College is supposed to be exciting, but for a lot of students, it feels more like walking a tightrope: juggling coursework, relationships, pressure to figure out your future and fears of failing. If that sounds familiar, you're not alone and you're not broken. I'm MJ Wright, a licensed therapist with specialized training in anxiety and the unique pressures that come with being a student. I work with teens and young adults who find that their anxiety is getting in the way of the life they want to be living. Maybe you've noticed it showing up as procrastination, perfectionism or the inability to start an assignment even when the deadline is looming. Maybe it's lying awake at 2am replaying a conversation or catastrophizing about your GPA. Maybe you just feel chronically overwhelmed and aren't sure why. Therapy with me is a space where you don't have to perform or have it together. We'll work at a pace that feels right for you, using approaches that are grounded in evidence and tailored to what's actually going on in your life. I believe that anxiety is often a signal worth listening to, not just a symptom to eliminate. I work with individuals who are experiencing difficulties in their lives due to transitions, low self-esteem, mood disorders and anxiety. My approach to therapy is both goal oriented and insight oriented. I believe in a holistic approach to therapy that is person-centered and strengths-based. I use mindfulness-based techniques to help clients calm their minds, focus on the present and connect with their physical bodies. I believe that clients know themselves best and, through partnering with clients, I help them to live their best lives. I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor with a degree in Mental Health Counseling and Expressive Arts Therapies and a Certified Life Coach and Wellness Coach. Welcome! I offer clinical treatment to people experiencing trauma, mood disorders, & issues of identity (race, gender, sexuality, culture). I am South Asian, queer, and genderqueer (they/them). I am also an artist, and happy to incorporate creativity into our work together. No pressure, though! Traumatic experiences have a way of shackling themselves to the body, whether they are accumulated over time or single incidents which compromised our safety. We seek to protect ourselves from a world that has failed to protect us, often coping in ways that hurt in the long run. In our work together we will identify sources of pain, the impact they have on your life, & determine ways to reclaim power so that your body becomes a place of safety rather than a site of trauma. Hi, I’m Molly Johnson and I’m a licensed therapist in both Massachusetts and Minnesota. I’m passionate about helping people heal, deepen their insight, and become more skillful in how they live their life. While I previously offered in-person therapy, I now work exclusively through virtual sessions. Many clients begin with some hesitation, but soon find that virtual therapy feels just as connected and supportive as being in the room together. In fact, my doctoral project focused on understanding how young adults experience hookup culture.
