Therapists for college students near 02155
I am a licensed clinical psychologist who trained at George Washington University and at Harvard University. I provide individual therapy for adults as well as couples therapy. I utilize psychodynamic/psychoanalytic perspectives in order to best understand my clients. I have worked with clients struggling with various issues such as depression and anxiety, low self-esteem, college/graduate school stress and relationship/family difficulties. I provide an empathetic, supportive, and interactive environment whereby together, the client and I can explore conflicts with the ultimate goal of reducing unpleasant thoughts and/or painful feelings. I view therapy as a process of not only working in the present, but also uncovering the past, allowing for the development of insight and awareness into one's patterns of thought and behavior. I have a particular interest in working with college students, graduate students, law students and attorneys. I am a Clinical Instructor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, whereby I teach and supervise doctoral students. I am currently only working via telehealth.
I use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to process memories, thoughts and feelings. There are long, lost fears and often past traumas at play in all of us. Some surface, wreaking havoc with our lives. They can appear as grief, depression, anxiety or crisis. Others remain dormant and can surface at all the wrong times. You may appear successful, but despite your accomplishments, you are not happy or it seems like others are happier than you. Your personal relationships are not satisfying in the way you expect. Why is happiness still elusive? We can dislodge what is blocking your best life and guide you to a healthier self. We will guide you to new understandings, new behaviors and new ways of being that will lead you to a happier self. You can reduce the anxiety and depression. You can disarm the trauma and grief that has made the days so uncomfortable. I provide a safe, empathetic environment for change. Call to book an appointment or consultation.
Life is a journey filled with transitions, some anticipated, others unexpected. At ReAlign Wellness Group, we understand that navigating these changes can be challenging. Hi! Welcome to my practice. My name is Wendy Emory, LICSW. You are welcome to look at my profile on Psychology Today. Many clients come to me as they're feeling stuck and something isn't working for them, or alternatively, they're experiencing anxiety and overwhelm, perhaps related to transitions or trauma. Either way, I work to help people access what already exists within them, and help them feel better. I'm certified in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, which is a body based oriented talk therapy used to help people heal from trauma and other relational injuries.

Going to therapy implies the courage to question ourselves and face the challenges that get in the way of self-acceptance. I believe therapy can be a transformative encounter that allows a different experience of ourselves. As a Colombian immigrant and a native Spanish and English speaker, I offer a culturally sensitive approach to therapy, attentive to the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, and class. My background and current role as a clinician at Harvard University Counseling and Mental Health Services have given me the privilege of working with patients from all over the world. I am trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis and strive to create a safe, confidential space for self-expression. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, mood disorders, PTSD, and life transitions, with particular experience supporting graduate students and young professionals. If you’re considering therapy, I invite you to reach out for a free consultation so we can explore how I can best support you.
I help clients to learn, grow, and resolve their problems -- whether big or small, simple or complicated. Those problems may include: self-defeating habits, hurtful relationship patterns, overwhelming anxiety, or debilitating depression. Milton Erickson is the psychiatrist, who revolutionized approaches to both psychotherapy and hypnosis. I practice in his tradition. That means: I don't just listen. I also reframe problems you might think unsolvable, change perspectives that stymie you, awaken dormant strengths, and teach lessons and skills you're missing. I am presently providing teletherapy services only to new clients. Although I do provide insight-oriented therapy to clients, who want better to understand themselves, most of my work is short term with clients, who merely want to solve their problems as quickly as possible.
Indecision is one of many common concerns I can help people with. Through my own lived experience, I can deeply resonate with the realities my Millennial and Gen Z clients face. Dating, social media, politics, finances, and demands from school or work can be so daunting. My main priority as a therapist is to create a non-judgmental, engaging, and approachable environment where you feel empowered to navigate these challenges together. Just having one of those days where you need to vent about your mom, partner, or roommate? There’s plenty of space for that too. While I pull from many approaches in my work, I especially enjoy utilizing skills-based therapies like Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I). These can address concerns like anxiety, stress, interpersonal conflict, sleep, and more. My goal is that you leave each and every session feeling more ready to take on what life is throwing your way. If you’re looking to gain control amidst our out-of-control world, I’d love to connect with you. Please don’t hesitate in reaching out for a free 15-minute consultation.
Please email me to schedule a consultation appointment. I am a licensed mental health counselor in MA and RI. My approach to therapy is unique, in that I can help you achieve answers faster to what has been blocking you, build the life you desire, and redefine yourself using a holistic approach. We will do this together by finding root causes to your symptoms using a comprehensive assessment questionnaire, attachment theory, and evidence-based mind-body approaches; that include meditation and somatic practices. I help my clients transform their lives, reach their goals, and achieve lasting results by providing high quality care. My intent is to address the challenges you are struggling with in connection to your symptoms and help bring awareness on how these symptoms are connected to limiting beliefs, subconscious programming, and/or trauma; that created a life that no longer aligns with who you are today and where you want to be. I value treating the whole-person. As we walk through this journey together, my hope for you, is to find fulfillment within yourself, healthier relationships, healing, and post-traumatic growth. I am accepting new clients at this time and have helped hundreds of people achieve the life they seek throughout sixteen years of work experience in the mental health profession. <script src="https://thrivingcampus.com/verified.js?pid=34863"></script>
One of the great promises of therapy is that even when we don’t know exactly what we need or know how to feel better, if we lean in with curiosity and compassion- and stay committed- we can learn to turn toward ourselves and each other with empathy, begin to build healthier relationships, and ride waves of emotions like a pro surfer. I believe we all have the capacity to grow and reach greater levels of understanding along happiness in life. I think the best way to get there is through a meaningful connection that is created in a safe environment where we can express our authentic needs. I often support clients with experiences like stress, depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, bipolar, ADHD, and autism. I have been trained in various clinical techniques in Europe, including schema therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. My approach is integrative and tailored to your unique goals and needs. Growing up outside the US, I also bring a cross-cultural perspective that deepens my understanding of the challenges people from diverse backgrounds might face. I empower my clients to gain insights into their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors so that they can make meaningful changes in their lives. Reach out if you're curious about working together!
