with support and intention. I specialize in helping students process what’s beneath the surface using evidence-based approaches like CBT and EMDR. Together, we’ll work on building emotional clarity, self-compassion, and practical coping skills so you can feel more grounded and confident—on and off campus. This is a space where you don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to be open to the process of growing through what you're going through.
Hello, some of my strengths include identifying and cultivating strengths in others, giving language to complex feelings, detangling complex issues and finding paths to wholeness. My goal in therapy is to support others to reach their personal goals and even help them identify what those may be if they are unsure. My ideal Patient is motivated to change and open to trying various techniques. I'm dual licensed in the States of Massachusetts and Illinois and provide only Teletherapy. I've been in clinical practice since 2013, yet have 20 years of experience through mentoring young adults. One of my strongest areas of expertise is healing from trauma, of all kinds. What I often find in practice are Patients unaware of neglect and abandonment that they have lived through. I support Patients in identifying pain, creating space to grieve and heal, and creating a new way to experience life alive.
College is an exciting time though it can be an overwhelming one as well. College comes with its own unique set of challenges - increased workload, the need for greater time management, increased independence, and trying to find a good work-life balance, to name a few. College life can bring on new anxiety or exacerbate pre-existing anxiety, and managing this and coping in healthy and effective ways can prove difficult at times. Anxiety and stress can also trigger new or worsen pre-existing Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs), like excoriation disorder (skin picking) and trichotillomania (hair pulling). If you are a female student struggling with anxiety and need help managing it, and/or are having a difficult time with BFRBs, I would love to work with you. Together we will work on identifying stressors/triggers as well as strategies and skills you can use to better manage your anxiety and/or your BFRB. I look forward to meeting you!
In my practice, I integrate counseling, art therapy, and mindfulness to offer a holistic approach to mental health and wellness. My goal is to create a welcoming, supportive and judgment-free space where you can feel comfortable processing emotions, managing stress, and working through challenges. Whether you're navigating academics, relationships, identity, or life transitions, we'll work together to help you recognize your strengths and move toward your personal and emotional goals.
Do you feel like your emotions get in the way of you achieving your goals, affect your relationships, and keep you feeling stuck? Do you feel frustrated, unable to break patterns, or move forward? Or has a new life transition impacted you greatly and you don’t know where to go from here? My focus is on helping you learn how to regulate your emotions -- to be more in control of them than they are of you. In our sessions, we'll identify patterns, better understand them, and work together to come up with a plan of how to achieve your goals. My background is in CBT, DBT, trauma, grief and loss, and perinatal mental health. It can be hard taking the first step when you're struggling, but you've already done it by being here! If you live in MA or NJ, are open to telehealth sessions, and think we may be a good match, you can learn more about me at my website. I look forward to hearing from you!
I view the therapeutic relationship as similar to canoeing - it requires you to provide the steering, while I supply the momentum, and motivation and commitment from both of us to get to the destination. In our work together, I believe in giving you space to explore your story, as it was, as it is, as you want it to be, in a safe, supportive, empowering way that will, in time, allow you to feel confident and secure within your mind, body, and relationships. Within my practice, I utilize eco-therapy as a means to build an objective, curious, and comfortable relationship with the physical world around us, in order to practice building that same relationship within ourselves and with the people around us. It can feel so easy to get swept up in judgemental, shame-based thoughts, creating false perceptions, emotional pain and isolation. And yet, in the same way we prepare for cold winter nights or sweltering summer heat, so too can we weather the storms of our social and emotional worlds. To orient our work towards achieving your therapeutic goals, I work with Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, existential therapy, somatic therapy, animal therapy, ecotherapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, CBT and mindfulness practices. Utilizing this interdisciplinary blend we can identify and work through the obstacles to then find ways to move forward and love yourself into creating your ideal reality. I accept individuals, couples and families of all genders, identities, religions, and backgrounds. With a client-centered approach I believe you are the greatest expert of your own life, and in order to effectively row this canoe I ask for trust, honesty, commitment, curiosity, and engagement, so I, in return, will provide compassion, patience, knowledge, and reflection.
