I am currently accepting clients for telehealth appointments for September 2024. If you are feeling overwhelmed, out of balance, or stuck, let's connect. I integrate compassion and humor in a gentle way to help you understand your emotions and gain control over how you respond to your experience. I particularly enjoy working with students navigating college, family and life transitions. I'm a cis-gender, queer identified therapist and enjoy working with people in the LGBTQIA+ community. I work from an IFS informed lens and incorporate DBT skills and mindfulness. Together, we will develop a plan that works best for you. Please reach out if you feel I could be helpful in your current journey! I currently only offer Telehealth sessions by video to individuals in Massachusetts.

You smile and say “I’m fine” but it's not true. You don’t necessarily know what’s wrong so sometimes you even convince yourself you're OK. You feel overwhelmed trying to balance the demands of being a student, living on your own, preparing for your future, maintaining relationships with family/friends, gaining financial independence, etc. It feels like everybody around you has it all under control. You question whether you're depressed or anxious. Maybe you've learned to cope by scrolling on your phone and self-medicating. You want to learn healthier coping skills. You want to talk to someone who only has YOU in mind. You deserve to find a therapist who will listen, care, support and advocate for you. I have experience working with college-aged students who present with a variety of concerns including: ADHD, anxiety and depression, domestic violence, eating disorders, grief/loss, life transitions, relational conflict, self-esteem issues, stress management, substance use, and trauma. Check out my website to learn more about me! I offer an initial 45-minute consultation free of charge to all potential clients so you can make sure I am a good fit for you. Feel free to contact me by phone or email if you have any questions or if you would like to schedule a consultation.

Thank you so much for taking a look at my profile. I have been in private practice since 2011 and prior to that primarily worked in university counseling centers with both college age clients as well as older adults. While I use cognitive behavioral treatment strategies to help clients manage what brings them into treatment, I also find that it can be helpful to explore where certain thoughts or feelings come from to create a deeper understanding and hopefully ultimately minimize unwanted feelings or symptoms. I provide a free 5-10 minute initial consultation over the phone to make sure this seems like a good match and our schedules align. Please feel free to reach out by phone or email, with email being checked more regularly. I look forward to working with you!

I help clients navigate identity exploration, trauma, grief, relationship challenges (familial or intimate), and major life transitions—like adjusting to adulthood or stepping into a more authentic sense of self. These liminal, in-between stages can be tricky to navigate and are often marked by anxiety, depression, or a fragmented sense of self, leaving folks feeling emotionally untethered. While we must lead ourselves to authenticity, it can help to have a thoughtful, attuned guide who walks alongside us—offering new perspectives, practical coping skills, and questions that gently challenge deep-rooted assumptions. I enjoy working with young adults on the precipice of independence, older adults facing aging-related transitions, couples, and folks with marginalized or liminal (Biracial, Bicultural, nonbinary, genderqueer, etc.) identities. Together, we reduce fear, shame, and relational distress, while cultivating authenticity, inner wisdom, and emotional resilience. Starting therapy can feel vulnerable and unfamiliar. If you're unsure whether we'd be a good fit, I'm happy to meet with you, answer any questions, and elaborate on my approach to therapy. You're not alone in taking this first step—and you don’t have to do it without support. I provide therapy through Intersect Clinical Services, a preferred provider for Boston-area students. We accept UHC StudentResources and Aetna Student Health with minimal or no out-of-pocket costs.

*When emailing me, please specify what you are seeking therapy for!* My practice is rooted in the belief that everyone is worthy of health, recovery, and a positive relationship with food and their body, no matter their size. My goal is to create a space that feels safe and supportive enough to make positive change happen. I specialize in eating disorders (Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, OSFED), self-esteem challenges, anxiety disorders, depression, and self-harming behaviors in young adults (18+) and adults and am currently the assistant clinical director of a nationally recognized eating disorder outpatient program. Hey Hey Hey! I’m Lenora Benson (She/Her/Hers), LICSW and I support black and ethnic minority women, in navigating the challenges and expectations imposed on them by the fallacy of the strong black women. I support all women in navigating the social expectations, stressors, and demands of being woman, as they intersect in all areas of racism, sexism, and patriarchism. I believe in the transformative power of therapy, because it has transformed me personally. As your therapist, I provide a safe, supportive, and judgement free space for you to explore your emotions, heal from past wounds, and journey from darkness to the light. My goals are to help those struggling with low self-esteem, people pleasing tendencies, and high-achieving perfectionism, dismantle the beliefs that keeps them stuck in patterns of behavior that leave them feeling like imposters; never good enough, never smart enough. Working with me will allow you to begin to make decisions for yourself that leave you feeling loved, worthy, and empowered.

You may appear confident on the outside, but internally struggle with self-doubt, anxiety, or fear of rejection. Many of my clients feel “too much” and not enough at the same time, which can show up as overgiving, withdrawing, or difficulty setting boundaries. I work with high-achieving individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, and grief—often expressed through overthinking, emotional avoidance, or disconnection. These patterns are often rooted in early experiences, cultural pressures, or navigating marginalized identities, all of which can shape how we view ourselves and relate to others. Together, we work to build a more grounded sense of self, increase emotional awareness, and shift away from survival patterns like numbing, overcontrolling, or checking out. My goal is to help you feel more confident, connected, and at ease in your life and relationships. I especially enjoy working with BIPOC clients, Asian Americans, first-generation individuals, and those exploring identity and belonging. I offer a free, no-pressure consultation to see if we’re a good fit.
