Therapists for college students near Indianapolis, IN
We all experience challenging and sometimes overwhelming periods in life. While turning to friends, family, or faith is often helpful in navigating life's paths, we can also benefit from a trained ear that will listen from the outside. Therapy is a safe place for exploration; a journey towards more fulfilling relationships, a greater sense of emotional, mental and spiritual well-being as well as increased self-esteem. Our work together will provide you with the support, guidance and the tools that you will need to reach your goals.

My treatment focus is on neurodivergent issues and gifted learners. Therapeutic style is evidenced and strength based, multiculturally sensitive, solutions oriented, client centered, and collaborative. You are the expert on you. My role is to facilitate and support an awareness of how to implement changes to overcome unhelpful patterns in thinking and decision making. I strive to see the whole person not just a list of symptoms. Understanding your unique background is key because therapy is not a cookie-cutter approach. Currently in network with Aetna, Kaiser Permanente, Lyra Health, SpringHealth, Sutter EAP, and Cigna in certain states. I am a LMFT in California, Hawaii, Massachusetts, and Virginia, LPCC in California, and Registered Out-of-State Telehealth Provider for Florida, South Carolina and Vermont.
Are you feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or disappointed in yourself and others ? Are you experiencing feelings of being all alone, or powerless? Do you struggle with “knowing” what is true but often do not “feel” good enough, in control, or protected? Is it time? Time to honor your story authentically but with less pain and less struggle. I work with students and young adults who are struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, and dealing with the undergoing changes of going to college or starting full time work. I offer therapy without judgment, I am here to help you challenge the critic in your mind telling you that you're doing everything wrong and that everyone is judging you all the time. I use a mix of cognitive and behavioral approaches to help you learn ways to change how you think about yourself and the world around you. I help by providing a nonjudgmental space and time for you to process through the thoughts that are troubling you and the worries you have. I am available to see clients in Illinois and Indiana.

I am a Master’s Level Intern in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program at Ball State University. I'm working with Associates in Behavioral Counseling under the supervision of a licensed psychologist. I work with all ages, from young children to older adults, who experience relationship/family concerns, depression, grief, trauma, anxiety, self-esteem, and behavioral disorders. Sessions will always be person-centered, culturally-sensitive, and trauma-informed. My approach to therapy is holistic, mind-body oriented, and rooted in mindfulness. I also pull from emotionally-focused therapy, attachment-based therapy, and expressive arts therapy. I believe that the therapy should fit the person, not the other way around. So, I may pull from other modalities that will benefit you the most.

I am a solution focused therapist with 6 years of experience working with individuals and families to help them reach their goals. I get to know my clients and incorporate meaningful activities into our therapeutic sessions to help them work through the issues that are causing them disruption in their lives. I know that life can be difficult due to many different issues. Whatever the issue is, I am happy to work with clients to help them figure out how to overcome it. My primary objective is to help clients remove barriers to personal success and take steps toward autonomy through the promotion of mental health. I am able to provide this service in both English and Spanish. In addition to being a bilingual mental health therapist, I am a seasoned educator with 13 years of classroom teaching experience. Over the years, I have gained beneficial experience that has helped form my counseling philosophy that we all have room to grow. Lao Tzu said it best when he coined the phrase, "a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." We are all on a journey in this life and start at different places along the path. It doesn't matter where any one of us starts, it just matters that we take that first step and keep on going.
We offer mental health services and support using Relational Cultural Therapy. "Relational-Cultural work is not about changing people to fit into dysfunctional cultural conditions, but empowering them to heal in connection, and in turn, to heal others in connection. A part of growth in connection often spills into participating in social change, through creating alliances or communities that are built around relational values." –Judith V. Jordan, Relational-Cultural Therapy. Our practice is gender affirming, intersectional, anti-racist, and diverse.

I have been in private practice since 1995, providing mental health counseling to undergrad and graduate students who may have difficulties living away from home, strenuous academic schedules, trouble making friends and fitting in, as well as stress related to dissertation and associated exams. When the relatively brief nature of on-campus counseling isn’t enough, students appreciate the easy access and privacy of online counseling through the Google Meet app.

I have extensive training & experience with Addiction treatment: In-patient, Residential, IOP, Out-patient, Intervention, Program Development, college faculty, college level therapy.
