Therapists for college students near Georgia State University
Hi! My name is Katie (she/her), and I’m excited to work together. My goal is to help you feel safe, comfortable, and free to open up at your own pace. I believe our experiences—past and present—shape the way we think, feel, and move through life. By exploring and validating your thoughts and emotions, we can start to untangle patterns, make sense of what feels overwhelming, and work toward healing. I’m here to support you whether you’re navigating depression, anxiety, grief, body dysmorphia, sexual and gender identity issues, relationship/work stress, and/or chronic illness. Finding the right words to express what you’re feeling isn’t always easy, and that’s okay. Sessions are tailored to what feels right for you. We’ll draw from psychodynamic, somatic, creative arts, and other trauma-informed approaches. Empathy, warmth, and humor are central to my practice, creating a space where you can explore and grow. Currently, I’m an MSW student at Yeshiva University in New York City and hold an MA in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University. I look forward to meeting you! -- Katie Colton is a therapist-in-training at Sol Health. Sol Health is a digital health startup that offers $30 therapy to Gen Zs by connecting them with therapists-in-training accruing clinical hours.
I have been in practice for over 20 years and enjoy working with graduate and undergraduate students. Many of my student clients have been interested in reducing anxiety or depression symptoms, working through family, friendship or relationship issues, or simply having a safe place to talk with someone outside of their support circle about a current transition or struggle.
Welcome! I'm Lindsey - a licensed clinical social worker specializing in the treatment of trauma. I practice at Counseling Associates for Well-being in our Athens, GA office. I would love to talk with you and learn if we are a good fit to work together.
Hello! I am Andre'a Younger, owner of Mended Matters Counseling. I've always been interested in understanding people and providing support has always been in my heart. However, I never thought that being a therapist would be the route I would take. Therapy found me while volunteering for an AmeriCorps program and simultaneously taking a developmental psychology course. Sometimes when we have our plans life has a way of laughing and revealing new ones. Since then, I have followed this journey of trying to understand why people think, feel, and do what they do. I have been fortunate enough to work with children, adults, families, Veterans, the homeless population, and those affected by HIV/AIDS. I truly enjoy creating a safe space that allows individuals to let go of the desire to have it all together and release their stress, anxiety, trauma, hurt, guilt, shame, and the expectations of others in order to shape and mold the you that you desire to be. Mended Matters was developed to be that safe space that encourages healing and restoration through exploring the things in life that have attempted to break us and that have been taking up space in our hearts and minds.
Using a client-centered approach in an accepting and caring environment, I enjoy working with those who experience issues from trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, women's issues, and life transitional issues, such as marriage, separation, and divorce. We can work together to develop your individual goals to reach your greatest potential of well-being. I utilize the most current evidence based treatments in my practice to promote healing of the body and mind. I would love to meet with you to see if I would be a good fit for your needs! I received EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) training in 2016 and have been an EMDR certified therapist since 2018 and have been trained to utilize ego states and cognitive interweaves, flash technique, and other evidence based strategies within EMDR. I also utilize a client-centered approach with various treatment modalities in addition to EMDR to include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Relaxation and Stress Management Techniques, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Memory Reconsolidation in Trauma Therapy. I would love to meet with you to see if I would be a good fit for your needs!

Everyone experiences wounds in life, be it loss, illness, abuse, a difficult relationship, neglect, or any other overwhelming issue. Sometimes even experiences that "should" bring joy like graduating, starting a new job, marriage, or having children can render us feeling like we are in crisis - or stuck. We work with clients to help them get unstuck from feelings of anxiety, depression, and emotional reactivity. When we can identify the patterns that keep us in pain, we can begin to develop new ways to cope and manage the stress of our lives.
Finding a good therapist can be very anxiety inducing. When people decide they would like to benefit from seeing a therapist they are often experiencing tremendous upset in their lives. I am aware of this and want you to know that you will be in a comfortable setting where you can tell your story in strict confidence. You will never have to worry about being judged. We will discuss what you would like to address and how I will be able to help you. In my private practice, I work with individuals, couples, and groups. I have over twenty-five years of experience and I love what I do. My experience includes working with individuals who suffer from psychotic disorders, mood disorders, relationship issues, identity issues, childhood disorders, and substance dependence. If you have decided that you are ready to get help to be able to function better and feel good about yourself, then I can help you. Please feel free to reach out to me.
OMG! This college thing is HARD - everything from the application process, to balancing all my assignments and social life and different professors and roommates and my parents (and...!), to figuring out the best major and then actually trying to get a job applying what I've learned. Feel familiar? If the stress, anxiety, worry, and decisions you're juggling are overwhelming you and you are not functioning at your best level, maybe it's time to check out some other ways of managing all that's going on. In a very relaxed and safe space, you can meet with someone whose many years of professional experience guiding students through their major transitions are shared in a comfortable living room decor where jeans are the dress code. We will work as partners to discover and expand your strengths and resources so that you can move in the direction you want to go. And you will come to understand that "therapy" is not about fixing something that's broken but developing the strategies to make the most of what's within and around you. Hope to see you soon!
Are you feeling anxious! I can give you a good understanding of neuroscience, how your brain works, and techniques so that you can better manage your anxiety. I enjoy helping college students gain a better understanding of how thoughts and experiences influence emotions and so I will provide you with practical feedback on your own thoughts/emotions to guide you in reaching your goals. I offer therapy with or without a Christian perspective. Your choice. No judgement from me, only support and encouragement to help you manage your difficulties.
I enjoy working with students trying to navigate life's challenges, struggling with anxiety/depression/sleep issues/college stress/relationship issues and are motivated, open, and willing to look within themselves for the answers and personal strengths necessary to heal and grow. I connect on a personal and relaxed level and invite my clients to do the same. I assist in growing my clients' knowledge of the connection between the body, mind, and spirit and believe each of them has an important story to tell.

Students appreciate my authentic and relatable approach that I combine with my positive and supportive energy to help empower you to make the changes you need to move forward. Feel free to read over my website and reach out for a consult. I'm here and I can help. SCHEDULE: I have a flexible schedule and will work with you to find session times that accommodate your busy life. LOCATION: I am licensed for telehealth in Florida and Georgia so if you are in college in either state, I can help. I currently offer all my sessions online so no need to drive anywhere, just log in with a link using your phone, tablet or laptop. So you can do your therapy wherever you are comfortable, avoid traffic, and resume life as soon as you log off. If home is in GA or FL, we can continue our therapy during visits home, or if you live in another state, we may be able to continue there too, I'd just need to check local regulations.
